Communication skills of youth volleyball coach and their development by VIG

This multiple case study relates to the field of sport psychology describing coach's tasks and skills. Good communication skills contribute to performance enhancement, personal growth, and good interpersonal relationship and also to positive training and motivational climate. The aim of this multiple case study is to use the Video Interaction Training method for working with coaches in order to develop their communication skills and consequently evaluate utility of this method. This study helps to increase the number of Video Interaction Training application areas and shows the direction how it is possible to educate coaches and improve their skills. Psychological background of usage of English phrases acronyms in schools

The thesis talks about psychological aspects of English phrases acronym usage among adolescent students of primary and secondary schools. It looks at which acronyms adolescents use, how they understand, use and perceive them and finally what are the specifics of vulgar acronym use. The theoretical part introduces the term acronym and sets it into a broader context of language and specifically e-language. It further talks about adolescence and specifics of adolescent communication. As acronyms that adolescents use the most come from electronic communication, it is also given a fair amount of attention. The empiric part offers research results of a survey consisting of two questionnaires. The results show that due to electronic communication adolescents abbreviate language intensively. The most popular way of abbreviating are acronyms. They use only limited number of selected acronyms though. Adolescents use acronyms exclusively among themselves. They expect rejection from adults. Even though almost all of them use acronyms, not all perceive them positively. Vulgar acronyms are used often and are not perceived as as strong as their unabbreviated versions. Sleep and Professional Stress of Teacher

The thesis deals with the topic of sleep and professional stress of teachers. The theoretical part provides information on workload, its sources and its possible consequences. From the long- term consequences of workload is paid attention to burnout syndrome, its symptoms and diagnostic possibilities. One part also reviews the results of burnout studies among teachers and attention is also paid to risk and protective factors. Furthermore, the theoretical part focuses on the topic of sleep, its physiological characteristics, the need and importance of sleep in human life and the consequences of insufficient sleep. It also provides information on selected sleep disorders. The last section of theoretical part summarizes studies of sleep in relation to stress and burnout, which is followed by the empirical part of the thesis. The aim of the empirical research is to investigate the quality of sleep among primary and secondary school teachers and to confirm relationships among sleep quality (PSQI), burnout syndrome (SMBM) and satisfaction with life (SWLS).

Number of pages and characters: 74 pages and 155 289 characters Number of appendices: 2 Number of references: 79 Abstract: This diploma thesis considers the self-efficacy concept from the point of view of social cognitive theory. The main goal of this thesis is to investigate the differences in the level of pupils' academic self-efficacy as well as the emotional perception of the change during the transition from primary to lower secondary education. The research was made on a sample of 173 fifth-graders using a questionnaire where the level of their academic self-efficacy and emotional perception of the change was measured during 3 times - before the transition, after the transition and after the adaptation to the change. The results did not prove a statistically significant decrease of the level of academic self-efficacy during the transition. Sibling relationships

The bachelor thesis concerns with sibling relationships between children growing up in the same family during childhood, adolescence and early adulthood. Particular emphasis is placed on the distinctive characteristics of the interactions between siblings, such as warmth and closeness, relative status and power, conflict and rivalry, and their impact on the perceived quality of the bond between brothers and sisters and the functioning of the relationships outside the family. Presented proposal of the empirical investigation is a quantitative replication study focused on a different perception of the parental treatment toward siblings, which is interpreted in the light of the experience of rivalry and jealousy between brothers and sisters.
Coaches' expectations in connection with their approach to athletes

The bachelor thesis introduces a topic of coache's expectations in connection with their approach to athlete. Expectations in context of Pygmalion effect or self-fulfilling prophecy are, at the beginning, generally characterized from a social psychology point of view and then more specified in terms of sport psychology. The thesis is based on a four-step expectation cycle, which is applied on specific areas of sport psychology. The aim of this work was to map which sources are used by coach to create expectations towards some athlete and how these expectations effects his/her approach towards the athlete. The empirical part of the thesis introduces a research design focusing on changes of coache's behavior towards the athlete, all in context with expectations the coach helds towards the athlete. Psychological analysis and comparsion of classical and modern fairy tales

This thesis deals with the psychological analysis of modern and classic fairy tales and their role in children's mental development, especially in children of preschool age. In the literature-survey section it is focused on the definition of the concepts of modern and classic fairy tales and on the presentation of the theories of the analysts who have studied this topic, such as e. g. Bruno Bettelheim and Marie-Louise von Franz. Furthermore, this work provides a brief overview of areas which are important for preschool children and offers several perspectives on why fairy tales are important at this stage for the optimal development of the child, and which conflicts they can help them solve. The research proposal covers the benefits and practical use of modern and classic fairy tales in educating and working with preschool children. The opinions of three samples of experts on this group - parents, educators working in nursery schools and educational psychologists - are explored using semi-structured interviews.
Development of sexual identity in preschool age

The theme of the thesis is development of sexual identity in preschoolers. The theoretical part pays attention to the importance of family, peer groups and pre-school insitution in relation to the development of sexual identity. The importance of maternal and paternal roles so as siblings constellation in the context of the development of sexual identity are taken into account. Within the nursery school is mentioned the importance of peer groups and teacher. In the theoretical part is also mentioned incomplete family with regards to the risk in the development of sexual identity. The draft research project is in the form of kvaziexperiment with boys of preschool age. Its content follows on conclusions of the theoretical part of sibling and peer relationships. Methods for detecting cognitive deficits in preschool children

The bachelor thesis deals with methods for detecting cognitive deficits in preschool children. The theoretical part aims on cognitive level of preschool children and cognitive deficits, which can occure at this age. There are described diagnostic methods, which are used in the Czech Republic in order to detect cognitive deficits in preschool children. Furthermore, the thesis focuses on dynamic testing and its comparsion with classical intelligence tests. The empirical part contains design of an experimental study. The purpose of the study is to verify the effectivity of ACFS, a new method of dynamic testing, in long-term perspective. Social Skills of English Teachers in Educational Interactions at Secondary Schools

The aim of the dissertation is to define the requisite social skills of the English language teacher as a part of his/her professional competence, in the context of communicative language teaching in classroom interactions at secondary schools. The theoretical part is divided into four chapters. The first chapter addresses the processes involved in foreign language learning and acquisition. It first defines the linguo-didactic framework of the dissertation in terms of the functional communicative approach to language and communicative language teaching. The second chapter deals with the processes of interaction and communication at school with an emphasis on foreign language teaching. Attention is paid to functions and content of educational interactions as practised by the main stakeholders - the teachers and their adolescent pupils. The specifics of foreign language educational interaction and its social features are illustrated. The third chapter seeks to define social skills and their relationship to other skills in the professional competence of the English teacher. In the final chapter the theoretical discussion is summarized and social-skill aspects of foreign language educational interactions are defined.
