Programming of Micro:bit in block-oriented environment

This thesis is focusing on creating a textbook designed for secondary schools about programming a programmable board micro:bit in a block environment. The thesis is based on a similar textbook designed for high schools from a project PRIM. This original textbook is designed for technical high schools and deals with programming micro:bit in Python. The programmable board micro:bit, her functions, history and usability in schools are described in the theoretical part. Aside from that, various block environments and their usability in programming micro:bit are also described there. Programming micro:bit in a selected environment is then compared to programming it in Python. All exercises from the original textbook are analysed in the practical part of the thesis. Exercises are tested and it's decided if they can be recreated in the selected environment. For those exercises that can't be recreated, new exercises are created instead of them. The textbook itself is divided into several chapters. Each chapter describes one function of micro:bit, for example how buttons, sound or communication between two or more micro:bits work. Pupils will learn about those functions via elementary exercises. The textbook is free for download on the internet under the same license as the original textbook.
Adaptive Damping for Trucks

This diploma thesis is concerned with designing a computational model of a commercial vehicle. In addition to that, a control algorithm for adaptive damping is presented. These two parts are connected into a closed loop and together they create an adaptive damping system. The primary task of the algorithm is to react on a vehicle load change. Vehicle model has the opportunity to create different driving scenarios, which are used to verify algorithm functionality. With the help of computational model and optimalization process, suitable damping characteristics are derived. An evaluation of vehicle comfort and driving safety is also presented.
Algorithms and Programming Education with a focus on the programming language Python

The thesis researches the ability of use of Python programming language in the field of high school education and uses qualitative and quantitative methods of research and finds Python suitable. The thesis also brings theoretical analysis of the Python language, including practical exams in the form of sample programs. It researchs even other programming languages used in education and their suitability for this purpose and compares them with Python programming language. It also finds two most common used programming languages at high schools, which are Pascal / Object Pascal and Java.

ABSTRACT: This thesis deals with perceptions of pupils about how computers and computer programs work. The main objective is to inquire of pupils (ISCED-2) about how computer and computer programs work, and what ideas influence them. The theoretical part focuses on the history of the use of computers in teaching and an analysis of current approaches to teaching computer science and programming in the Czech Republic and in selected European countries. The practical part is devoted to mapping concepts of pupils aged 11-14 years involved in a teaching experiment organized at two schools in Prague, the aim of which was to examine the impact of teaching programming in "Scratch" over one semester in relation to pupil's ideas about how a computer works and in terms of the development of pupil's computational thinking. Algorithmization of social networking sites and its perception by adolescents

The diploma thesis Algorithmization of social networks and its perception by adolescents deals with the issue of algorithms which lead to personalization of social networks. Their perception by children and adolescents is currently not sufficiently explored. In the theoretical part, I demonstrate how the current studies examine the perception of algorithms on a sample of the entire population, in the context of adolescents how they focus on social networks as a whole. Therefore, the ambition of this thesis is to research the intersection of these three spheres and its impact on adolescent's perception of algorithmisation of social networks. Through qualitative research using the method of semi-structured interviews, this thesis outlines trends that may prevail in this area. An analytical synthesis of knowledge also answers the questions of how adolescents are informed about the possibilities of influencing the selection and sorting of the content and whether they show interest in these possibilities. In the theoretical part, I introduce readers of this work to the issue of new media, how social media developed, including their convergence. This thesis focuses on the assessment of possibilities in using software application of statistical methods in the field of data driven enterprise management. This includes a practical demonstration in a form of an analysis of telemarketing and an analysis of the work of company call centre. The thesis also contains assessment of the results of said analysis and recommendations based on them, which are aimed to help the enterprise in related endeavors.
Algorithmization of social media and its effects on online media

The rise of social media has changed how growing numbers of internet users get their news. Unlike traditional media, there is no universal information for everyone on social networking sites. Instead, each user receives a personalized sample of posts picked for him by a filtering algorithm. The workings of those two types of information selection are the main topic of this paper. Based on the gatekeeping theory, I offer models of editorial and algorithmic news selection and their comparison. I also compare different values of human and algorithmic gatekeepers and introduce the concept of objectivity and its limits in both cases. In the second part of this thesis, I present qualitative research into the awareness of the Facebook algorithm. Using semi-structured interviews with seven Facebook users I explore a set of specific examples of how users view Facebook as an information source, how they understand its algorithmic nature, and how satisfied are they with it. The main aim of this theses is to investigate whether the users are aware if various limitations resulting from the news-filtering technology in general.

The thesis Algorithmization of social media and it's effects on online news consumption examines the transition of social networking sites from chonological display of posts to automatized system of relevance assignment. This assesment is realized through algorithmic filters, which uses predefined criteria and processes to assign relevance to individual posts. Main goal of this thisis is to define compare a theoretical model of mechanized selection with traditional editorial model, together with user understanding of Facebook algoritmization. The thesis combines a theoretical part, which presents the specifics of both models, with qualitative research with aims of the conceptualization of user's understanding of the algoritmized nature of Facebook. The theoretical section also integrates algoritmic filters with the current gatekeeping theory, compares news and algorithmic values and describes the basic biases, which may occur in the two models of information selection. The second part of the thesis explores the user understanding of Facebook algorithmization. The Development of Algorithmic Thinking among the Pupils of Lower Secondary Schools

The diploma thesis deals with the development of algorithmic thinking among the lower-secondary students as one of their digital competences. It is based on the principle of algorithmic thinking related to the concept of computational thinking and it searches for the ways how to develop it in pupils. The theoretical part is supported by Skinner's concept of programmed learning and with the help of gamification proposes the research based on the students' observation in one school year in which the competence is developed. The raised issue is solved by setting a complex set of teaching materials and learning activities (both in the digital environment and unplugged activities) and their partial transfer into the teaching to a virtual, algorithmic environment of the specially designed application called Prográmko. The goal of the thesis is the analysis of the possibilities of how to include the gamification and the programmed learning into the practice of the development of algorithmic thinking taught at the lower-secondary schools. The research also evaluates the applicability of the application Prográmko and the proposed set of materials provided with methodological guidelines in the practice.
Engagement of Ozobots in teaching algorithmization and computer science thinking

Presently, there is a significant tendency of using educational robotics in Computer Science classes. The main purpose of my thesis is a.n introduction of Ozobot as a. tool for education. Va.rious excercises and methodical materials are also included. \Ve are not dealing with a full collection of excercises rather with samples concerning individual problems connected with algorithm educat.ion. Overally, t.here is twelve examples. Six oť them are ťocnsed on programming Ozobot with use oť colorťul OzoCodes on paper. The remaining six examples are ťocused on programming Chobot using special code editor OzoDlockly. l'vientioned excercises are int.eded for upper grades of Element.ary school and :diddlc school respectivcly.
