Jechová, Veronika ; Hořák, Jaromír (advisor) ; Vokoun, Rudolf (referee)
The Question of Self-induced Insanity The aim of this thesis is to cover the question of self-induced insanity in its complexity. The thesis is divided into eleven chapters, in which this part of criminal law is analysed. The topic of criminal liability of insane offenders (even those insane due to their own conduct) represents an interesting part of criminal law. One of the main reasons is the fact that the solution to the problem of criminal liability of insane offenders can lead to the breach of one of the main principles of criminal law - the principle of culpability - on one hand, or to the failure of one of the main functions of the criminal law - the protection of society and its interest and values against the most dangerous conduct prohibited by the law - on the other. The text is concerned mainly with the current legal arrangement of self-induced insanity in the Czech Republic. The legal arrangement in effect adopted the theoretical concept of a special criminal offense and a full criminal liability for the actio libera in causa construction. These provisions deal with situations, where the offender through the voluntary application of addictive substances caused his own insanity and in this state committed an act which would constitute a crime were it not for the absence of the...

Pathological personality structure in the stories of clients treated for addictive substance abuse in a chosen Highlands facility Abstract This thesis deals with the issue of personality disorders, termed in the title as pathological structures of personality, of people treated for addictive substance abuse. Numerous Czech and foreign studies pointing out high prevalence of personality disorders with substance abusers served as a base. I also proceeded from the finding that little was written in theory or dealt with in practice concerning comorbidity of abovementioned issues. The theoretical part is divided into three parts. The first part develops the topic of personality disorders, chosen types of addiction and the unifying topic of psychiatric comorbidity. The aim of the thesis is, by analyzing two case studies, to describe the possible manifestations and treats of specific personality disorders, to observe the way they affect their life or the development of the illness connected to substance abuse and the part they took in their relapses or in their cooperation with the services for substance abusers. I reached the goals of this thesis by the methods of qualitative research, using a semi-structured interview that was later on transformed into a case history. The research file consisted of two clients...

Road traffic offences
Kotrnoch, Filip ; Vokoun, Rudolf (advisor) ; Říha, Jiří (referee)
v anglickém jazyce This rigorous thesis deals with the legal regulation of road traffic offences in the Czech Republic. It is a specific criminal activity. The perpetrators are usually persons with a good repute, who live an orderly life and are not inclined to criminal activity. Criminal liability is often incurred by causing a traffic accident with serious consequences. Yet, driving a motor vehicle is an everyday part of life for most of the adult population. This issue can therefore affect any of us. There is no separate title in the Special Part of the Criminal Code which contains specific legislation on road traffic offences. Conduct that undermines road safety is punishable under the general offences, which can be committed in other than road transport-related circumstances. The aim of this thesis is to provide the reader with an analysis of the legal regulation of road traffic offences from the perspective of substantive criminal law, to highlight current practical problems and to offer de lege ferenda considerations on possible solutions to the shortcomings of the current legislation. This should be achieved by analysing legal literature and case law. The thesis is divided into five chapters. The first chapter deals with the definition of road transport offences. It then analyses the legal...
