Time frame of elementary school principals

Abstracts: This bachelor's thesis concerns the technique intended to determine the distribution of individual activities during the day. This analytic technique is known as the "time frame". In this thesis, the technique is described not only theoretically, including the short overview about the alternative managers' techniques resulting with the better effectivity of elementary school principals' work. The thesis contains also a demonstration of practical research. Having the form of a special questionnaire, the time frames of a few elementary school principals are identified and processed, including the part of their personal time, i. e. not within the working hours. The proposed procedures should protect against the time thieves, as well as increase the effectivity of daily working habits of the elementary school principal. This thesis shows the interconnection of individual managers' techniques with time management field and brings inspiration to elementary school principals on how to use their time more effectively.
Comparison of competency models of headmasters at elementary schools in Prague 10

The thesis deals with the comparison of the competency models of headmaster of elementary schools in Prague 10. The theoretical part explains the basic terms as "competency", "key competency" and compares the definitions of different scientific sources. It describes their structure as well as the life cycle. Further on the thesis deals with the competency models in general and primarily with the models of the managers of the schools. The role of the competency model is highlighted as well as its reasons and its implementation. In the practical part the thesis deals with the qualitative investigation where the author compares the competency models that were created by shadowing and some other additional methods. The competencies were evaluated on base of the criteria of the competency model created by I. Lhotkova (2012). The output of the investigation is a case study in which the differences of the headmaster competencies in Prague 10, with similar conditions of leading the schools and with similar support from founders, are described. Big discrepancy in the competencies were not proved, on the other hand similar issues were detected.

Irena Lhotková, PhD ABSTRACT: This bachelor's thesis deals with the topic of effective communication in the area of the relationship between the school canteen manager and the primary school headmaster, in a situation where the school canteen operates under the auspices of the primary school organization. Under this arrangement, communication between two disparate environments arises which places considerable strain on the communicating parties and puts special demands on their communication skills, in particular on the part of the primary school headmaster. The objective of this bachelor's thesis is to answer the following questions: What are the key common areas of this communication, if any? What is the optimum frequency of mutual communication? Which communication channels are the most frequently used ones in this internal communication? The collected materials and evaluation of results have been summarized at the end of the thesis into a brief recommendation, a simple manual that might serve as the basis for developing or enhancing effective communication in the given area. School director's agenda on the preparatory week

The final thesis deals with the preparatory week at school. This is a very important period for the start of the school year and subsequent operation of the school. This thesis is focused on the directors of elementary schools and their activities in the preparatory week. It is based on the theoretical part which deals with the principles of the weekly planning, organization, delegation and time management. The second part of the thesis research which is about a multiple case study. The research part focuses on the analysis and findings composition and scope of individual activities of directors at elementary schools of different sizes during the preparatory week. This thesis presents an analysis based on the daily time schedule, an analysis of documents, interviews and analysis activities of director of elementary school in the preparatory week, respectively, and which activities are further delegated to other persons. Finally, the thesis also provides recommendations on how to effectively plan and lay out a preparatory week from the perspective of the director of elementary school.
Career workload challenges of selected principals

The thesis Vocational Workload of Headmasters at Randomly Selected Primary Schools deals with the structure of headmasters` vocational activities at fully organized public primary schools. In its theoretical part the thesis concerns with the institution of headteacher from the legislation`s perspective, further it describes individual occupational roles of a headmaster - a leader, a manager and a practitioner. The main aim of the theoretical part is to map the structure of headmasters` vocational activities and match them with individual occupational roles held by a headmaster. The empirical part focuses on investigation based on the data gained from half-structured interviews that we held with individual headmasters of randomly selected fully organized public primary schools in Prague 8. Analyzing the interviews, we were detecting the structure of the headmasters` vocational activities: Which vocational activities match with particular occupational roles of a headmaster, if the roles are equally divided and whether the workload of the headmasters is appropriate in its amount. The structure of headmasters` vocational activities at fully organized public primary schools is in large measure related to the stretch of time considered - the setting of headmasters` daily vocational routines is different...
