Nutritional Status of Prague Homeless Population
Hrnčířová, Dana ; Anděl, Michal (advisor) ; Derflerová Brázdová, Zuzana (referee) ; Provazníková, Hana (referee) ; Tláskal, Petr (referee)
Socio-economic, health and hygienic characteristics place the homeless people at risk groups. The higher incidence of health problems may have a multi-faceted etiology, including: smoking, alcohol, drugs, poor hygiene, insufficient food intake, poor quality diets etc. The prevalence of chronic diseases and cardiovascular risk factors is generally significantly higher in the homeless population than in the general population. Nutritional status of the homeless is also often compromised; many studies have reported malnutrition and insufficient intake of micronutrients whose daily turnover is enhanced by heavy smoking and alcohol consumption. The objective of our studies was to (a) define in the Prague homeless population the prevalence of protein-energetic malnutrition and (b) describe some of the major cardiovascular risk factors and to make comparisons between this group and the general Czech population, (c) to assess levels of selected vitamins (A, E, C, B1, B2, B6) and trace elements (Zn, Se, Cu) in blood and (d) exposition to Pb and Cd and to compare the results with individuals representing the general Czech population, (e) to assess the nutrient intake of main nutrients and compare it with the daily recommendations.

Labour relations containing foreign elements Globalisation has become a decisive factor not only in the field of law but certainly in various other fields effecting people's lives in the third millennium. Hence, the author of this Master's degree thesis is convinced that the significance of labour relations containing foreign elements will grow in the future. The focus of this thesis is on two topics, firstly the determination of the law applicable on labour relations containing foreign elements, secondly the posting of employees. The role of cholesterol 7alpha-hydroxylase in regulation of cholesterolemia
Cejpková, Monika ; Kovář, Jan (advisor) ; Leníček, Martin (referee)
The aim of the theses is to characterize the mechanism that participate in the regulation of activity of cholesterol 7α-hydroxylase (CYP7A1) - the key enzyme of classical pathway of bile acids synthesis. The function and metabolism of cholesterol and bile acid is described at the beginning. Cholesterol is a substrate for CYP7A1 and bile acids are produced in the reaction catalyzed by the enzyme. The other parth of theses is dedicated to feedback inhibition of CYP7A1 by bile acids and describes particular regulatory pathways involved. The crucial factors for CYP7A1 expression are bile acids response elements (BARE) in the promoter of CYP7A1 gene. Central role is played by farnesoid X receptor activated by bile salts that induces expression of protein called small heterodimer partner (SHP) in the liver. SHP interacts with trancription factors in BARE and inhibits CYP7A1 transcription. In the instestine FXR induces fibroblast growth factor 19 (FGF19) that activates signalling pathways leading to inhibition of CYP7A1 in the liver. The activity of CYP7A1 can be regulated independently of FXR - there is a role for hormones (insulin, glucagon), glucose, activation of proinflammatory cytokines and other nuclear receptors (pregnane X receptor and vitamin D receptor), that participate in protection of the...

Investing in the Financial Market
Strnad, Jaromír ; Pfeiferová, Daniela (advisor) ; Václav, Václav (referee)
The theoretical part focuses on creating a basic comprehensive overview related to the functioning of financial markets. This is then supplemented with essential facts that are focused on investing in mutual funds, investment risk, volatility and other important factors that form the information basis for every investor. In the practical part, they are composed on the basis of the investment portfolio used by a virtual portfolio approach to investing. These portfolios are based on real data and the amount of one million crowns is placed in a model investment in both portfolios. Individual mutual funds are analyzed both individually and in relation to the portfolio they belong to. To create relevant and quantifiable conclusions, elements of technical analysis indicators in the form of beta coefficient of determination and CAPM (Capital Asset Pricing Model) are used. The final part consists of a unique model that compares and consequently clearly demonstrates the difference in the effectiveness of the implementation of regular investments compared to a single one within the both created investment portfolios.
