Factors influencing the choice of church in young converts

The subject of this dissertation is the course of religious conversion and the process of decision-making when converts decide which church they want to join. The theoretical part of the dissertation describes three models of conversion process which are based on psychological research works. Further it deals with a church as a large group and a small group because relationships with other believers (which fulfil the person's need to belong to a group of people) are one of important factors which could persuade a convert to join a church. At the end of the theoretical part there are stated the results concerning the number of believers and members of Christian churches from the census held in the Czech Republic, and there is also described a specific relation of the Czech society to Christian churches. The other part of the dissertation describes the results of qualitative research among 20 converts. The aim of the research was to compare the conversion process of young people with the models described in the theoretical part and to find out reasons which led to their decision to join a particular church. Reflection of socialization discrepancies among adolescent clients in social services

This diploma thesis is focused on selected aspects of socialisation of adolescents. It examines natures of interactions of adolescents and adults, emphasises social relations perception and pursues the influence of authority on socialisation processes of this group. The thesis was written in a theoretically-empirical approach, given that the theoretical part clarifies the above-mentioned areas of research. The empirical part, on the other hand, applies the qualitative research design. The respondents group consists of adolescent boys and girls, all of whom are clients of OSPOD (Department of Social and Legal Child Protection) and curators for adolescence. Semi-structured interviews were conducted, analysing the issue of relations with individual socialisation variables and their reflection in the curators' point of view. It is assumed, socialisation processes and interactions are conflicting to a certain extent. In respect to their further development, it is necessary to understand these particular development symptoms and their perceptions. The outcome of this research is further elaborated and discussed in accordance to academic resources. Psychosocial situation of siblings of children with disabilities

The thesis deals with a psychosocial situation of siblings of children with a pervasiv disorder. The labour surveys new findings about the autism and an effect of autistic child on its sibling in the theoretical part. The part devoted to the autism is mostly focused on neurobiological findings of this disease. The part about siblings is specialised in pieces of knowledge from available researches and describes the present condition of scientific knowledge. The empirical part describes a psychosocial situation of siblings of autistic children. A qualitative method was used during the research. The main used method is a test called "FAST" (Family System Test) and a follow-up interview. The diploma work goes towards a deeper understanding of a psychological and social situation of a healthy sibling. Detailed studies of cases which indicate possible risks resulting from living with an autistic child are presented in the project. There are also mentioned tendencies of further research progress. Alternative family care in Czech Republic and possibilities of psychologist's involvement in this field

The diploma thesis is concerned about the theme of alternative family care in Czech republic, it is focused on psychologist's involvement in this field. It report summary of informations about menaced and abandoned children, about types of alternative family care, about profession of psychologist, who is concerned this theme and about failings in contemporary system. Empiri- cal part of the diploma thesis bring enrichment of opinions and point of view of experts working in this field, describe profession of psychologist, garner observations of experts to problems, which they see from their experience in alternative family care and bring suggestions for solu- tion. The diploma thesis give informations about possibilities in education of psychologist and organization's service for alternative and biological families. This diploma thesis is intented for psychologist, as well as for all the experts who wants to work in this field.
Psychological Aspects of Substitutional Family Care in Prague after 1989

The subject of submitted diploma thesis is primarily adoption and psychological aspects of substitutional family care in Prague after 1989. Diploma thesis deals with possibilities of substitutional family care in the Czech republic and process of adoption in Prague. My work is divided into two parts, the first theoretical part is oriented on clarification of basic terms such as family, parenthood, adoptive family and adoptive parenthood. In this part are mentioned possibilities of substitutional family care and process of adoption, highly- developed, history of adoption, form of this process in Prague and basic questions inseparable from adoption, e.g. identity of adoptive parents and adopted child, if it is good idea to tell the child about adoption, how to recognize healthy, good adoptive family. The experimental part of the thesis is examined on process of adoption and adoptive parents, their experience with preparation for adoption and integration of the child into the family. ĎURECHOVÁ, M. Pěstounství jako životní cesta. Rigorózní práce. Praha: Univerzita Karlova, 2011. 163 stran, 17 stran příloh. Rigorózní práce popisuje a analyzuje pěstounství jako zvolenou životní cestu. Práce je členěna na dvě části. V přehledové části představujeme teoretická východiska související s danou problematikou. Vymezujeme základní pojmy, zabýváme se faktory ovlivňujícími pěstounskou péči. Přibližujeme časově jednotlivá období pěstounství spolu s úkoly a problémy, které s sebou mohou přinášet. Podrobněji se věnujeme dětem, které přicházejí do pěstounské péče, jejich potřebám, zažité psychické deprivaci, poruchám přilnutí a s nimi souvisejícími specifickými projevy v chování a prožívání. Rozhovory s pěstouny a křivky pěstounství jsou výchozím materiálem pro kvalitativní analýzu v praktické části práce. Cílem je vyhledání a popsání stěžejních témat a kritických momentů v jednotlivých obdobích pěstounské péče. Vedle prezentace výsledků daného výzkumu se také pokoušíme o obohacení dostupné teorie k dané problematice, navrhujeme způsoby využití získaných poznatků v praxi a dáváme podněty k dalšímu zkoumání v oblasti pěstounské péče. Home preparation for school of child in the early school age

This thesis engages in the theme of early school-age pupil's home preparation for school particularly in collaboration between school, parents and child in the process of home preparation. The theoretical part of the thesis is focused on the relationship between adults and children in history. Hereafter we occupy with the child's socialization and evolutional aspects in preschool and younger school-age. We engage in the child's school entrance, school education and younger school-age children's home preparation from the view of the collaboration between the school, the family and the child in next chapters. The empirical part we address the attitudes of children and their parents to home preparation and the parent involvement in the home preparation in the first and second class. We are the most interested in the difference or the agreement in the given issue by the pupils of the first and second classes. The research is qualitative-quantitative composed. We devote to the theme from the point of the children in the qualitative part of the research and from the point of the children and their parents in the quantitative part. Usage and Application of Fairy Tale Test in Czech Republic (for the boys from capital city 6-12 years old)

in English Usage and Application of Fairy Tale Test in Czech Republic (for the boys from capital city 6-12 years old) This graduate work deals with the Fairy Tale Test and its application in the Czech Republic. The theoretical part presents characteristics of children in preschool, early school and middle school age. This section is concerned with importance of the fairy tales for children and emphasis is especially laid on fairy tales that uses the Fairy Tale Test. It presents the problems with children's diagnosis and introduces the Fairy Tale Test. The empirical part deals with the practical use of the Fairy Tale Test in the Czech Republic. Test was used in 60 boys aged 6-12 years from the capital city. The obtained data of children 6-7 years old was compared with data of another region. The data of 8-12 years old was compared with the CPQ and Questionnaire style education using correlation analysis. The data show that the Fairy Tale test is a good diagnostic tool with broad application also in the Czech Republic. Hopefully it will be soon standardized for the Czech Republic. The diagnosis of school maturity in relation to the pupil's adaptation to the 1st year of primary school

The theoretical part of the thesis deals with the determination of the development characteristics of the period from the age of three to eight (i.e. pre-school and younger school age). The principal focus is on the issue of school maturity, the possibilities of its diagnosis and the pupils' adaptation to the first year of primary school. The empirical part introduces a quantitative research focused on some diagnostic methods (the Orientation Test of School Maturity - Orientační test školní zralosti, the Knowledge Test of Pre-school Children - Zkouška znalostí předškolních dětí and The Star - Wave Test) and the possibility of using these methods for predicting a child's adaptation to the first year of primary school. The thesis aims to examine how these methods could be used and also to show the possible limits related to using these methods. Personal Conceptions of Death and Experienced Meaningfulness of Life

This study concentrates on psychology of death and psychology of meaning of life. The primary goal is to survey personal conceptions of death as a state. Theoretical part of this study presents psychological view on topics of death and human percieving of awareness of their own mortality, outlines intercultural view on common motives across eschatologies and their relation to various psychological and philosophical approaches on death, and summarizes certain aspects of ontogenesis of death conceptions. One chapter focuses on dimensions of psychological construct of meaning in life. Other chapter resumes previous psychological research on areas of psychology of death and psychology of meaningfulness of life. Both quantitative and qualitative approaches were used to explore our topic. To get descriptions of personal conceptions of death as state in population of young adults, qualitative methodes were used. Scales were administered to access levels of death anxiety and meaning in life, strenghts of belief in an afterlife, and to monitor emotions regarding own images of death as state. Relationship between death anxiety and emotions regarding own images of death as state was proven significant based on research realized on population of 51 young adults.
