Biological mechanisms playing a role in origin in stress
Sákrová, Anna ; Červinková, Monika (advisor) ; Javůrková, Alena (referee)
The main topic of the bachelor's thesis are the biological mechanisms taking place in the body of an individual under the influence of stress or during an ongoing stressful situation. The research project proposal is preceded by a literature review, focusing on stress as a separate concept and the individual biological mechanisms involved in its origin, as well as nervous and humoral mechanisms, including stress hormones. This part is also focused on a brief introduction to post-traumatic stress disorder. Within the design of the research project, the work is focused on the possibility of increased depressive symptoms in people diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder. The aim of the research is to revel whether increased symptomatology is related with diagnosed post - traumatic stress disorder and if so, what relationship it is. The data will then be analyzed and compared with control group, with the possibility of expanding knowledge in this area through further research.
The meaning of 3,4-Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA) use in romantic relationships
Tenglerová, Hana ; Kočárová, Rita (advisor) ; Červinková, Monika (referee)
In recent decades, researchers' focus has returned to investigation of MDMA (3,4-Methylene- dioxymethamphetamine) effects and its possible psychotherapeutic applications including its use in context of conjoint psychotherapy. This bachelor thesis summarizes both studies of MDMA, "ecstasy" respectively, effects on interpersonal relationships and use of this substance in narrower context of couple relationships. The thesis also discusses possible overlaps between factors included in quality of couple relationship and effects of MDMA or "ecstasy". Based on the presented knowledge the thesis proposes a qualitative study aimed to examine the role of "ecstasy" use in couple relationships and it also suggests the possibilities of future research.
Microbiome and its role in the etiopathogenesis of mental disorders
Krejčí, Kateřina ; Červinková, Monika (advisor) ; Rodriguez Manchola, Mabel Virginia (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with the role of gut microbiome in the etiopathogenesis of mental disorders. It describes the communication axis between the brain, intestine and its microbiome, the so-called microbiome-gut-brain axis. The thesis also mentions important signaling agents that mediate this communication, the role of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis, its connection with the immune system and stress. The other part of the thesis describes the role of intestinal microbiome in the etiopathogenesis of selected mental disorders. The impact of dysbalanced microbiome on mental health is presented. Part of the thesis is also dedicated to new approaches to the treatment of these disorders using knowledge of intestinal microbiome, especially the potential benefit of probiotics. The proposed research would address the effectiveness of probiotics in the treatment of depression. Keywords Gut microbiome; Microbiome-gut-brain axis; Mental Disorders; Depression; Probiotic
Pornography consumption and partner sexual activity
Lexová, Eliška ; Weiss, Petr (advisor) ; Červinková, Monika (referee)
The topic of this thesis is the effect of pornography consumption on the partner sexual activity. The content of the theoretical part is the definition of pornography, history of pornography and psychological view on pornography. Furthermore, the work deals with the current psychological research concerning the influence on individual areas of sexual activity. The empirical part aims to discover the connection between the pornography consumption and sexual activity in relationships, such as frequency of sexual activities, sexual satisfaction, sexual communication and openness or repertoire and frequency of using partner sexual practices. The research was carried out using an anonymous online questionnaire, in which respondents were selected by the method of self-selection. The outcomes of the thesis could be used in relationship and sexuology counseling as a tool for deeper understanding of sexuality in relationships and for more accurate targeting of help in this area of problems. Keywords pornography consumption, relationship, sexual activity, sexual satisfaction, sexual communication
Visualisations as a possibility to influence biological processes
Červinková, Monika ; Bahbouh, Radvan (advisor) ; Kulišťák, Petr (referee)
(English) Guided imagery is not so far frequently used method, also there is not existing more extensive research in this field. Nevertheless, some papers showing potential of this technique can be found. This thesis deals with the use of guided imagery to influence biological (immune) processes. So far there is only a very small number of studies dealing with this topic. This is a pilot study in this particular application. The study included 38 participants. The effect of guided imagery on immunological parameters was monitored, as well as other factors that can be related to the effectiveness of the intervention (ease of process visualization, level of stress). The study also dealt with the possible influence of the metaphor in visualization content on its effectiveness. Although there is not clear result of this study on global level, there is a number of interesting partial results. Particularly, interesting observations significant in view of further research direction in this field have emerged from this work. In particular, the influence of stress, or more precisely its association with the guided imagery effect could be a promising area for further research. Based on this work, it is not possible to comment on the possible effect on guided imagery effect, because probands were not...
Inflammatory bowel disease
Růžičková, Radka ; Ehler, Edvard (advisor) ; Červinková, Monika (referee)
Infammatory bowel disease IBD is unspecified form of bowel inflammation represented by two types - Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn's Disease. UC is illness that typically affects intestine mucous membrane from rectum up to proximal parts of gastrointestinal tract. Affection in UC is limited only to colon. CD is characterised by inflammation of whole intestinal wall with common manifestation in ileocecal region but entire colon and small intestine can be affected. Patients with UC and CD suffer by extraintestinal manifestations similar for both diseases. Illness therapy is currently focused on biological treatment. People with IBD are not excluded from common life activities like school attendance, sports, etc. even they have complications or some sort of handicap. These patients can meet each other and seek advice within IBD associations all over the world.
Estimation of the election results by respondents and its usage
Červinková, Monika ; Tuček, Milan (advisor) ; Hendl, Jan (referee)
The diploma thesis "Estimation of the election results by respondents and its usage" discuss the methods of predicting the election results based on election expectations of individuals and shows how people form their expectations and how exact these expectations are. First short summary of existing methods of election results predictions and its limitations is presented - it also deals with pre-election surveys and its ambitions to predict the election results. The rest of the thesis focuses only on the prediction of the election results based on election expectations of individuals: prediction markets and aggregated estimations of respondents. Concept Wisdom of Crowds, from which both approaches originate, is presented together with concrete examples of application of the predictions based on opinions of prediction markets participants and respondents of the pre-election surveys. Results of the foreign studies confirm that the prediction markets predict the election results very well and with higher accuracy than the pre-election surveys. Current studies also positively evaluate the estimation of the election results done by respondents. Respondents are usually able to predict the election results, even several weeks before the elections. Last part of the thesis is based on my own quantitative...
Mechanisms involved in neurodegenerative disorders origin and their consequences in neurobiological interactions.
Červinková, Monika ; Kulišťák, Petr (advisor) ; Šivicová, Gabriela (referee)
Neurodegenerative disorders represent due to their still increasing trend serious problem not only medical, but also socio-economic. The most common disorders in human population include Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, Huntington's disease and Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. Underlying ethiopathogenetical mechanisms are not closely clarified yet. Potential conjunction between neurodegenerative disorders and stress is mentioned. Supposed relationship between neurodegenerative disorders and stress is based on knowledge of functional interrelationships among nervous, endocrine and immune systems. Animal models are very helpful for research in objective field and they can contribute to the elucidation of involved biological mechanisms. Knowledge of these processes could enable development of new diagnostic and therapeutic approaches in future.
