Ludic architecture
Domiňáková, Michaela ; Sotelo, Verónica Gallego (referee) ; Kristek, Jan (advisor)
Thesis use principles of play to reconstruct school building realized in the second half of the 20th Century. More broadly it deals with current state and conditions for reconstruction of modernist school buildings in Slovakia. According to Huizinga, play as such is older than culture and was a factor that stimulated the creation of culture and assumed the formation of human society. Free play is an instinct, a fundamental right, inherent in children, and a developed mechanism for acquiring skills and promoting learning. In the early 20th century, in a context marked by the horrors of war and the experience of the wild industrialization of the 19th century, society began to focus on the rights and education of children. This change in approach to childhood and children in general has been transcribed into theoretical and practical forms of architecture, from the scale of urbanism to the scale of an element of public space or domestic space. The concept of play began to penetrate into forms of education. In connection with urban transformation and housing construction playground have been created, which function should be the one of an institutionalized space education, but also of security or control. The same principles of control were also included in the architecture of other institutions such as schools. Project understands reconstruction of the school building not only as its annex or aesthetization but rather as reconfiguration and reinterpretation of its former principles.
New Sports Hall in Studénka
Cihlář, Jan ; Hronský,, Michal (referee) ; Marek, Jiří (advisor)
The diploma thesis deals with the sphere of sport as an important aspect of life in Studénka, the town in the northeast of the Czech Republic. The history of the town is closely connected with the local production of wagons in Vagonka Studénka. This resulted in a large increase in the population of the town, whose interest was to build a number of sports facilities that are still in use. However, their current state no longer corresponds to the current needs of local residents and sports clubs. Therefore the town’s efforts are to gradually reconstruct the sports complex and add suitable architecture. The currently discussed topic is the construction of a new sports hall designated for the needs of both professional and non–professional public, which can stand being compared for its design and content within the Moravian–Silesian Region.

Never Build Heart of the State. Efforts to Build a New Parliament Building and Government District in Interwar Prague and Their Failure
Kober, Jan
The paper gives a short overview of the efforts to build the new building of the Parliament in Czechoslovakia between 1919 and 1928. In 1919, the Parliament moved to larger building of the Rudolfinum, the most important Prague concert and art exhibition hall. On the other hand, the pre-war endeavours to build a monumental university quarter at Letná plain were revised into the monumental parliament and government district after 1919. The paper follows two architectural competitions on Letná Plain (1920, 1928) as well as (selected) controversies between various actors (Parliament, State Regulatory Commission, Governmental offices, ambitious architects and professional organisations).
Metternich - Nobile - Metternich. Patronage as a relationship with a changing constant
Petrasová, Taťána
This paper examines the authorship of an artwork as the result of patronage in which the social capital of both participants - the artist and his patron - changes. Initially Metternich drew on the symbolic capital held by the Italian architect, who had studied in Rome. Later the balance of their relationship was reversed. The variable element in this patronage was the imbalance between how the patron and artist benefitted from their social capital - one in terms of representation, and the other in terms of success on the art market.

Architecture Information for LLVM Compiler Optimizations
Provincial Mental Health Hospital Prague-Bohnice. Architecture and History
Krušina, Jan ; Biegel, Richard (advisor) ; Macek, Petr (referee)
The bachelor thesis deals with the architecture and history of the large area of today's Psychiatric Hospital in Bohnice, which was built in several stages between 1905-1925, considering the personality of architect Václav Roštlapil (1856-1930), who as a prominent figure participated in some representative buildings. The introduction focuses on the outset of a new field of psychiatry in the environment of the General Hospital in the New Town in Prague and especially the origin of a new typology in architecture, which then gradually spread to wider areas of Bohemia. The thesis clarifies the circumstances of the establishment of the Mental Health Hospital in Bohnice and is based on the study of archival materials, literature and tries to analyze the sources of its appearance, looking for sources of inspiration to put the Bohnice into historical context. In this thesis the hospital in Bohnice is seen as an exceptionally well-preserved example of this typology not only in the scale of individual buildings, but especially in the scale of the entire urban arrangement with the unmistakable Genius Loci. Keywords Architecture, turn of 19th and 20th century, art noveau, historicism, mental health hospitals, Václav Roštlapil, Mental Health Hospital Bohnice
Media image of Notre Dame Cathedral fire in the Czech press
Stuchlík, Jan ; Osvaldová, Barbora (advisor) ; Zunová, Anna (referee)
This bachelor's thesis focuses on the media image of the fire of the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, which broke out on Monday, April 15, 2019 and lasted until the morning of the next day. The cause of the fire of the building, which celebrated 850 years since its creation and which was made famous by a novel by the French writer Victor Hugo, is still debated. The most probable cause is a short circuit in the circuit of the electrified bell located in the sanctuary tower, from which the fire spread to the rest of the roof. The final form of the future reconstructed cathedral is still not agreed, but French President Macron promised a final repair within 5 years. The aforementioned Paris fire brought with it a wave of media interest among the world and Czech media. This topic was relevant both to print and online media, as well as to television broadcasting and social networks. Most information about the fire of Notre Dame Cathedral resonated with social networks, while the smallest number of mentions was in television news. I came to my findings on the basis of a quantitative content analysis of selected media in my chosen period from April 15 to May 31, 2019, for which I used the Maximus application. I processed my findings into graphs, in which the data are clearer.
WINE HOUSE NIKOLSBURG MIKULOV
Šiprová, Lucie ; Vojtěšek, Jiří (referee) ; Dýr, Petr (advisor)
This thesis deals with designing a wine hotel for Nikolsburg winery in Mikulov. The goal was to design a hotel which incorporates storage and processing of wine, while complimenting the surrounding vineyard landscape. The site is situated between nature reserves Turold nad Růžový vrch. The main focus of the design was to allow for the best possible view of surrounding vineyards, Mikulov Chateau, Basilica in Svatý kopeček and Turold nature reserve. The work centers around 4-star hotel able to accommodate 30 people, which includes a restaurant, small wellness for hotel guests and suitable technical facilities. Additionaly, the building is equipped for clean wine production (fermentation, pressing, aging, bottling, labelling, storage and expedition) and features a degustation room. Basic concept of the hotel was derived from the slope of the terrain, viewing axes and geographic orientation. There is a number of terraces symbolizing moravian hills covered by vineyards, which offer guests unobscured view of the surrounding landscape (and investors vineyards). The whole operation of the hotel has to do with winemaking as is seen in the building design. Vertical features of the facade represent rows and vertical poles in vineyards.
