Rychtaříková, Tereza ; Limburský, Petr (advisor) ; Šebela, Lubomír (referee)
This diploma thesis focuses on studies of chipped stone industry of the Early Bronze Age in Bohemia and deals with questions connected to its occurrence in settlement and burial sites. The first part of this study presents the results of artefact analysis. The anylised complex of artefacts consists of 108 items and originates in following localities: Kolín - ringroad, Pátek near Poděbrady, Polepy near Kolín, Velké Přílepy a Vliněves. The analysis included the typological and morphological characteristics, used material and the links to their position in settlement objects and other finds. The second part of this diploma thesis summarizes present knowledge of prestigious artefacts such as silicite daggers, axes and arrowheads. Furthermore, it investigates the matter of contacts between Central Bohemia and Moravia on the basis of Moravian stone materials distribution. A catalogue of chipped stone industy from Central Bohemia is also included in this diploma thesis.
Evolution of karyotype and sex determination in iguanas (Squamata: Pleurodonta)
Altmanová, Marie ; Kratochvíl, Lukáš (advisor) ; Zrzavá, Magda (referee)
Squamate reptiles in general possess an unusual variability in karyotype and sex determining mechanisms. However, in these two aspects, iguanas (Pleurodonts) are considered as a relatively conservative group of lizards. So far only genotypic sex determination with male heterogamety has been detected in this lineage. However, the sex chromosomes have not been revealed in many species by classical cytogenetics, probably due to their homomorphy. Significant variability in karyotype was observed only in the species-rich genera Anolis, Sceloporus and Liolaemus. The aim of this thesis was to investigate the genome of available species from the main iguanid lineages using classical and molecular cytogenetic methods. As well as finding the karyotype characteristics, which may represent synapomorphies of main iguanid lineages, the other aim was to try to identify sex chromosomes. This study confirmed previously published karyotypes of 13 species and established new descriptions of karyotype for eight species. The chromosomes of all studied specimens were examined by methods of classical and molecular cytogenetics, 21 species covering eight iguanid families were analysed in this thesis. The majority of studied species shared the apparently ancestral karyotype of the group, with diploid chromosome number...
Environmental characteristics of mineral waste from metallurgy
Vítková, Martina ; Ettler, Vojtěch (advisor) ; Bollinger, Jean-Claude (referee) ; Dijkstra, Joris J (referee)
Mineralogical and geochemical characteristics of metallurgical wastes from the Cu-Co smelters situated in the Zambian Copperbelt have been investigated. A number of instrumental analytical methods (XRD, SEM/EDS, EPMA, TEM/EDS) has been used to identify primary and secondary phases in smelter slags and dusts. A set of leaching experiments (CEN/TS 14997 pH-static test, EN 12457 batch test) in combination with geochemical modelling has been performed, with the emphasis on the leaching behaviour of potential contaminants and their release as a function of the pH. The effect of sample preparation on metal leachability from slag was also evaluated, considering the grain size reduction required by the standardised leaching protocols. Environmental and health risk assessments of the dust samples have been performed. It was shown that the main carriers of metals in the studied slags were Cu sulphides (bornite, digenite, chalcocite), Co sulphides (cobaltpentlandite), Co-bearing intermetallic phases and alloys. Copper and cobalt were detected in major silicates and spinels, substituting for Fe or Mg in their structures, and in glass. The presence of secondary metal-bearing phases observed on the slag surfaces indicated the reactivity of the slags on contact with water/atmosphere. It was reported that in...
Czechoslovak (Czech) Radio Broadcasting and Cultural Innovation
Trubačová, Lenka ; Hubáček, Ondřej (referee) ; Šisler, Vít (referee)
This thesis Czechoslovak (Czech) Radio Broadcasting and Cultural Innovation is designed as a cultural study of radio boradcasting development in years 1923 - 1999. Radio broadcasting development is interpreted as a process of cultural change. The aim of this thesis is to capture spreading innovation of the radio and describe the stages of this cultural change. The thesis is divided into two parts, a theoretical part and an empirical part. The theoretical part defines basic problems, deals with the theory of culture and media, the characteristics of radio communication. Particular attention is paid to description of the conditions affecting formation and development of the radio. The main focus of this work is to describe the radio development in Czechoslovakia and the Czech Republic. The second part is devoted to analysis of empirical data and sources, predominantly to secondary and historical analysis of accessible data regarding the radio. The major emphasis is placed on culturological interpretation of results of the analysis. This part also summarizes the importance of cultural innovation in terms of development of the Czechoslovak and Czech radio broadcasting. The concluding chapter deals with changes of this radio broadcasting.
Phylogeography and ecology of the Cimex species (Heteroptera: Cimicidae) in Europe; the evolution of taxa and specialization of hosts
Balvín, Ondřej ; Vilímová, Jitka (advisor) ; Hypša, Václav (referee) ; Votýpka, Jan (referee)
The life strategies of parasites and evolutionary mechanisms forming their diversity are particularly various and become frequent objects of study. The Ph.D. thesis deals with one of the obligate ectoparasitic haematophagous groups of insects, the species of the genus Cimex (Heteroptera: Cimicidae). Unlike in most other ectoparasites, the strategy of cimicids consists of remaining hidden in the shelter of their host. They use the host body only to feed and disperse. The advantage of the lower competition with other ectoparasites is counterbalanced by the need for particularly stable blood source, for which the cimicids choose social hosts living in colonies. The most frequent and the original hosts of cimicids are bats. The host range of particular species of Cimicidae is often rather broad. The morphological analysis of the Cimex pipistrelli species group showed, however, differentiation according to host bat species. This suggests a need for adaptation to particular host species within the usual range. The differentiation was not found reflected in the mitochondrial DNA. It is thus possible that cimicids can exhibit phenotype plasticity. The host associated morphological variability likely caused as many as three species of C. pipistrelli group to be described from Europe, from which two were...

PERSONAL DATA PROTECTION IN LABOUR LAW RELATIONSHIP JUDr. Jakub Morávek The thesis is concerned with personnel data protection in connection with labour-law relationships. Personnel data protection issue is approached completely here and explanation of it is organically interconnected with cases of its use in labour-law relationships. Factually the thesis is output of grant-aided project GAUK No. 121009 "Personnel data protection in labour-law relationships" researcher of which the author was in the years 2009 - 2012. By no chance the name of above mentioned grant-aided project is identical with the name of the thesis. From the very beginning of the research of the project a monograph dealing with personnel data protection in the context of labour-law relationships, or more precisely thesis dealing with this topic that would be published, was planned as its output. Within four years of intense engagement in personnel data protection in labour-law relationships, in three of which the author worked on above mentioned project, almost thirty articles and papers in professional periodicals and collections, monograph anda rigorous thesis focused on personnel data protection in the process of employment relationship commencement, monograph focused on personnel data protection in the process of personnel...
The possibilities of utilization of alternative stationary phases in pharmaceutical analysis
Kalafut, Peter ; Klimeš, Jiří (advisor) ; Šatínský, Dalibor (referee) ; Chládek, Jaroslav (referee)
University Charles University in Prague Faculty Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové Department Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Drug Control Candidate Mgr. Peter Kalafut Supervisor Prof. RNDr. Jiří Klimeš, CSc. Title of Doctoral Thesis The possibilities of utilization of alternative stationary phases in pharmaceutical analysis. The significance of metal-based HPLC stationary phases, mainly the zirconia, has arisen, recently. Zirconia-based phases came in the awareness of professional community mainly thanks to the versatile stability in different mobile phases and high temperatures as well as to the ability to provide very different selectivity as compared to common silica concurents. The theoretical part of this doctoral thesis provides general overview of liquid chromatography and also describes the recent instrumentation. The main part is devoted to a bibliographic search dealing in detail with the properties of zirconia-based stationary phases and consequent applications in the analytical practice. The fundamental of this thesis is represented by the experimental part, which studies the chromatographic behaviour of some chosen types of zirconia-based stationary phases and their potential use in HPLC analysis emphasizing especially on the pharmaceutical-analytical practice. The...
Brachiopoda and polychaeta in Taphocenoses of the Bohemian Cretaceous Basis
Sklenář, Jan ; Košťák, Martin (advisor) ; Michalík, Jozef (referee) ; Vašíček, Zdeněk (referee)
The sesile suspension feeders of Brachiopoda and Polychaeta phyla are relatively well represented in the Bohemian Cretaceous Basin (BCB), and show significant diversity. All three subphyla of Brachiopoda (Linguliformea, Craniiformea and Rhynchonelliformea) are present in the fossil record of the sedimentary basin infill; from Polychaeta, there has hith- erto been evidence of only the Canalipalpata subclass members that created solid, usually carbonatic tubes. In both abundancy and diversity, the most richest associations of fossil brachiopods and polychaets occure in near-shore facies of the Cenomanian to the Lower Turonian, and hemipelagic facies of the Late Turonian age. Prior research, as shows the literature survey given by the author, has been focused mainly on representatives of both groups of near-shore facies origin. The aim of this thesis is to fill in the existing gaps in our understanding of these groups within the BCB. This objective is accomplished in the form of a series of studies (Sklenář & Simon 2009, Vodrážka & al. 2009, Sklenář & al., in press) elaborating the following topics in detail: (A) taxonomy, distribution, morphology, variabil- ity, evolutionary relationships and stratigraphic significance of cancellothyrid brachiopod Gyrosoria abundant in the Middle and particularly in...
Correlation between in vivo quantitative MR parameters in various tissues (MR spectroscopic imaging, MR diffusometry, MR relaxometry)
Wagnerová, Dita ; Hájek, Milan (advisor) ; Krššák, Martin (referee) ; Mechl, Marek (referee)
Coregistration of MR spectroscopic (SI), diffusion (DTI), relaxation images and their subsequent correlations based on pixel-by-pixel quantitative analysis have the potential to distinguish between pathological states and healthy tissue and therefore can help assessing brain pathology extent. Patients with brain tumours and temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE) were involved in the study to validate the use of this method in clinical practice. 30 patients with a new diagnosed brain lesion, 22 patients with a treated tumour (diagnosis assessed by histology or by radiological follow-up), 20 TLE patients and 59 healthy subjects were examined on a 3T system. The measurement protocol consisted of T2-weighted MR images, SI, DTI and T2 relaxometry. Correlations were analysed with the CORIMA programme with automatic identification of pixels in the normal tissue according to control data. Brain lesions: Specific correlation patterns between metabolites, MD and T2 relaxation times (T2) were found for a given lesion localisation and tumour type. The patterns depend on different tissue states involved in the examined area. Recurrent tumours exhibited the same patterns as untreated ones but with changed parameter values caused by therapy. Metabolic values did not correlate with MD and T2 in radiation necrosis. TLE: MR...
Fundamental Painting: Birth, Characteristics, Formal Roots and Significance
Rajlich, Claudia ; Lahoda, Vojtěch (advisor) ; Wittlich, Petr (referee) ; Valoch, Jiří (referee)
Title: Fundamental Painting Author: Claudia Rajlich Department: Institute of Art History Supervisor: Prof. PhDr. Vojtěch Lahoda, CSc. Abstract: This dissertation wishes to define fundamental painting - a term which was coined and a current which was defined by the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam in the form of a show of 18 artists of different nationalities in 1975. Like the show, it wishes to give a clear view of a specific new kind of painting of the 1970s, which is "a reflection on the foundations of painting."1 The core of Fundamental Painting is formed by the four painters of American Minimal Art and the show based on a text concerning their work (upon which innumerable texts have been written since). This dissertation focuses on the European part of this "common mentality" as the curators call it, which remains unresearched until today. Its scope is to define: What was it, where did it come from and was it at all? The research is limited to artists in the show (although we conclude that a few should be replaced by others), historical evidence concerning new painting in the 1970s, the critical analysis of texts, artists statements and, above all, the undeniable documentation in the form of the body of works themselves. The existence of Fundamental Painting is proven, its characteristics determined in...
