Müller, Lukáš ; Kasáková, Zuzana (advisor) ; Svoboda, Karel (referee)
1 Abstract This essay is about the theory of optimal currency areas (OCA) and its reflection in public discussion of two biggest political parties in Czech Republic - ODS and ČSSD, about Czech Republic entering the European Monetary Union (EMU). Although EMU hadn't met the criteria of OCA before the examined period, both parties entered the elections in May 2010 with more or less pro-european program despite decreasing support of eurozone in Czech public opinion. ČSSD, as well as ODS, only limitedly mentioned the OCA in their argumentation whereas they explained their attitude with other reasons. While ČSSD remained loyal to its pro European policy even after the election, ODS started diverting from their European agenda right after them. This process ended with their demand for referendum about the entry of Czech Republic to the Eurozone. Before the elections, Social Democrats were the ones to discuss this topic the most, but afterwards their rhetoric limited mostly to reactions to public statements and actions of ODS only.

Horák, Pavel ; Čechurová, Jana (advisor) ; Sekera, Martin (referee)
This diploma thesis (Journalism of Social Democratic Exile after February 1948 /1948- 1953/) studies the history of social democratic party in exile between the years 1948 and 1953 with special focus on journalism, news service and propaganda. The thesis describes formation of party fractions and deals with how they defined themselves, communicated and presented themselves in the media. The thesis then goes on to analyse the newspaper format, production and financing thereof as well as the number of copies. It looks into broadcasting activities of social democrats and their plans related to the setup of illegal radio. Based on the cases of party secretary Vilím Blažej and Bohumil Laušman, the last party chairman prior to February 1948, the thesis analyses the question whether single groups within the party in the given time period tried by its journalistic activities to primarily influence events in Czechoslovakia or whether these efforts slowly faded due to rivalry between fractions and frustration over hopeless political situation and lack of audience in such an extent that media outputs were later on confined only to discussions within the party and to barely expressing political views.

Pistulková, Petra ; Dvořáková, Vladimíra (advisor) ; Němec, Jan (referee)
Diploma thesis focuses on parliamentary election campaign of Czech Social Democratic Party (ČSSD) in 2002, 2006 and 2010. Yet ČSSD is unable to catch new voters, especially young people and university educated voters. The goal is to prove or disprove this hypothesis and to give a reason why it is so. This paper outlines the influence of political marketing and presents a critical analysis of political marketing. It examines trends in Czech parliamentary election campaigns of 2002, 2006 and 2010 and the shifts in voters preferences. The paper analyses election materials in order to determine the profile of ČSSD voters and to explain why ČSSD has this profile of voters.

The main aim of this work is solely the comparation thus the research of similar and different points which ODS and ČSSD seek to promote in the long term.
