Pátková, Eva ; Mojžíšová, Jarmila (advisor) ; Nováková, Daniela (referee)
The diploma thesis Integration of Foreigners in the Czech Republic deals with the social integration of immigrants into Czech society with respect to structural, cultural, interactive and identifying dimensions. These are the crucial factors influencing their stay in the Czech Rebublic. The empirical part concerns perception of Czech reality through the eyes of selected foreigners from different countries living in the Czech Republic. Their findings are collected by qualitative research. During the interview, they provided detailed information about their stay in the Czech Republic and thus revealed issues which they deal with in the host country. It came out that a significant aspect of integration is not only the similarity of cultures but also foreigners' subjective feeling of integration.

Zavřelová, Barbora ; Dvořáková, Markéta (advisor) ; Županič, Jan (referee)
The diploma thesis Celts and their influence on modern European cultures engages in Celtic nations, describes their history and presents remainders of Celtic culture in modern cultures. The thesis is focused on the influence of the Celts on the French region of Brittany and the Czech Republic. It mainly describes the heritage of the Celtic culture in the contemporary society in the form of Druidism, feasts, perception of nature and other traditions. It aims to create a complex image of the Celtic civilization. The second objective of the thesis is to confirm or refute the original connection of the modern Celtic cultural elements on a historical culture of the Celts. It achieves these aims on the basis of analysis, synthesis and subsequent comparison of obtained information about historical and contemporary Celts. The diploma thesis comes to the conclusion that all studied cultural elements have a real historical basis, but most of them, in their modern form, are created artificially. Nevertheless this fact does not detract from the importance of the cultural heritage of the Celts. KEYWORDS Celts, Brittany, the Czech Republic, megaliths, druids, feasts, traditions, cultural heritage of Celts

The Development of the intensity of alcohol-related mortality in regions of the Czech Republic in 1994-2009 Abstract The main aim of the thesis is to analyze the development of the intensity of alcohol-related mortality in regions of the Czech Republic in 1994-2009. Three categories of causes of death related to alcohol are selected according to the classification chosen. The author analyses the intensity of mortality from all causes alcohol-related mortality, from cause of death of alcoholic liver disease and from external causes of death related to alcohol. She concludes that the level of mortality from all causes alcohol-related mortality and external causes of death related to alcohol improves whereas the level of mortality from cause of death of alcohol liver disease worsens. From the results of the analysis it follows that the areas with the highest intensity of mortality related to alcohol are eastern Moravia and north-western Bohemia. Bank Efficiency, Risk, and Capital in the Visegrad Group Countries
Fraňo, Filip ; Teplý, Petr (advisor) ; Lešanovská, Jitka (referee)
The aim of the thesis is to estimate the cost efficiency of the banks from the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, and Slovakia during 2008-2013 using stochastic frontier analysis. In addition to this, mutual relationships between the changes in banks' cost efficiency, risk- taking, and capital position are examined. First, the literature that is concerned with these relationships is reviewed and the stochastic frontier approach towards the efficiency estimation is outlined. In the empirical analysis, the cost efficiency of the banks from the aforementioned countries is estimated. The results suggest that the Czech and the Polish banks from the sample have the highest average cost efficiency while the Hungarian banks rank the lowest. The estimated efficiency is decreasing during the sample period. No conclusive results are found to support the hypothesis that the larger banks exhibit higher cost efficiency. Subsequently, the system of simultaneous equations is applied to test the mutual relationships between the changes in the banks' cost efficiency, risk-taking, and capital position. The results suggest a negative relationship between the changes in risk-taking and cost efficiency and between the changes in capital position and risk-taking of the banks. Moreover, the results do not indicate simultaneous...
The Effect of University Education on Employment in the Visegrad Group
Karolík, Richard ; Cahlík, Tomáš (advisor) ; Troch, Tomáš (referee)
This thesis investigates the effect of university education on employability in the Visegrad group countries. Education as a part of human capital plays a relevant role in the labour economics. Data from the sixth round of the European Social Survey are applied to this research. The study is divided into three parts. The first part examines the impact of achieving a university degree on employability in the whole Visegrad region. The second part focuses on comparing the effect of completing university education across individual countries of the Visegrad region. The last third part studies the additional value of completing different levels of tertiary education. Results suggest that the correlation between the level of education and the probability of being employed is positive. Those who has completed university education have eighty-seven percent higher chance to be employed, in comparison with those who has completed only secondary education. The most significant difference in employability was detected in Poland and least significant in the Czech Republic. The impact of the additional level of tertiary education on the employability is higher but appears to be diminishing with higher degree.
