Intensive Interaction as an approach for helping children with autism spectrum disorder

This thesis examines the possible use of Intensive Interaction in a child with autism. The theoretical part contains a description of autism spectrum disorders, unravels the difficulties children with autism face in the areas of sociability and communication, offers an overview of the theoretical background of Intensive Interaction and describes the way in which Intensive Interaction works. The practical part includes a case study of work with the Intensive Interaction method on developing social and communication skills in a child with autism. It was found that during the three months of the intervention, progress was made in the areas of sociability and communication and that some new patterns of behaviour emerged, such as eye contact, imitating classmates, social smile, shared attention or pointing to an object or activity. There has also been observed a significant reduction of stereotyped behaviour.
Self-concept of an individual with an autism spectrum disorder and its reflection from the point of view of close people

This bachelor thesis deals with the self-concept of an individual with an autistic spectrum disorder and the reflection of their self-concept through the perspective of his close person. The theoretical part, that is separated to four parts, presents the history of approaches to ASD and its symptoms, I describe three main problematic features for individuals with autism. Then it describes the self- concept, historical and present approaches and concrete parts of self-concept, it also shows the results of previous research of the self-concept of individuals with ASD and presents the possibilities of examining the self-concept. In the empirical part, I deal with the specifics of the self-concept of individuals with ASD, the degree of adequacy of the view of close people and the most significant differences between the statements of close people and individuals with ASD. It also includes three case studies of respondents with ASD, their close people and its mutual comparisons. I describe the self-concept of individuals with ASD, view of their close people and I compare those two views. I also look for common topics for those respondents. I answer my research questions on this base. I compare my research with current researches. I also reflect possible limitations of my research.
People with Autism in the Czech society in the last fifty years

This bachelor thesis tries to describe the autistic life in the Czech Republic during the last decades. It deals with the autistic spectrum disorders (ASD) both of children and adults. The theme is how the autistic people manage(d) everyday acts and necessary affairs, e. g. fFinding a job. I describe the integration of the autistic people into the society too and what stance the society, public institutions and science have (had) on them. The thesis is alsoo focuses d on the legislation connected to ASD and care of autistic people. I also intend to describe the evolution of these aspect in time. The theoretical part is particularly focused on the general ASD features which influence their everyday life and integration in the society. Additionally, the theoretical part already contains particular description of the autistic life of the Czech Republic and abroad, the past and recent times and the view of the autistic individuals and the society. The heart of the empirical part is based are dialogueson interviews with autistic people who narrate their own life story and respond to a set of some in advance given questions. Based on them, I get other information about the autistic life in the Czech Republic.
The impact of kindergarten teacher on the children from socially disadvantaged environment

The diploma thesis deals with kindergarten teachers who devote themselves to children from socially disadvantaged family backgrounds. It monitors the influence of teachers on a preschool child from this environment. The theoretical part elaborates on professional knowledge about preschool children, and the approach of kindergarten teachers to preschool children in the environment of kindergarten. It also concerns the socially disadvantaged family environment and its characteristics. It monitors the importance of kindergarten for these children. It processes information on the social and legal protection of children. Last but not least, it considers the issue of other helping professions. The practical part is focused on examining the experience and attitude of kindergarten teachers towards children from the environment mentioned above. It reveals the view of teachers on children from socially disadvantaged backgrounds in terms of the characteristics of the environment. It deals with the attendance of children in kindergarten and its importance for preschool children. It monitors the cooperation of teachers with OSPOD and other organizations involved. Work with atypical children group with an aim on the development of social ability

This Diploma thesis focuses on the development of social skills in an atypical child group, particularly in the children`s homes groups. The goal of this research is to find out, whether a social skills programme can be implemented in the specific group. Further it is aiming to identify deficits in social skills of these children and to create activities, that would help with those areas to develop. The theoretical part deals with social skills and psychosocial development of children in primary school age. This part also focuses on the development specifics of children growing up in children`s homes and the principles and policies of work with the child group and the options of the children development. The empiric part contains the description of the methodology and analysis of the obtained data. In its first half, the empiric part focuses on the analysis of the extracts from the survey of work with the children. In its second half, it analyses the topics, that were frequently appearing in the survey. The thesis is enriched by detailed case studies of the children and extracts from the research diary. Sibling relationships from an adult perspective

In my diploma thesis I summarized the background and findings on family and siblings, the specifics of the sibling relationship and the factors that affect it - especially sibling positions, age difference, number of siblings and gender, that all based on specialized literature. Another topic that my diploma focused on was sibling dynamics - especially rivalry and jealousy and the development of a sibling relationship throughout human's life. The empirical part of the thesis was dedicated on quantitative research in which respondents answered questions about their personal sibling relationships. The chosen form of research was a questionnaire, that was divided into two parts concerning ‚the childhood' and ‚the present'. The aim was to see the adult's point of view and their subjective evaluation of their sibling relationships in childhood and in adulthood. The results of my research have claimed that the satisfaction with the relationship in childhood affects the satisfaction in adulthood, moreover respondents had been more satisfied with the sibling relationship they have in their adult life than in childhood (except for the position of middle siblings, who were more feeling satisfied in childhood). Motivation of employees of the diagnostic institute to perform the profession

This thesis, entitled Motivation of employees of diagnostic institutes to perform a job, focuses on the topic of work in diagnostic institutes in the position of an educator and its specifics, characteristics, and work motivation. It consists of two main parts. In the first, theoretical part, the concept of motivation is defined and characterized. There are several basic approaches mentioned regarding its conception. Subsequently, this topic is expanded by the definition of work motivation. It is further accompanied by the most important theories that have an impact on how society views the issue. The expected factors which individuals choose as the reason for doing the profession of an educator are mentioned as well. The conclusion of the theoretical part is briefly describing diagnostic institutes, their legislative anchoring, goals and mission, and the list of required professions. It is further extended by a more detailed description of the educator profession. The theoretical part of the work is followed by an empirical part. The cooperation between family and school in the case of pupils with special educational needs from teachers' point of view

Annotation: Michaela Kaštánková Pecháčová's diploma thesis "The cooperation between family and school in the case of pupils with special educational needs from teachers' point of view" deals with the issues of school-family cooperation. It is divided into a theoretical part, which describes the functions of the family and school, forms of cooperation and communication between both parties. It also focuses on the role of educational counsellor and form teacher. Theoretical knowledge is mainly from the field of pedagogy, psychology, didactics and special pedagogy, as well as from professional experience. The second part of this thesis is the research. The research consists of two parts. The first part deals with the area of expertise of the educational counsellor during the online education. The second part researches the opinions of the teachers about the problematics of the cooperation between school and parents in primary educational system using qualitative interviews with teachers and subsequently their analysis.
