Image Compression Using Wavelets
Mokrejš, Jiří ; Kyselý, František (referee) ; Říha, Kamil (advisor)
This bachelor´s thesis describes issues of wavelet compression, which is today already in common use mainly at work with digital photographs or other pictures. Saving of space regarding sizes of files is the main reason of that. There are main image formats and types of compression suitable for editing pictures desribed in this thesis. In case of lossy image compression, distortion occurs and blocking artefacts can be created. It is unwanted effect that´s why it is neccesary to use suitable data stream, compression´s rate or coding type. So the focus is on discrete wavelet transform, which uses so-called wavelets and the Haar´s wavelet is the best known of all. Next chapter of this work explores colour spaces, in which can be a picture displayed. In case of coding and encoding it is model RGB and YCbCr. Not least there is mentioned term of picture decomposition. It is possible to demonstrate mentioned functions on created java aplication, which is part of this bachelor´s thesis.

Bareš, Jan ; Dvořák, Vojtěch (referee) ; Šťáva, Martin (advisor)
This work deals with theory of coding, analyses current groups of error correction codes and describes features and parametres of chosen representatives of these groups. By comparing these parametres along with given criteria it choses extended Hamming code as suitable code for securing read-only-memories (ROM). For this code it choses way of realization of synthetisable modules of coder and decoder and describes their design. The work describes design of synthetizable modules of coder and decoder in VHDL. Then it explains functionality of created application which is able to generate these synthetisable modules. For verification of generated modules it creates authentication environment. Part of this environment is also model of ROM allowing writing of any error value into the memory. In the end it automatically verifies generated modules of coder and decoder with various width of input information vector.

QR Reader for Android
Loskot, Radim ; Široký, Vít (referee) ; Maršík, Lukáš (advisor)
This bachelor thesis focuses on the topic of reading the QR codes with the aim of designing and description of the implementation of QR codes' reader application for Android mobile platform. In theoretical part it analyzes structure of the QR codes including the way of information encoding and states the possible reference approaches of decoding them. With regard to the target platform Android it proposes algorithms for the detection of QR codes in the real time image and for decoding of the captured image from a mobile phone camera. At the end it evaluates the reliability and efficiency of the implemented functionalities and considers possibilities of their further development.

To cap or not to cap? Eukaryotic translation initiation with a special interest in human opportunistic pathogen C. albicans
Feketová, Zuzana ; Pospíšek, Martin (advisor) ; Půta, František (referee) ; Vanáčová, Štěpánka (referee)
Candida albicans belongs to serious human opportunistic pathogens, causing severe health complications to immunocompromised patients. To my best knowledge, it is the only organism that survives with unmethylated cap structures found on the 5'ends of mRNA molecules. Using functional assay, I demonstrated that orf19.7626 codes for C. albicans translation initiation factor 4E (Ca4E). We couldn't prove our hypothesis, that Ca4E could be responsible for the unmethylated cap recognition in our model organism S. cerevisiae. Candida sp. possesses also another rather unusual feature - ambiguous CUG codon. In most of the cases, CUG is decoded as a serine, but sometimes also as a leucine. This gives rise to a so called "statistical proteome". One CUG codon is also part of the mRNA coding for Ca4E protein, therefore two versions of Ca4E-Ca4ELeu and Ca4ESer -might occur in C. albicans simultaneously. Both of them are able to rescue deletion of S. cerevisiae eIF4E gene, but they confer temperature sensitivity to the heterologous host. This phenotype is more pronounced with the Ca4ELeu version. We observed milder temperature sensitive phenotype after co-expression of Ca4E together with C. albicans eIF4G (Ca4G). Conformational coupling between eIF4E and eIF4G leads to enhanced affinity of eIF4E to the cap...

Barcode recognition system
Pribula, Wojciech ; Richter, Miloslav (referee) ; Petyovský, Petr (advisor)
This thesis describes barcodes which are used in postal services. Specifically, it is concerned with Intelligent Mail Barcode, the GS1-128 code, the C128 code of Ceska posta (Czech Postal Services) and the QR code. The thesis attempts to analyze methods of encoding information into barcodes and error detection algorithms used for error correction during the decoding processes. Most importantly, there is described Reed-Solomon error correction in the QR code. There are presented and evaluated different methods of code detecting which are suggested by authors of various academic articles. The thesis also describes the method of creating test sets of images and proposed appearances of the scanning scene. Additionally, there are described algorithms for detection and decoding barcodes GS1-128, C128 and IMB in the image which was created during the work on this thesis. Finally, there is the evaluation of the percentage success of algorithms.

Fishing alarm in LPD band
Dufek, Ivo ; Šebesta, Jiří (referee) ; Frýza, Tomáš (advisor)
The main objective of this project is analysis, design and construction of three channel wireless extension box for electronics bite alarms in LPD band. Wireless ex-tension box set consist of transmitter and receiver. Both of them are based on Aurel hybrid modules and Atmel AVR microcontrollers. Microcontroller in transmitter media-tes processing input data, their coding, securing and transmitting. At the receiver side microcontroler has to interpret data from hybrid module and start correct visual and acoustic signalization. Construction of this extension box set is described in two independent chapters. The solution contains brief introduction, description of each function block, some im-portant components, general schematics, design of PCB and description of the firm-ware. The last chapter is common for transmitter and receiver and describes recom-mended antennas.

A comparative semiotic analysis of Týden and Newsweek magazine front page photographs
Albrechtová, Eva ; Šoltys, Otakar (advisor) ; Lábová, Alena (referee)
Diploma thesis "A Comparative Semiotic Analysis of Týden and Newsweek magazine front page photographs" deals with a way of reflections of the modern myths that construct a recent media discursus on the front pages of Czech and foreign weekly magazines. The basic tools of media studies like a sign, code, myth, social construction of reality, representation and stereotype are applied in ten front page photographs of Týden and in the same number of photographs of Newsweek. Their substance is introduced in a theoretical part. The text using semiotic analysis describes the signs used in the first and the second stage of denotation, decodes their hidden meanings, explicates and compares identified dominant ideologies, which are comprehended as artificial constructs from the Barthes's approach point of view. It comes to a discovery that in spite of different time and economic spaces a supposed dissimilarity of mythologic traditions couldn't be proved. Exercitation of media contents in a global scale on the other hand acknowledges a proximity which has not been anticipated.
