Cult of stones in the eastern Mediterranean
Western Additional and Iconographic Elements in Chinese Art of the Period of Disunity and Their Reflection in the Decoration of the Buddhist Cave Temples at Yungang, Northern Wei Dynasty
Svobodová, Kateřina ; Maršálek, Jakub (advisor) ; Charvát, Petr (referee) ; Hrubý, Jakub (referee)
This PhD thesis focuses on additional decorative and iconographic motifs of Western origin that were transmitted to China during the Period of Disunity and penetrated Chinese Buddhist art. Many of these elements are not limited to Buddhist art, but also found use in profane art and became one of the sources from which later Chinese style was formed. Due to a very high concentration of the above mentioned motifs the complex of Buddhist caves at Yungang (Shanxi), cut during the reign of the Northern Wei dynasty (386-535 A. D.), was chosen as a basis of the comparative study. As this thesis proves, the influence of the Gandhāran art, whose elements were being spread to China especially through the region of modern Xinjiang, played an important role in the development of these patterns. At the same time it also shows, that Buddhist art was just one of the media of transmission of the foreign motifs and that this transmission occurred repeatedly during centuries, in several waves. This dissertation attempts, through the comparative analysis of the artifacts as well as through analysis of cultural and historical background and preserved information about work and life of craftsmen making the Buddhist and other works obtained by the study of primary literary sources, to shed light on the complexity of the...

Stanovení ochlazovací funkce zelené střechy v areálu Nadace Partnerství v Brně
Svobodová, Kateřina
The submitted bachelor thesis aims to determine the cooling effect of the green roof in the premises of the Nadace partnerství in Brno. The evaporation of the green roof was determined by the Bowen ratio. The cooling effect was quantified as the proportion of energy consumed in the vapor to the energy supplied by the Sun. Measurements were carried out by means of sensors for the measurement of climatic parameters in the period April - October 2017. The monthly sum of greenhouse vapor ranged from 34 to 125 mm/m2 and 46-69% of energy was consumed during evaporation.

v anglickém jazyce The subject of this diploma thesis is the work of the francophone writer Patrick Chamoiseau. The thesis reflects especially the theme of slavery in short stories and fairy tales of this Martinique author. The diploma thesis puts Patrick Chamoiseau's work in a historical and political context as well as the personal life of the writer. The diploma thesis describes geographic and cultural particularities of the Lesser Antilles and analyzes in more detail the story The Slave Old Man and the Giant Dog and selected fairy tales. Based on this analysis, the thesis describes typical themes and language tools used by Patrick Chamoiseau. The thesis also deals with oral literature and culture of Martinique and the current problems of society are also discussed through a reflection of another work by Patrick Chamoiseuau.
The Occurence Of Bla(Tem) And Tet(W) Genes In Czech Wastewaters And Their Fate In Fungal-Based Wastewater Treatment Processes
Svobodová, Kateřina ; Adámek, M. ; Petráčková, Denisa
Antibiotic resistant bacteria and genes (ARB&Gs) have presently emerged as serious environmental pollutants with a high health risk. This study analyzed the occurrence of ARGs tet(W), bla(TEM) and intl1 in microbiomes from 4 Czech wastewater treatment plants showing that bla(TEM) displayed slightly higher gene abundance compared to tet(W). Next, simulated wastewater seeded with activated sludge bacteria was treated with Pleurotus ostreatus-based bioreactor to evaluate the effect of the fungal filter on bacterial community structure and bacterial resistome in wastewaters. The results showed that functional diversity of bacterial communities was significantly changed by their contact with fungal biofilm as revealed by EcoPlate assays and analyses of bacterial 16S rDNA by denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis. A significant decrease in tet(W) abundance (48 times) was observed in fungal-treated wastewater compared to untreated one. The abundance of bla(TEM) genes increased 4 times during the adaptation of bacteria to nutrient conditions and remained unaffected by the fungal treatment. To our knowledge this work is first to study the fate of ARGs in wastewaters during their advanced biological treatment. It documented that P. ostreatus has a potential to lower the abundance of some ARGs in wastewaters.
Functional morphology of schistosome miracidia
Svobodová, Kateřina ; Horák, Petr (advisor) ; Bulantová, Jana (referee)
Trematodes of the family Schistosomatidae are important pathogens invading various species of birds and mammals, including man. Miracidium is the first larval stage in the complex life cycle of these parasites. The fate of the parasite depends on the ability of the larva to find, recognize and penetrate into a suitable snail host. Miracidium locates its snail host actively. Miracidium respond to environmental cues and also by recognition of specific glycoproteins produced by snails to the water environment. Free-living miracidium has limited energy reserves, so it has to find and penetrate into a suitable host as quickly as possible. Cilia serve to fast movement in the aquatic environment. The surface of the miracidium is covered with flat ciliated epidermal plates arranged in four tiers. These plates are separated from each other by epidermal ridges. The anterior end of miracidia is cone-shaped and is called apical papilla. Apical papilla is a key tool for penetration and it contains openings of penetration glands. Miracidia display a variety of sensory receptors which help miracidium in orientation. However, there is not much known about miracidial receptor function. Miracidial morphology can serve as a suitable characteristic for schistosome species identification. The thesis summarizes the...
