Alkali Activated Systems
Bílek, Vlastimil ; Rovnaník, Pavel (referee) ; Vlček, Jozef (referee) ; Ptáček, Petr (advisor)
This doctoral thesis is focused on the possibilities of alkali-activated slag (AAS) shrinkage reduction, which would together with the use of waste sludge from waterglass production contribute to wider practical utilization of this interesting material. Besides the influence on AAS dimensional changes also effect of various factors on workability, setting time and mechanical properties was investigated. Obtained results were supported by the application of instrumental techniques like izotermal calorimetry, mercury intrusion porosimetry, scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction. The results show the possibilities of reduction of AAS drying shrinkage related to its cracking tendency through the combination of increased dose of waterglass and reduced water to slag ratio (w/b), partial replacement of slag by pulverized fly ash or cement by-pass dust and application of organic admixtures, where significant effect on AAS hydration was observed. On the basis of the obtained results concrete mixtures, where the whole activator was replaced by the waste sludge form waterglass production, were designed and optimized in terms of shrinkage, mechanical properties and price. Selected concretes were also tested in semi-operating conditions.

Drug-related problems as a potential cause of hospitalizations
Očovská, Zuzana ; Vlček, Jiří (advisor) ; Trejtnar, František (referee) ; Urbánek, Karel (referee)
Charles University, Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové Training Workplace Department of Social and Clinical Pharmacy Doctoral Degree Program Clinical and Social Pharmacy Candidate PharmDr. Zuzana Očovská Supervisor prof. RNDr. Jiří Vlček, CSc. Title of Doctoral Thesis Drug-related problems as a potential cause of hospitalizations Introduction and objectives: A drug-related problem is an event or circumstance involving drug therapy that actually or potentially interferes with desired health outcomes. Manifested drug-related problems may contribute to hospital admissions of patients. Such hospital admissions, known as drug-related hospital admissions (DRA), represent a significant and potentially preventable burden on health systems. DRA often arise from the combination of multiple medications, making it important to pay increased attention to drug interactions, particularly in older patients who are taking a larger number of medications. DRA can result from inappropriate medication dosing or the selection of medications in the presence of chronic kidney disease. The main objectives of this thesis are: 1) to determine the prevalence and preventability of DRA and to identify medications and clinical manifestations associated with DRA in patients admitted to hospital via the department of emergency...

Mašková, Daniela ; Vlček, Jiří (advisor) ; Malý, Josef (referee)
Candidate: Daniela Mašková1 Supervisor: prof. RNDr. Jiří Vlček, CSc.1 Consultant: PharmDr. Zuzana Očovská1 Title of the master thesis: Analysis of drug-drug interactions in patients admitted to hospital (II.) 1 Department Social and Clinical Pharmacy, Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové, Charles University Drug-drug interactions (DDIs) are part of drug-related problems. Drug-related problems can be either potential (possibly leading to real problems for the patient) or manifest (the problem already impacts the patient). This study aims to identify potential DDIs in the medication history of patients acutely admitted to University Hospital Hradec Králové via the department of emergency medicine. The objectives are to determine the prevalence of hospital admissions with at least one potential DDI in the medication history and characterize the identified potential DDIs with respect to their mechanism, severity rating, level of documentation, and potential consequences. Another objectives was to identify medication classes involved in potential DDI. The design of this study is an observational cross-sectional study. The data were obtained from the previous study examining the drug-relatedness of 1252 hospital admissions. For the purpose of my master's thesis, a sample of 378 hospital admissions was...
The image of Ireland and the reflection of the Northern Ireland conflict in Czechoslovakia in the 1970s and 1980s
Vlček, Jiří ; Vojtěchovský, Ondřej (advisor) ; Halama, Vojtěch (referee)
The thesis aims to analyze the perspective on the Northern Irish conflict (The Troubles) presented to its readers by Rudé právo (The Red Right), a periodical publication. The research is based on the premise that Rudé právo expressed the viewpoint of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia (KSČ) and thus the KSČ's stance on the Northern Irish conflict. The study examines the preferences of Rudé právo, and by extension, the KSČ, towards the various conflicting factions in Northern Ireland, along with the factors influencing these preferences. The analysis focuses on articles published in Rudé právo that addressed events in Northern Ireland during the investigated period. Of particular importance for the analysis are contributions from correspondents and associates of Rudé právo abroad, as they are the most comprehensive and prominently reflect the authors' opinions. The scope of the study is chronologically delimited to the years 1970 to 1975, thereby concentrating on the most violent phases of the conflict. Keywords: Northern Ireland, Great Britain, Northern Irish conflict, The Troubles, Rudé právo, Communist Party of Ireland, Communist Party of Czechoslovakia.

Štěpánek, Václav ; Dědeček, Petr (advisor) ; Vlček, Josef (referee)
Title: The use of DTS systems for temperature logging in deep boreholes. Author: Václav Štěpánek Department: Institute of Hydrogeology, Engineering Geology and Applied Geophysics Supervisor: Mgr. Petr Dědeček, Ph.D., GFÚ AV ČR Abstract: The signifcance of deep geothermal energy is progressively growing, similar to the extraction of unconventional oil and gas reserves, which involves the drilling of deviated wells in regions with elevated temperatures. Temperature measurements play a fundamental role in exploration, drilling, and subsequent monitoring, with equipment evolving due to technological advancements, particu- larly in temperature measurement capabilities. The aim of this thesis is to focus on a Distributed Temperature Sensing (DTS) system that utilizes fber optic technology for temperature logging. Specifcally, these fber optic sensors enable continuous profle measurements in real time, which is well-suited for capturing dynamic changes in the temperature feld. Simultaneously, fber optic cables demon- strate durability and reliability, making them suitable for permanent installations in high-temperature, high-pressure, and highly corrosive environments. The resul- ting variability in deployment enables adaptation within the measurement context. In deep borehole measurements, the DTS can be...
