Vašička, Jakub ; Benedek, Borislav (referee) ; Dulenčín, Juraj (advisor)
Diploma thesis theme is design of a new synagogue in the city of Trutnov on a memorial site of the original unpreserved synagogue. Part of the construction program is the creation of a complex used by the Jewish religious community and its members, containing a building for the Jewish community (administrative and educational use), kosher restaurants with use for the general public, and the Museum of Jewish Culture. Modeling the movement of people in the barrier-free city
Dobiášová, Lucie ; Poláčková,, Kateřina (referee) ; Okřinová, Petra (advisor)
The thesis deals with the issue of a barrier-free environment in the city of Brno, namely the area in front of the main train station on Nádražní Street. It assesses the current state according to Decree No. 398/2009 Coll. general technical requirements ensuring the barrier-free usage of buildings and their parts, with an emphasis on the comfort and mobility of people with movement restrictions. The current arrangement does not meet either structural, aesthetic, sociological, safety or traffic requirements. Knowledge of the area of barrier-free construction and special simulation tools for modeling people's movement have been used to design optimal solution. It has been found that space can be optimized by detailed analysis of simulation outputs to meet all expected requirements without negative impact on any of the areas mentioned above. Thanks to this, it was possible to achieve a new design, which made the area a full-fledged and representative part of the city center of Brno.
The Municipal Library of Frýdek-Místek
Rušarová, Eva ; Šindlar, Jiljí (referee) ; Marek, Jiří (advisor)
This Bachelor’s thesis concerns about design of the building of the city library in Frýdek-Místek. The site in question is situated in the historical center of Místek delimited by streets Hlavní třída, 8. pěšího pluku and Pivovarská. Currently, the location predominantly serves as an area for parking and also includes a bulding of a marketplace accompanied by few small market stands. The remaining area isn’t used. The design of the library (including a media, games and a sound library) aims to present a fully functioning institution for the 21st century with a welcoming environment for other related activities, therefore including a multifunctional hall and a cafe. A library, as perceived in modern times, apart from serving its visitors, also fulfills the function of a platform for interaction between various groups of the city’s residents. It should be a place for quiet educating but also for lively social interaction without barriers. The thesis also includes the design of modification of the surrounding area and the connections to the current transportation infrastructure.
Riverside House
Kropšová, Zuzana ; Františák, Luboš (referee) ; Nový, Vítězslav (advisor)
The location is situated in the area along the Svitava river, regulated for economic reasons at the turn of the 20th century. As the values are evolving, it is nowadays highly desirable to live by the river while having the view of the still flowing water. The aim of the thesis is to increase the attractiveness of today's inhospitable place and to offer the inhabitants a pleasant environment for living since no matter how superb the house is, the lack of a fine environment lowers its value. The proposal is based on the use of platforms as an ideal means of defining the hierarchy of spaces.

Murínová, Lenka ; Zadražilová, Miroslava (referee) ; Menšíková, Naděžda (advisor)
The topic of diploma thesis is to design a "city house", in a form of the intensive urban structure, using the area with the greatest efficiency in terms of housing, services and jobs on a relatively small area. The main function of the new complex is housing supplemented by services, as well as, leisure and education facilities. The art school, the gallery, the office space and other facilities serve not only the residents of the "intensive house", but also the rest of the public, with the possibility of getting new jobs at an accessible distance, which is the main task of an intensive structure. The aim is to create a multifunctional urban building that revitalizes the inefficiently used area and at the same time brings green spaces designed for relaxation that are missing in this area.
Street Harassment of Non-Heterosexual Women
Fialová, Markéta ; Sokolová, Věra (advisor) ; Pavlík, Petr (referee)
This constructivist diploma thesis focuses on the problem called street harassment, specifically in the context of non-heterosexual women, and its analysis through the intersection of gender and sexuality in the heteronormative society. The theoretic part explains the basic terminology such as heteronormativity, homonegativity and misogyny which is used for presenting the context in which street harassment takes place. The core part of the text is dedicated to the forms of such behaviour, its psychological and social impacts on non-heterosexual women and their lives, their reactions and coping strategies. The empirical part focuses on analogical subtopics but in the concrete context of street harassment of non-heterosexual female couples. Its goal is to describe and accentuate this area which has been marginalized in the Czech as well as foreign academic debate. For these purposes was chosen the qualitative empirical design, specifically eight semi- structured in-depth interviews. The results were analysed by the thematic analysis method because it enables to find the common themes as well as the valuable distinctions in the interviews. Keywords Street Harassment; Public Space; Heteronormativity; Non-Heterosexuality; Homonegativity; Misogyny; Gender-Based Violence; Intersectionality
City as a place of mind - Wilderness in public space
Vondrušková, Eliška ; Pfeiffer, Jan (advisor) ; Tsikoliya, Lenka (referee)
The thesis discusses the phenomenon of a city with a special focus on public space and its wilderness aspect. It examines the city as a place for non-human organisms to inhabit and discovers its specific habitat, which is populated by a vague terrain of various sizes. It traces the relationship between the city and nature, how this relationship has evolved throughout history, and how nature is brought into cities in the form of gardens and parks. It alludes to the theme of the second nature that surrounds cities. The main theme is urban wilderness, the uninvited nature of cities and its aspects. The aim of this thesis is to explore the topic of urban wilderness, its aspects and manifestations, which are then didactically transformed. This is preceded by the study of literature and fieldwork, which includes archiving and mapping of different spaces. The central city for this exploration is my birthplace and hometown of Prague which enables observation on an everyday basis (whether intended or unintended). The didactic part of the thesis focuses on the transformation of the topic into three wholly different art assignments, which offer the students three different perspectives. Each perspective is tied to their personal experience and two of the perspectives also directly include their presence in...
Implementation of the Cross-Curricular Subject Environmental Education in the School Subject Art Greenery as a city oasis
Zálešáková, Ester ; Pfeiffer, Jan (advisor) ; Sedlák, Michal (referee)
The goal of this diploma thesis is to find a way to implement the cross-cutting topic Environmental Education into the Art Education subject through an art project called Greenery as an Oasis of the City. And to find out whether it is therefore possible to lead pupils of two primary school classes to the principles presented by Environmental Education through an art project. The art project was based on the personal experience of the students gained during a few-hour stay in a selected city park and art activities that made this stay special and contributed to a more perceptive view of the environment in which the students moved. To verify the results achieved, qualitative research methods were used in the form of a structured interview with five randomly selected pupils from both classes. The students' answers showed that even through an art project, it is possible to strengthen the students' positive relationship with nature and the environment and contribute to the acquisition of internal motivation for a respectful and sustainable approach to nature. At the same time, it emerged from the pupils' answers and reactions that the overall benefit from the project for each pupil depended on the approach they took to the project, to what extent they concentrated on individual activities and to what...
