Public participation in decision-making in the field of environmental protection
Švecová, Jana ; Hadrabová, Alena (advisor) ; Dvořák, Antonín (referee)
The first three sections are devoted to the theory work. It focuses mainly on the legislation that governs the public's right to environmental information and participation in decisions on matters relating to the environment. Important international document in this field is Aarhus Convention (i.e. Convention on Access to Information, Public Participation in Decision-Making and Access to Justice in Environmental Matters). The work also deals with the Czech legal standards that follow this convention. Other parts of the thesis have focused specifically on civic associations, particularly on how they occur, what their possibilities to participate in decision-making processes and what their rights and obligations. The work deals with the activity of selected civic associations in Prague. Focusing only on Prague is due to better availability. I mention here how many civic associations are registered in Prague, that are involved in decision-making and if so, what kind of environment have the greatest interest. Also, I try to show what results in administrative management achieve and how values its cooperation with authorities.
The effectiveness of voluntary instruments of environmental protection as an example of eco-labelling
Doubková, Monika ; Geuss, Erik (advisor) ; Hájek, Miroslav (referee)
The aim of the Thesis is to evaluate the effectiveness of voluntary instruments of environmental protection as an example of eco-labelling and to verify the hypothesis whether eco-labelling is an appropriate instrument to influence consumption and production of environmentally friendly products and services. Based on the characteristics of voluntary instruments of environmental protection this work defines the types of environmental labelling and evaluates under what conditions can be eco-labelling systems, both economically and environmentally, efficient. Focusing primarily on Type I environmental labelling on the basis of summaries of works already carried out, my Thesis studies and evaluates the importance and impact of this tool for consumers, businesses and the environment. The next part of the work is focused on the issue of environmentally preferable purchasing and green public procurement, mainly at the level of the Czech Republic. The practical part verifies the hypothesis about the effectiveness of eco-labelling for example, the National Programme for Labelling Environmentally friendly products and services of the Czech Republic and European Union eco-labelling system. The method of sample survey was conducted and analyzed to what extent these systems are successful at eco-labelling. The survey was conducted among consumers and users of eco-labelling - in the companies involved in the aforementioned eco-labelling systems. The survey was supplemented by the views of experts from the field and has been evaluated by their expert view on these voluntary instruments.

Cost analysis and accident response strategy in oil production in entrepreneurial sector in the context of environmental safety concept of the Republic of Kazakhstan
Rakhymzhan, Ardak ; Vojáček, Ondřej (advisor) ; Jílková, Jiřina (referee)
The role of economic theory in the preservation of nature in Kazakhstan is very current, because mining industry in this country is quite large and it is a considerable burden for the environment. This burden is obvious mostly in extraction and processing of crude oil. The main aim of this thesis is the analysis of state environmental policy with the focus on prevention of oil spills in the Caspian Sea in accordance with "State concept of ecological safety in Kazakhstan in 2004-2015" and also methods of oil spills removal as tools for environment protection including factual techniques and firm based costs linked to the removal of oil spills. Thesis will also include the comparison of effectiveness of existing models for oil spills removal used by companies in Kazakhstan. The first part of work is methodologically based on analysis of secondary sources: scientific articles and literature, ecology bulletins, official data of Ministry of environment in Kazakhstan, firm based data and "State concept of ecological safety".

The seniors view of the condition of the environment in the Czech republic
HORATLÍKOVÁ, Iva
The aim of this thesis is to clarify senior citizens´ attitude to the condition of the environment in the Czech Republic and their concern to share efforts for its improvement as well as to learn if they feel responsible and can get enough information in this field. The introductory, theoretical part mentions the term of {\clqq}old age`` and gives the analysis of the present-day and future demographic development of the number of seniors. In my thesis I deal not only with the term itself but also with its influence on healthy lifestyle of seniors. I summarize and assess findings I have obtained from seniors in terms of their own attitudes to the condition of the environment. The other, practical part of my thesis deals with the results I acquired by the method of semi-standardized interviews and questionnaires. The 14 seniors aged 65 {--} 74 years who took part in the research had been selected at random. The results of the described research are favourable: seniors appreciate activities that make them more informed and thus responsible for the environment in the Czech Republic. They welcome the opportunity to share their views on the issue by meeting other people and building up social contacts thereby. They would like to get engaged more and help to improve the condition of the environment.
Phytoremediation of air - plans and reality
Vaněk, Tomáš ; Maršík, Petr ; Soudek, Petr
Results obtained so far indicate that selected plants can be effectively used to remove contaminants from the air, both horizontally and especially near sources of contamination, such as roads. When choosing plants, it is necessary to pay attention to their sorption capacities, as well as their ability to survive in contaminated sites, which are also exposed to other stresses such as lack of moisture and salinity.
