Commented translation of a text on science and technology

The aim of this semester thesis is to translate technical text from Czech language to English language in order to show translating capabilities of the author. Furthermore, author’s task is to comment on the topic of translation and differences between these two languages. This thesis, apart from introduction and conclusion, consists of two main parts. First one is Czech text dealing with technical problematics and translation of this text into English. In the thesis, both texts are present in order to be compared. This part is dominant in the means of extent. The second main part of this thesis is commentary to this translation, or rather commentary of the differences between target and source language. In this part the procedure of translation is also described, as well as some linguistic features that has been used.

Commented translation of a teaching material for electrical engineering

This bachelor thesis deals with the translation of a teaching material for electrical engineering with the aim of translating and analysing a technical text. The translated material will be then used for teaching in technical classes that focus on analog technology. The thesis has two parts. The practical part presents a chapter taken from the material and translated from Czech into English. The analytical part provides an analysis of the translated text along with examples. The analysis mainly focuses on the similarities and differences in conveying information between the original Czech text and English translation of the text.

The purpose of the bachelor thesis is to translate a technical text from Czech into English and analyze the differences between both languages in translation. The work presented is divided into three main parts: theoretical introduction, translation of the technical text and translation analysis. The theoretical introduction deals with the types of translation and characteristic features of the technical texts and their translation. The translated text deals with computer networks. In the last part, the language phenomena and characteristic features of the English and Czech languages are analyzed on the examples of the translated technical text.

Respondentní prostředky českých příslovcí míry ve španělštině (kontrastivní korpusová analýza)

Předmětem této bakalářské práce jsou respondentní prostředky českých příslovcí míry ve španělštině a jejich následná korpusová analýza. Cílem práce je provedení analýzy výrazových prostředků, které ve španělštině odpovídají významům vyjadřovaným v češtině příslovci míry. Práce je rozdělena na část teoretickou a část praktickou. Část teoretická je zaměřena zejména na pojetí daného tématu v použitých španělsky i česky psaných gramatikách a část praktická je zaměřena na provádění analýzy vybraných příslovcí míry v korpusu InterCorp. Na základě korpusové analýzy je následně učiněn závěr.

Překlad odborných textů z němčiny do češtiny

Cílem diplomové práce je nastínit problematiku překladu odborných textů z německého jazyka do českého jazyka. Teoretická část práce pojednává o současném stavu výzkumu odborných textů v českém a německém jazykovém prostředí, odborném diskurzu a členění textových typů a druhů v závislosti na kontextu. Dále tato práce podává kontrastivní pohled na odborné texty a jejich charakteristické znaky na rovině lexikální, syntaktické, textové a pragmatické. Diplomová práce se zaměřuje na odborné texty v oblasti zdravotnictví, jejich nejčastější textové druhy, specifické rysy a implikace pro překlad z německého jazyka do jazyka českého. Empirická část diplomové práce zahrnuje translatologickou analýzu vybraného textového druhu a přehled hlavních textových druhů z oblasti zdravotnictví s příklady paralelních textů. Pro získání objektivnějších informací je proveden průzkum mezi překladateli a překladatelskými agenturami. Dosažené výsledky jsou porovnány s poznatky nabytými v teoretické části. Závěr diplomové práce shrnuje výsledky zkoumání překladu odborných textů z němčiny do češtiny se zaměřením na oblast zdravotnictví a poskytuje podněty pro další výzkum.
