Learning through the Practice of Active Citizenship

The thesis is inspired by the European Union project ETGACE, which examines the nature of active citizenship in six European states - Belgium, Finland, the Netherlands, Spain, the United Kingdom and Slovenia. The thesis introduces the concept of active citizenship in its context and different forms. The major aim of the survey is to find forms of learning strategies considered crucial by the interviewed, given the nature and form of their civic engagement, as well as the benefits resulting from active citizenship. Furthermore, it detects the intersections or congruence in life experience and opinions of interviewed active citizens, their attitude and view of themselves and the world. The survey has been implemented by qualitative interviews with active citizens (focusing on the form of their present life history), who significantly engage in various spheres (development aid, political literacy and education support, social services, communities development, etc.). Specifics of Motivation and Expectation of Adult Applicants for University Studies

This bachelor's thesis characterizes adult applicants for study at university, deals with their motivation and expectations from university studies, all in the context of a formal education system. The thesis is divided into two parts - the first part consists of five chapters and represents basic thematic units (formal adult education, specifics of adult education, motivation and expectations of adults in relation to education, barriers in adult education) using domestic and foreign literature and research. The second part of the thesis contains a quantitative survey among selected applicants for university studies and focuses on the previously discussed aspects, especially the definition of a group of adult candidates, their motivation and expectations from participation in formal education (namely university studies). The empirical survey also compares the opinions of adult candidates for university studies (over 30 years) with the views of younger candidates aged 18-20 (most likely coming from high school). Barriers to Participation in Further Education of Single Mothers

The bachelor thesis deals with the issue of barriers to participation in adult education, specifically in education of single mothers. It aims to identify barriers that single mothers have to overcome, to find how they do that and to find motivations they have to participating in adult education. The thesis builds on the research in the field of barriers to adult education, motivation to adult education and the research in the field of life circumstances of single mothers. An important part of the thesis is formed by a research with semi-structured interviews with single mothers, who have small children and who are participating in adult education. Interviews consist of topics from the literature, which is the base for particular chapters, and then specific barriers, ways of their overcoming and motivations of single mothers to participation in adult education are identified.
Workload of Support Staff Working with Disabled Clients

The Bachelor's thesis deals with the complex issue of work load and work-related stress. The work outlines the theoretical basis, which is then followed up with a discussion of the main theoretical models of work load and stress, with an emphasis on internal and external conditionality of worker's perception of said stress and work load. Second part of the thesis outlines the major features and specifics of caring professions. Primary focus is dedicated to workers caring for disabled clients, given that these workers act as the focus group of the empirical study in this work. Third and final part is dedicated to quantitative analysis of the study among workers of caring professions. The main research focal point is the subjectively perceived work load in the context of dispositional optimism and the key factors influencing the work load. Exit Interviews in Personal Management

The bachelor thesis is focused on exit interviews as a method used by organizations in case of employee resignation. Firstly the main benefits for organizations are identified, secondly the specific aspects of conducting the interview and associated particularities are described, thirdly the limits of the scope of this method are discussed. Part of the thesis is own empirical project aiming to acquire key insights into using this method in practice by investigating the perspective and experience of participating employees and employers with the exit interviews. The overall objective of the thesis is to analyze the potential of exit interviews for organizations through learning the main benefits and limits of the method. The Strategy of Employers to Employ the Parents on Parental Leave

The subject of this diploma thesis is the Employer's Strategy for Employing Parents on Parental Leave. The theoretical starting points of the thesis map the area of equal opportunities policy, the concept of family policy and employment policy in the Czech Republic. In addition, the work focuses on the personal and working life of parents on parental leave, describes the development of personal and work satisfaction, the motivation of parents to return to work and the expectation of parents from the employer. The last part of the theoretical framework focuses on employers' strategy, focuses on the social responsibility of organizations in the context of the topic, the motivation of employers to employ parents, their expectations of cooperation, and examples of different approaches to employing parents in the private and public sectors. The aim of the research part of thesis is to identify the causes that prevent parents from taking part in the labor market during parental leave and to educate and broaden their qualifications and to identify opportunities that lead to facilitating access to the labor market for parents on parental leave. Work Opportunities for People with Psychotic IIlness at the Labour Market

The diploma thesis is dealing with the issues of people with psychotic illness on the labour market, recognition of problems, which they deal with in their work life, and identification of current possibilities, which are offered to people with psychotic illness on the labour market. The purpose of the diploma thesis is finding the limits and precautions, which could help them enter the labour market. It provides basic view of two psychotic illnesses, schizophrenia and affective disorder of personality. Both illnesses are discussed with regard to their symptoms, cause of origin and progression of the disease, focusing on their employability. The diploma thesis sums up the employment situation of people with psychotic illness and the attitude of society towards them. Empirical survey verifies the established hypothesis and analyzes the results of the questionnaire survey among the patients of Psychiatric hospital Bohnice. The Attitudes of Older Adults Towards Living in Retirement in Relation to the Area of Residence

This diploma thesis deals with the analysis of plans, attitudes and opinions related to the retirement life of people in pre-retirement age. The role of preparing for life in retirement age is of increasing importance in locations with high proportion of people in pre-retirement age. These locations must be given the appropriate attention to minimize potential problem situations. In order to analyze the situation in a locality with a high proportion of older people, a quantitative survey was carried out at the Pokratice district of Litomerice. On the basis of the outputs of the survey, requirements and possible necessary changes in areas of development, transport services, accessibility of free time activities, health and social services are analyzed. In addition to the investigation itself, the work is based on other investigations carried out and other book and magazine sources, examples of good practice and strategical documents. The aim of the thesis is to analyze the current situation and propose necessary changes, which need to be implemented in order to minimize the problematic situations in connection with the retirement of a significant part of the inhabitants of the housing estates. The Developement of Lifelong Education of General Nurses in the Czech Republic

5 Abstract This diploma thesis is focused on the development of lifelong education of general nurses in the Czech Republic. The duty of lifelong education and its control has been introduced with the admission of the Czech Republic into the European Union. However, the development timeline is possible to follow until the period after the Second World War. The theoretical part describes the term of non-medical occupations, nursing and the roles of general nurses. Within the concept of lifelong education and learning is pursued European development line, as well as its influence in the Czech Republic. There is also a track of professionalism within the nursing occupation, which enables general nurses to take over more responsibilities and this led to the requirement of higher education. The empirical part of the text is dedicated to the analysis of the questionnaire of my own construction, which examined rapport of lifelong learning principles by general nurses. These principles were chosen on the base of nursing strategies which were acquired by the Czech Republic. The interest of the research was to compare two groups of general nurses. Educational Needs of Pastors at Church of the Brethren

This bachelor's thesis aims to analyse the educational needs of the pastors in the Church of the Bretheren denomination in the Czech Republic. The thesis is divided into four chapters. Chapter 1 introduces the situation and position of churches in the Czech republic. Later in the chapter the Church of the Bretheren is introduced. Chapter 2 describes the job title of pastor in the Church of the Bretheren, the pastor's roles, rights and duties and pastor's job desription. In the chapter is a proposal of the pastor's needed competencies. Chapter 3 presents existing opportunities for education for pastors. Also in Chapter 3, study plans of chosen educational institutions are analysed and compared with proposed competencies. The third chapter leads to chapter 4 which contents an analysis of the educational needs of the pastors at the Church of the Bretheren. The aim of this analysis is to identify the existing educational needs and to find out how these educational needs were fulfilled during the internal church preparatory vicar program.
