Atcheson, Eva Clara ; Wlazel, Adam (referee) ; Kaftan, Martin (advisor)
Architecture of the Extreme, Desert Shed, is a search for as many aspects of extremity of site-specific design for the Northern-Nevada desert as possible. Physical, geographical and climate extremity, absence of urbanism, scale and architectural context. Psychological and sociological extremity of solitude and abandonedness, but also co-sharing of architecture and ownership of the un-surveillanceable. Extremeness of the economical situation and its development, extreme transformations of the phenomena of second homes and their usage throughout time and into the future. Dialogue between sedentary and nomadic. What does recreational living for a contemporary family in an extreme situation at an extreme location look like and what sort of scenarios must it be prepared for, once the architect is out of the picture?

Serbousková, Lucie ; Sedláčková, Kateřina (referee) ; Kratochvíl, Jan (advisor)
Recreation is undergoing great changes nowadays, people are again longing for nature, which gives them peace and rest from everyday worries. However, recreational areas in the Czech Republic often do not meet the requirements of today. One such requirement is that the area should be barrier-free and provide facilities for cyclists. The work focuses on the Elbe Trail, which is popular not only in the Czech Republic but also attracts a large number of foreign cyclists. However, there is not a sufficient network of campsites to provide sufficient facilities for them. The design of the new site in Bílá Třemešná corresponds to all these aspects and with its modern nature-inspired appearance provides attractive facilities not only for cyclists, but also for visitors to the Královédvorská Zoo and all those looking for a quiet place for a break from today‘s hectic times.

Possible Uses of Camp in Interpretation of Czech Contemporary Cultural Background
DEMETER, Peter
Proposed dissertation is focusing on specific eccentric aesthetics based on hyperboles, ambivalent meanings and ironic attitude, which in Anglo-American background is so called camp derived from French. Camp origin can be found on the court of Louis XIV, where we can notice passionate tries to cultivate affected court-style culminating in baroque metaphor of the world as a theatre. Due to impact of modernity and postmodernity, scope of the camp extended to various cultural spheres and phenomenon began to corelate through its eccentricity with common marginality, respectively with something what is different from "normality" and "genuineness" also settled schemes of perception or ways of historical reflection. Goal of proposed dissertation is based on theoretical-historical interpretations to trace mentions of camp (mainly in literature) with focus on Czech background, where its rich interpretational potential can clarify most of social-cultural tendencies.
