The relation between n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids and cellular sensors of energetic state AMPK and SIRT1
Zouhar, Petr ; Kalous, Martin (referee)
Relation between n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids and cellular sensors of energetic state Petr Zouhar Abstract The regulatory proteins, which are able to react to energetic state of the cell by feed-back mechanism, are important factors in regulation of metabolic processes. Big attention is focused on the AMP activated kinase (AMPK) and the NAD+ activated deacetylase SIRT1. These enzymes interact together and their stimulation increases mitochondrial biogenesis and fatty acid oxidation. Due to this fact they function beneficially against the onset of obesity, insulin resistance and ageing. Fasting, exercise and some antidiabetogenic drugs act through these regulators. n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) are also believed to be beneficial because of their stimulative effects on mitochondrial biogenesis and β-oxidation. Our previous work has showed that intake of higher doses of n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) in diet leads to increase of AMPK activity in white adipose tissue. New results presented in this thesis show that SIRT1 is essential for increase of β-oxidation stimulators (PPARα etc) expression in response to n-3 PUFA in diet. n-3 PUFA also improve the metabolic profile synergistically in combination with calorie restriction. It occurs probably through the activation of SIRT1/AMPK/PGC-1α...

Self-harm in children
Tvrdoňová, Anna ; Procházková, Jana (advisor) ; Sotáková, Hana (referee)
Title: Self-harm in children Abstract This thesis deals with the topic of self-injury of adolescents. Its goal is to analyze the adolescents' view of self-injury, how the youth themselves define self-injury and what they perceive to be self-injurious behavior. The work is divided into two core parts. The first section focuses on the definition of the self-injury and reviews both current Czech and international literature. Particular attention is devoted to the inconsistent terminology, definitions and presentation of the recent classification system of self- injury. The second part is devoted to the research of explorative character. The data have been collected through a survey using anonymous self report questionnaire from 73 pupils between the ages of 13-15 and they were analysed using categorization and the method of factor and cluster analysis. Factor analysis extracted ten factors which served as the meaningful units and can be interpreted as adolescents' viewpoints of self- injury. Findings suggest the adolescents consider not only direct destruction of one's own body as example self-injury but also behavior that indirectly leads to negative health outcomes (eating disorders, smoking, abuse of alcohol). Interestingly, the youth reported ambivalent viewpoint of self-injury. They reported not only the...

Optimal Investment Portfolio with Respect to the Term Structure of the Risk-Return Tradeoff
Urban, Matěj ; Rippel, Milan (advisor) ; Červinka, Michal (referee)
My thesis will focus on optimal investment decisions, especially those that are planned for longer investment horizon. I will review the literature, showing that changes in investment opportunities can alter the risk-return tradeoff over time and that asset return predictability has an important effect on the variance and correlation structure of returns on bonds, stocks and T bills across investment horizons. The main attention will be given to pension funds, which are institutional investors with relatively long investment horizon. I will find the term structure of risk-return tradeoff in the empirical part of this paper. Later on I will add some variables into the model and investigate whether it can improve the results. Finally the optimal investment strategies will be constructed for various levels of risk tolerance and the results will be compared with strategies of Czech pension funds. I am going to use data from Thomson Reuters Datastream, Wharton Research Data Services and additionally from some other sources.

Here is an intention to draw attention to the actuell manifestations with an ideological overton, especially on our football stadiums. Not only in the continuity with the anarchist-autonomous movement there are mentioned any of the sub-cultural movements (PUNK, DIY, Free Techno Music ) too. Powered...
