Information support in financial institution

(anglicky) This thesis entitled Information support in a financial institution discusses how information services and resources are currently used internally in an institution focusing on the Czech banking environment. The reader is thus provided an insight directly into the organization and the position it takes towards working with information aiming at fulfilment of its employees' information needs. The thesis also reflects description of the most important information sources. Information needs of employees were analyzed and identified based on their frequency of occurrence and distribution across the bank. The following part of the work covers detailed identification of information services. The reader is hereby given the opportunity to find out where, by whom and to what extent the services are used. The conclusion deals primarily with the information models of the flow of information in the organization and the analysis of various entities affecting the relevant processes.
School and extracurricular programs to support children's reading in Belgium

This diploma thesis is about the problematic of children's reading and analyses the way the French speaking part of Belgium supports it. The introduction part of the thesis presents the Belgian primary school's system and introduces us to the main political competencies in Belgium. After that, the next chapter is about children's literature. On one hand, it approaches this kind of literature from the historical point of view and, on the other hand it is focused on the content of this literature. Follow a subchapter about reading's habits and about the different factors that have an influence on children's reading literacy. It mentions the role that play the school and the family to support children's reading. The third chapter presents a certain number of Belgian projects that support children's reading. Most of them are applied on a state basis. The fourth and last chapter is about the situation in the Czech Republic. It also looks at the way Belgium and Czech Republic could inspire each other in this area. The conclusion of the diploma thesis summarizes the content of the work and proposes a direction of further reflection.
Analysis of Information Sources for Development of Software Application for Printing Industry

Diploma work is targeted on analysis and description of information sources for software application and management information systems in printing industry. At first information needs and information overloading are shortly defined. Next are descripted concepts of printing industry, software for printing industry and relatives concepts of management information systems and workflow systems. In next chapter keywords for information retrieval was arranged in hierarchical tree structures. Core specialised journals and usefull information sources were found within information retrieval. In work are involved both deep web sources and surface web information sources. Found information object are descripted and cited by ISO 690. At the end of work are given categorised bibliographic lists and simple web page project for specialised information portal.
Inclusive Nature of Twitter Communication: Is Twitter Really a Democratizing System?

The thesis explores a very current topic of politicians' behaviour on social media with the emphasis on the inclusive and democratizing potential of these systems. The theoretical framework begins with a short introduction of Twitter and its functions followed by an insight into the history of using Twitter as a tool in political campaigns. The thesis also explores studies from abroad focused on the interactive element of politicians' communication on Twitter. The research contains an analysis of 60 Twitter accounts of Czech politicians which aims to answer the question if - and to what extent - Czech politicians interact on Twitter, whether they reply only to elite groups such as media and influencers or to citizens as well, supporting the democratizing potential of social media.
The deployment of a new e-book lending service in the Public Library of Úvaly

The bachelor thesis deals with the topic of electronic lending of fictional documents in public libraries. The work is based on the marketing view of the public library on e-book lending issues and is divided into two parts. In the first part, after defining the term of e-book loan, follows a detailed course of action for the implementation and realization of service in a particular institution of the Municipal Library of Úvaly. The second part of the thesis evaluates the use of the e-book lending service after two years of operation, based on e-borrowing statistics and a quantitative questionnaire survey addressed to registered library readers. Based on the results of the research, recommendations have been formulated to improve the functioning of the e-book lending service. The procedure for commissioning the service and the actual operation of the service in a particular time period has also been evaluated.
Analysis of the project "Information system of basic registers" and its implementation

This diploma thesis deals with Information system of basic registries and its implementation. The information system consists of four main registries (Registry of Inhabitants, Registry of Persons, Registry of Territorial Identification, Addresses and Real Estates and Registry of Rights and Obligations) and system of ORG. The thesis defines crucial documents which deal with this project and the basic terms of Basic Registries Act No. 111/2009 Coll. and other related acts are explained. This thesis also compares the public administration before and after the activation of basic registries and the most important part is public survey which discovers knowledge about basic registries and responds to determined hypotheses.
The Role of Libraries in Overcoming Digital Exclusion of the Long Time Unemployed

This bachelor thesis deals with the role of libraries in overcoming the digital exclusion of the long-term unemployed. The objective of the work is to uncover what is the information behaviour of long-term unemployed citizens in libraries and to reveal the services that are specifically designed for them. The bachelor thesis includes a theoretical part, which contains an analysis of definitions related to the topic and their placement in a broader context, and an annotated search of literature related to the topic. The practical part involves qualitative research carried out in the form of semi-structured interviews with three employees of regional libraries. The selected regional libraries were the North Bohemian Research Library in Ústí nad Labem, the Regional Library in Karlovy Vary and the Moravian-Silesian Scientific Library in Ostrava. These libraries were selected specifically for the socio-economic situation in the regions in which they are located. Development in LIS - based on content analysis of contributions on prestigious LIS conferences

Library and information science is a dynamic interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary field of study. This bachelor's thesis defines LIS in an international and Czech context and identifies the main trends in the field based on a literature review of papers published between 2017 and 2020 conducted in major LIS databases. An overview of metrics used to measure the prestige of conferences is also provided and 20 major LIS conferences are briefly described. From these two prestigious conferences with a wide scope of LIS are selected, namely IFLA's World Library Congress and iSchools' iConference. In the practical part of the thesis, a qualitative content analysis using grounded theory is conducted to analyze the years 2011, 2015, and 2019 of the proceedings of both conferences. Four main thematic groupings were identified: Information Science, Librarianship, ICT and Society. It was found that the thematic distribution of topics is relatively constant during the analyzed period. WLIC is dominated by themes related to academic and public libraries, innovation of library services, social problems, information literacy, LIS education and catalogization. UX Principles and the City: Case Study of UX and UI in Public Transit Fare Transactions

The text of the thesis deals with the purchase of public transport fares in terms of user- friendliness and usability. The aim is to map the area of fare purchase theoretically and practically, including the user perspective. The theoretical ground is the concepts of User Experience, User Interface, Human-computer Interaction, smart city, the theory of the city as an interface. Important parts are also the theoretical aspects of the User Experience in the city environment. Literature review of current research in public transport ticketing systems with user-friendliness perspective presents current topics in the field of public transport ticketing. The practical part of the thesis describes the public transport ticketing systems in Prague and Copenhagen in detail, their possibilities, rules, and specifics. Primary research in the form of semi-structured interviews provides insight into the User Experience and reveals the perceived advantages and disadvantages of local systems.
Information behavior of 8th and 9th grade pupils in relation to the protection of their own privacy on social networks

i Abstract This diploma thesis deals with the information behavior of the pupils in the 8th and 9th grades of primary schools in relation to the protection of their own privacy on the social networks Facebook and Instagram. The aim of the work is to find out: - how pupils are interested in the issue of protecting their privacy on these networks and where they get this information from (parents, school), - if they are aware of the associated risks and how they take them into account in their behavior, - whether they know the tools available to them on these networks, - how the above affects their manners on selected social networks in terms of content and form of shared information. The theoretical part of the thesis deals mainly with the characteristics of selected social networks Facebook and Instagram in terms of privacy protection against possible threats. The practical part presents the results of quantitative research, which was carried out in the form of a questionnaire among 8th and 9th grade elementary school students.
