Thinking in Hannah Arendt's conception
Škardová, Michaela ; Zicha, Zbyněk (advisor) ; Rybák, David (referee)
The thesis is an essayistic exploration of Hannah Arendt's thinking, with the central aim of naming the specifics of this thinker's thought, her sources of inspiration and her conception of thinking itself. The thesis attempts to clarify in what ways Arendt's way of thinking may inspire. The starting point of the thesis is her conception of the vita activa and the vita contemplativa, where the distinction between these two lives serves as a starting point for exploring the soil of the spirit. In relation to spiritual activities, the main purpose of the thesis is then to clarify the uniqueness of inquiry in Hannah Arendt's conception and to highlight the inherent nature of thought. The thesis outlines why it is important to inquire after thought itself and suggests the grounds for why Hannah Arendt acts like that. The thesis seeks to show how we are in the world through thinking and how practical reason is the defining factor in today's society. The thesis culminates in the importance of questioning in the process of education. KEYWORDS Hannah Arendt, thinking, vita activa, vita contemplativa, action, speech, practical thinking, meaning, conscience, questioning

Structuralism and Concept of Discourse in the Work of Paul Ricoeur
Skoumal, Petr ; Borecký, Felix (advisor) ; Marcelli, Miroslav (referee)
This diploma thesis focuses on structuralism and concept of discourse in the work of French philosopher Paul Ricoeur. The aim of the thesis is to show Ricoeur's effort to interconnect structuralism and hermeneutics and, after this, to treat how this interconnection works as a general paradigm of human sciences. The point of departure is Ricoeur's revision of Saussurean structural approach which divides language into language system (langue) and speaking (parole). Then, the concept of discourse is grounded and the thesis proceeds to problems of text. By using the concept of discourse for written forms of language (texts), Ricoeur introduces this term to his hermeneutical approach. Its interconnection with structuralism is made possible by circular dialectics of explanation and understanding in which structuralism is shown to be necessary for the hermeneutical knowledge. Ricoeur's hermeneutical thought is also characterised by movement from text to action. Ricoeur finds some parallels between them and between the interpretations of them. By this, he proceeds from hermeneutics of text to hermeneutics of action and presents his conclusions as a general paradigm of human sciences. These are said to have a hermeneutical nature. However, according to Ricoeur, the deep hermeneutical comprehension is...

This allows distinguish these perspectives in their similarities on one hand and differences on the other. The thesis notably focuses on so called "Hegelian movement" and its evaluation of category of work. This movement, which is in fact the Czechoslovakian variation to the philosophy of praxis, formulates the category of work in its philosophical meaning, i. e. as an ontological category decisive for an origin of the reality and human being. It was originally Hegel, who developed this meaning of category, and Czechoslovakian Hegelian movement continued in developing his ontology adopted through Marx. The Czech philosophers enriched it with aspects of socialistic humanism. The thesis is divided into three parts. The first part explains historical conditions of philosophical scientific performance in Czechoslovakia. The second interprets the texts of Czechoslovakian Hegelian philosophers and their expositions of category...
