Historical literature in the first and second classes of grammar school

Main goal of this thesis is to test efectivity of teaching grammar school literature based on one book only. Secundary goal is to make teaching of historical literature for grammar's school first and second year students more attractive. This thesis is based on five worksheets, every one of them is designed for different literary aim. All of them are based on book "Můj Golem" wrote by Marek Toman. Lectures are governed by three-phase model of teaching which combines different methods for work with pupils. This thesis proofs that, use of one book in long-term tuition with different attitude, combined with appropriate goals and attractive methods, is one way to teach literature. Also this thestis helps making rather unpopular subject of historical literature more attractive to students.
Application of the Innovative Teaching Methods in Education at Primary School

My master's thesis with a title Possible Applications of Innovative Methods for Reading Literacy Development in Elementary School is aimed at the critical thinking methods. These methods lead pupils in elementary school to a development of reading literacy. The theoretical part of my work provides an overview of the curriculum reform and the following changes in learning. The terms teacher, innovation, pedagogical constructivism and reading literacy are explained. The key competences of primary education are described, because their development and fulfilment are important goals of education. Furthermore, the educational programme Reading & Writing for Critical Thinking and the three-phase model of learning with its phases learning, awareness and evocation with emphasis on methods supporting a reading literacy of pupils are narrated. The methods of critical thinking supporting reading literacy of pupils are examined in the practical part of my work. The action research with help of an observation method is used in order to evaluate the impact of the critical thinking methods on the development of key competences and level of reading literacy of pupils. Application of methods of critical thinking in the information education: Case study of the Czech University of Life Sciences

This thesis is focused on use of the critical thinking techniques into the courses of information education. The study describes links and relations among the critical thinking as one part of constructivist teaching and information, critical and reading literacy. A literature review of the thesis also includes description of programme for critical thinking development called "Reading and Writing for Critical Thinking". A finding and methodology section is divided into two parts. First one analyses questionnaire of the critical evaluation of information quality organized for students of Czech University of Life Sciences. Following part describes case study (method based on Yin, 2009) of application critical thinking techniques into the courses of information education in Czech University of Life Sciences. This part, due to chosen method, includes description of current state of information education in the university, its environment and influences. It also gives in detail description of "Course of information literacy for PhD students" which used critical thinking techniques from "Reading and Writing for Critical Thinking" programme. Genetically modified plants in relation to solving the issue of global climate changes

The theoretical part of the diploma thesis summarizes basic facts related to the global climate change and provides up-to-date knowledge on the issue of genetically modified plants more resistant to stress factors of environment, including specific examples of strategies regarding preparation of genetically modified plants resistant particularly to abiotic stress. Although genetically modified plants and global climate changes belong to very important and current issue which public and foremost young generation should be sufficiently aware of, contemporary biology books and high school framework educational program pay to the issue very little attention. Therefore, the goal of this thesis is not only to summarize the basic facts and current knowledge regarding this issue but mainly to handle the issue in didactic level in the form of activating learning tasks. There were 28 learning tasks created in the thesis that gradually in unconventional way familiarize students with the issue of genetically modified plants and with the impacts of climate changes. The topic of this work is literature teaching focused on students with learning disabilities at secondary school. The first part describes wide variety of learning disabilities and disorders. Also concerns creation of IEP-Individualized Education Program for students who receive special education and related services. The main objectives in literature teaching are demarcated as well as learning strategies' taxonomy. The subsequent part presents worksheets especially developed for 6th grade pupils with IEP but not only for them. This offers the easier way to reach the study aims and tries to motivate students to pursue further studies in the field of literature. Each worksheet is followed by further explanation as an inspiration for other literature teachers.
Causes of reading decline, their analysis and possible remedy

The diploma thesis examines the causes of the decline of reading, it deals with the analysis and possible remediation. The theoretical part introduces the concept of literacy, it monitors the current state of reading and it is based on the research findings. It analyzes the Framework educational programme closely related to literacy, it draws on relevant theoretical foundations, and presents reading strategies, methods and programmes that support the mentioned area. Family, school, teachers and significant motivation are identified as important factors of literacy development. Within the indicative empirical investigation the thesis focuses on the content analysis of School education programmes and teacher approach to literacy support. It refers to the development of reading in various areas of education for older pupils of primary school.

This thesis deals with the use of innovative teaching methods and instructional strategies to support and develop literacy at the first grade of primary school. The theoretical part describes the changes in education related to curricular reform, also the change the objectives and the content of education towards the formation and development of key competencies, to prepare students for real life. This paper introduces the concept of contemporary Czech language and literature, its inclusion in the National Curriculum for Basic Education. The theoretical part focuses on the concept of literacy, reading literacy defined criteria. It also discusses the methods of critical thinking, which contribute to the development of reading skills. It also describes the course "Promoting literacy", which the author of the thesis completed in 2011. Shaping of Students' Attitudes in Geographical Education - The Issue of Ips Typographus Outbreaks

Shaping of students' attitudes in geographical education - the issue of Ips typographus outbreaks Abstract The diploma thesis deals with shaping the students' attitudes by utilising various texts during the geography classes. This experiment is shown on particular problem of Spruce Bark Beetle in the National Park of Šumava. There are two main streams towards this issue of Spruce Bark Beetle-one of them promotes the idea of incorporating the human intervention, while reducing the disaster, the other follows the opposite attitude towards the outbreak of the Spruce Bark Beetle, and that is not to intervene at all and to leave the destructed vegetation to regenerate. The backbone of the thesis is represented by a survey that aims at finding attitudes towards the problem mentioned above. Moreover, the survey also questions the way the attitudes change depending on critical reading of distinctive texts. Two main questions are posed in this research. The results are graphically depicted and commented upon in the thesis. The research shows the extent to which it is possible to influence the students' opinion utilising quality study texts. This MA dissertation is a creative project aimed at creating a model magazine for children of primary school age which would cultivate the child reader in a manner as complex as possible. The content of this magazine is founded on a previous theoretical analysis of children's needs and takes into account their socio-cultural specifics, that is, living together with digital technologies. Subsequently, in this work, I have aimed at finding responses for such formulated requirements in the form of current educational trends and, using these in practice, I am submitting a proposal of a specific product which reflects these phenomena.
The critical thinking and its application in libraries

The thesis "Critical thinking and its application in libraries", aims to become familiar with the term "critical thinking". It informs about the program Reading and Writing for Critical Thinking and its Czech version. It represents some of the modern teaching methods, which are generated by its ideas and principles. It deals mainly with the description of activating methods, which are crucial for the program. The methods are divided into three groups according to whether they use more reading, writing and discussion. The practical part deals with the preparation of information education lessons in which methods are applied to developing critical thinking. The lessons are divided into three parts, according to a three-phase model of learning - evocation, awareness of the importance and reflection. Model lessons are adapted to the university library. As the lecture topics have been selected areas of critical thinking, information smog, invisible web, the credibility of information retrieval techniques and information security.
