Nymburk in the Changes of Time - educational programme for secondary schools

The aim of this diploma thesis is to compile and subsequently implement an educational programme focused on the history of the royal town of Nymburk. The educational programme is called Křížem krážem Nymburkem or Nymburk in the Changes of Time. The aim of this work is also to reveal the weaknesses of the educational programme that has already been implemented and to suggest changes for further implementation. The first part of the thesis focuses on a comparison of educational programmes in Nymburk district offered by the following remembrance institutions: the State District Archive of Nymburk, located in Lysá nad Labem, the Polabské muzeum Poděbrady, the Polabské národopisné muzeum Přerov nad Labem, the Nymburk City Museum ant the Loučeň castle. In this part the thesis also deals with the theory of educational programmes, how the programmes should be created from a professional point of view, what educational elements should be included according to the age category. A suitable tool for primary school pupils is experiential pedagogy, which is also used in the submitted educational programme. The ideal exhibiting concept for Alfons Mucha's Slavic Epic

This thesis focuses on Alfons Mucha's Slavic Epic from a curating point of view. It aims to determine and define the ideal ways on how to exhibit the large-scale paintings. This thesis follows up on numerous architectural studies that repetitively aimed to find the ideal space to accommodate the Slavic Epic cycle. It researches the rich history of exhibitions of the Slavic Epic and highlights the positive and negative aspects of said expositions. This thesis highlights the problematics of large format artworks and the optimal ways of presentation. It determines the target group audience and follows up with the specific means on how the display could be adjusted for said audience. Lastly, the author presents the Slavic Epic as a unique artwork of national significance. The goal of this thesis is to present a universal concept for an exhibition of the Slavic Epic. This concept could later serve as a template for future expositions.
The architectural participation of Czech artists at world axpositions in the years 1900 - 1940.

This thesis deals with Czechoslovakian pavilion architecture at the world exhibitions in the first half of the 20th century. The thesis is divided into three sections. The first section deals with a participation of Czech artists at the world exhibitions before the creation of independent Czechoslovakia. Next two sections focus on Czechoslovakian representation at the world exhibitions in the twenties and thirties of the 20th century. The thesis deals closer with preparations, looking for a basic solutions, choosing of architects and requirements which have been imposed on them. In the conclusion there is outlined development of our participation at the world exhibitions in a given period and its way to the famous EXPO 58.

The Slavic Epic as a task of architecture

The work at hand deals in a broader way with the placement of the Slavic Epic from an architectural point of view. The author first focuses on the role of historical monumental canvases in relation to the formation of the national identity and looks in this respect at some Czech monumental canvases before the Slavic Epic was painted. Another chapter deals primarily with the Slavic Epic. It presents a detailed view on a difficult process of finding a tailor-made exhibition space for the monumental canvas from the point Alfons Mucha started with its painting until the present time. It also shows specific demands on a building in which the Slavic Epic should have been placed. The next chapter presents all projects that have been made so far to build a new exhibition space for the Slavic Epic. Based on the analysis of this work the final chapter describes author's own ideal proposal of a complex architectural solution of the exhibition space which also encompasses exhibition management and marketing.

Clothing style in the work of Alfons Mucha

The aim of this thesis is to examine the relation between Alfons Mucha and contemporary fashion and jewellery and to try to describe the clothing style in his graphic advertisements and to find sources of his inspiration. The thesis is divided into four main sections. The first one talks about Mucha's relationship with the theatre and tries to determine his involvement in theatrical costume design. The second part concerns his graphic advertisements and aims to define different types of clothing of his allegorical women figures and to find sources of their inspiration. The goal of the third part is to characterize the phenomenon of attempts at reforming women's costume and to take a look at the relationship between Alfons Mucha and contemporary fashion. The last part deals with Mucha's jewellery designs. This work is based primarily on Alfons Mucha's graphics and surviving jewellery and costume designs and on literary sources from that period.
Alfons Mucha: The Slav epic: The question of housing the artwork

In this bachelor's work, there is presented a cycle of paintings called the Slav epic and its author, Czech painter Alfons Mucha in the context of the times, when the paintings were made until now. The work relates to the problem of the installation of these paintings which goes along with the cycle from the times of its origin until now and still isn't solved. This question is analyzed according to contemporary sources and how it is presented to Czech public in the media in last five years as well. Zbiroh chateau is presented in this work as a place where many of the paintings were made, furthermore U Studánky school where were the paintings until the WW2. Emphasis is put on transport of the Slav epic to Moravský Krumlov, its storage and exhibition on local chateau. Main part of the work is focused on the cause of moving the Slav epic from Moravský Krumlov to Prague. Arguments of both sides are presented here how they were shown in the media and this way the history of the cause which is closed for now by showing of the Slav epic in Veletržní palace.
Importance of well-known person for tourism – Alfons Mucha

The topic of bachelor's thesis is importance of well-known person -- Alfons Mucha for tourism. The theoretical part of the thesis included in the first two chapters, defines the supply-side as well as the demand-side of the tourism market focused on specifics in relation to well-known persons and presents the life and work of Czech Art Nouveau painter Alfons Mucha. The third chapter is an analysis of sites, attractions, accommodation and catering facilities and tourism products related to Alfons Mucha, followed by visitor statistics and personal observations from visits to selected objects. The final part is devoted to project tourist route, covering those objects. The work includes also original survey.
