Hledík, Michal ; Soukup, Ladislav (advisor) ; Šouša, Jiří (referee)
130 ABSTRACT This Master's degree thesis deals with the problematics of the military criminal law in the Czechoslovak Republic between 1918 and 1938. I have chosen this theme for several reasons. First of these reasons is, that this subject mingles two legal disciplines - legal history and criminal law. Concurrently it is a topic, that has not yet been widely written up. The reason is that in both law disciplines combined in the theme of interwar criminal law, it is a marginal area of interest. Existing works in most cases focus only on a constituent parts of the problematics. In the second group of works the topic was chosen too widely and the character of resulting outputs was enumeratives, withnout providing context. The purpose of this tesis is to provide a global view on the matter of our military criminal law in the begining of 20th century and within this view then further focus on its dominant elements. The work is based mainly on the legislation effective in the given period, and the commented wordings. Another valuable source for the elaboration of the thesis were historical publications, although recent papers were not excluded. On several occasions the work marginally mentiones the comparison with the interwar general criminal law. In the topics of the military criminal law, whose legislation or...
"What is I? Ivan Havel? That is a name, not who I am." Biography of Ivan M. Havel
Markupová, Jana ; Putna, Martin (advisor) ; Suk, Jiří (referee)
This master's degree thesis, adhering to the genre of contemporary history studies, depicts the lifestory of Ivan M. Havel. Theoretically it is grounded in personalism, especially regarding to works of Ch. Mounier and M. Scheler and establishes as the primary point of reference the phenomena of individual personality, uniquely embedded into the surrounding social world. From this basic tenet the explanation is built towards the understanding of general categories, using the contexts and traditions, in which the personality had been engulfed. This thesis makes use of both oral history method and archival sources and documents study. Ivan M. Havel can be understood within enduring context of his family's intellectual, civic, political and entrepreneurial tradition, where several specific phenomena stand out. First the non-partisan spirituality, second the emphasis, laid of socially responsible conduct of business; third the stress, laid on achieving broad education, going beyond established domains and disciplines and fourth the sociability, spanning over all of these attributes. Ivan M. Havel's biography is therefore traced mainly within the period up to the 1989 year, since the childhood, deeply influenced by his grandfather H. Vavrečka, through his coming of age, spent close to the Šestatřicátníci literary...

Regulation of media during the election campaign in Czechoslovakia in 1946 and 1990
Pařízková, Nikola ; Bednařík, Petr (advisor) ; Köpplová, Barbara (referee)
The thesis deals with election campaigns in media during founding elections in Czechoslovakia in 1946 and 1990. The importance of those elections derives from their character of being the first elections after a regime change. Based on a comprehension of historical context, characterisation of the media system related to regime change and particularly an analysis of specific expressions in election campaigns, the thesis aims to understand the functioning of media in given periods. The qualitative content analysis examines party newspapers of two relevant party bodies in given years - Rudé právo of Komunistická strana Československa and Svobodné slovo of Československá strana (národně) socialistická. The electoral campaigns in question largely reflect the dynamical processes associated with the period of transition. The concept of campaigns in 1946 is determined by the already established position of Komunistická strana Československa whose influence was wide. This party was controlling the functioning of media during elections even though the media system had already been emancipated after the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia. In 1990 we can conversely observe peremptory campaigns calling for democracy. Campaigns reflect the controversial position of KSČ in this year - Svobodné slovo appeals to...

Olbertová, Lenka ; Kabele, Jiří (advisor) ; Tuček, Milan (referee)
The diploma thesis deals with finding an answer to how socialistic complaints worked as an instrument of remedy and also as an instrument of governance. It proceeds from the theory of Albert O. Hirschman that explains strategies of solution in the area of firms, organizations and states and that also includes complaining. The other theoretical sources are the theory of bureaucratic organizations of Michel Crozier and Michel Foucault's conception of power and discipline. The issues of complaining are put into period context in the diploma thesis and it is supplemented about a brief elucidation of ruling manners considering the district level. The empirical part is based on qualitative and quantitative content analysis of complaints that were solved by the leading secretary at the District Committee of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia in Beroun from 1985 till 1989. It is not only focused on a survey of complaints but also interprets the procedures of solving that are related to the chosen theoretical findings. The thesis also explains the relationship between the communist party and its critics with their objections and the relationship between the party and people that were criticized in the complaints.
