Determinants of perception of corruptive action

The diploma thesis is focused on the factors determining the perception of corruption, especially bribery. Its aim is to examine how selected situational and personality characteristics affect the extent to which certain behavior is perceived as corrupt. The theoretical part consists of the synthesis of theoretical knowledge about the phenomenon of corruption with a focus on its psychological aspects. The empirical part is based on the realization of the online questionnaire experiment, the main part of which consists of 11 hypothetical scenarios, which are evaluated in terms of the level of corruption. According to the prevailing finding is a certain behavior more often assessed as corrupt in the case of financial reward, "in advance" reward, required reward, the actor's consent to the incentive for corruption, the respondent's experience with bribery and surrogate experience with corruption. Less often, corruption is perceived in the presence of high probability of accepting or offering a bribe by the respondent, a high level of perceived prevalence of corruption in the Czech Republic and the perceived moral acceptability of corruption, and also in the case of service reward. Happiness at work in organizations-causes, contributors and consequences

The theoretical part of the thesis is focused on the topic of happiness at work and organizations. First part shortly illustrates the importance of the happiness for a relatively new discipline of positive psychology. The happiness is presented as an interculturally valuable emotion. Several definitions are further summarised as well as compared with the similar terms such as well-being or satisfaction. Moreover, some of the methods used for the happiness measurement are described. In the main part of the thesis, the happiness at work is presented as part of the current approach focussing on the positive aspects of the work environment. The next three subsections discuss the causes, contributors and consequences of happiness at work. Briefly, the related topic of employee engagement is mentioned as well. The last part of the thesis concludes how to measure happiness at work and organizations. The empirical part presents a research proposal which compares the levels of experienced happiness between the sport professionals and general population.
Work engagement: its pedictors and organizational outcomes

This thesis deals with the topic of work engagement. Firstly, various concepts of work engagement and approaches to measuring this concept are presented. Moreover, the context of engagement and its relations to important aspects of working life are being discussed. Lastly, links between work engagement and important organizational indicators of success are being outlined. The research project aims to determine relationships between selected work resources, work engagement and business performance, turnover and client satisfaction within the branch network of a Czech banking company. Research results showed a significant relationship between work engagement and all measured work resources. Part of the relationship between work resources and work engagement has been shown to be mediated through perceived meaningfulness of work. Furthermore, the significance of work engagement as a predictor of business performance was successfully verified. No significant correlations were found between work engagement, turnover and client satisfaction. The effectivity of sociomapping intervention for selected charateristics of work teams

Diploma thesis strives to identify the effectiveness of sociomapping in relation to selected charakteristics of work groups and teams. Literature review section defines the theoretical background of group and teamwork, which is being followed by the topics of team states and processes, team communication, mental models, team climate and teamwork effectivity. The final part focuses on team interventions, ways of evaluating their effectiveness and introduces specific aspects of sociomapping. The empirical part uses quantitative research approach, which analyzes the relationship between the method of sociomapping and its effect on the frequency of team communication, shared mental models in the form of the difference between the optimal and current frequency of communication and team climate. The sociomapping intervention is expected to have an effect on team performance in the form of higher hotel rating and team performance assessment. Both values were measured before and after the intervention. It is expected, that the frequency of team communication, the difference between optimal and current frequency of communication and team climate will behave as mediators. Influence of temperament dimension on individual and team resilience

The purpose of this diploma thesis is to describe the current findings on the relationship of temperament, dimensions of team communication and individual resilience. The theoretical part of the thesis introduces a findings of relevant theories of temperament, with focus on Cloninger's psychobiological concept. The topic of temperament continues by the definition of resilience and areas of particular application in occupational psychology is presented. Finally are presented a problems of team communication and related aspects of teamwork. The empirical part introduces the research realized with project teams of students from the University of Economics in Prague, in which 35 students from 7 project teams participated. The subject of the research was to determine possible correlation of team communication, temperament characteristics and their individual resilience. The main methods used in this work are a shortened version of the Cloninger inventory of TCI-56 (Adan, Serra-Grabulosa, Caci, & Natale, 2009), the standardized sociomapping questions (Bahboub, 2011) and the resilience scale CD-RISC-25 (Connor & Davidson, 2003). The relationship of coaching, self-efficacy, engagement and personality of employees in retail

The aim of this thesis is to find a relationship between coaching, self-efficacy, employee engagement and personality traits according to the Big Five theory, that means openness to experience, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness and neuroticism. In the theoretical part, the thesis is devoted to measuring the effectiveness of coaching interventions, with a focus on finding connections with the concepts of self-efficacy, engagement and personality traits. The empirical part describes a quasi-experimental research verifying the assumption, that coaching had a significant impact on all monitored independent variables. The experimental group consisted of store managers of unnamed retail company, which were divided into experimental and control group. The experimental group attended six coaching sessions over six months, focusing on any topic related to their work life. The control group did not attend any coaching session. Both groups were tested at the beginning of the coaching program and afterwards. Assessment for selection and development of employees: Competency model for entry-level salespeople in services

This thesis focuses on the proper use of various assessment methods for selection and development of employees in various positions within an organization. The selection and use of assessment methods have been tailored to practical requirements for each position in the organization with regard to their specificities. This current thesis elaborates on the assessment for technical, administrative, managerial jobs with special emphasis being put on the assessment for sales positions. Within the strategic assessment programmes the thesis deals with assessing the potential of individuals and the prediction of future behavior which is of great importance for the organization's future success. An Integrated Model of Potencial is specifically mentioned in this chapter and its practical use is suggested. In the second, empirical part of the thesis an attempt has been made to create a specific competency model for entry-level services salespeople and proposals for its practical use have been outlined. Gender and management position from the psychological perspective

Thesis deals with gender and its influence on management position from the psychological perspective. Initially it focuses on the general definition of gender as a social category compared to the category of sex. After that it analyses existing differences among women and men and also stereotypes associated with them. In the next part it deals with the question of gender in the field of work and organizations. In the third chapter the thesis focuses on the influence of gender on the management position in several contexts. The focal point of the paper is the analysis of different leadership styles and their application by women and men. The empirical part proposes a research design focused on the differences among women and men in leadership styles in our culture. Its aim is to analyse leadership styles in small groups and satisfaction of subordinates with their superior.
Work-life balance

Thesis focuses the topic of work-life balance in the context of psychology connecting the knowledge and practices of the applied field of work and organizational psychology. The theoretical part is devoted to defining work-life balance while considering the variability of psychological aspects considering the topic. It also characterizes selected areas of work-life balance, summarizes individual personality, developmental and social determinants that were in relation to the work-life balance research proved. Subsequently, attention is moved to the particular tools and strategies which can be useful in achieving or sustaining work-life balance, considering two basic levels. On the one hand, considering individual personal level in achieving balance of individual and on the other hand, the strategies and tools provided by organization leading to the work-life balance. The second part presents a proposal for a research project that aims is to track the relationship between the amount of time devoted to selected areas in the life of an individual, quality of spending time in terms of overall satisfaction and perceived fullness and desire or openness to change in individual's life in selected areas in the perceived work-life balance. Gender and work in the armed forces from a psychological perspective

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to explore current position of women in army and combat roles. In the exordium, we define the term armed forces and add a short summary of gender, gender stereotypes and roles. This leads us to the teoretical part, where we firstly address the common gender differences. We investigate relevant physical differences, motivation of men and women, social perception of gender roles, stereotype of woman as a weaker worker and influence of women on team. Then we confront gender stereotypes, army requirements and research data. Finally, we address big issues of women working in army, like sexual harrasment, motherhood and marriage of soldiers. Here we study problems like harrasement by a superior or effect of long period absence on a child. We inquire into how women in army are percieved by their male counterparts, gender roles in army and dilemma of double perception of female combatants - as women and as soldiers.
