The purpose of my dissertation is to analyze and further elaborate upon its main topic: the questions that are of a mutual deep interest to both medicine and philosophy. The dissertation has three parts. In the first part, I will introduce some of the key terms that will be used throughout the text. The second part, central to my work, is concerned with three possibilities that are offered to us - play and playing, dream and dreaming, poetic being - all become the places where comprehending, listening (to both the speech and the silence) and responding materialize. Playing, dreaming, poetic being - each offers our daily reality the beauty of transcending its borders without destroying them; in fact, they become a free spirited, passionate interest that enhances and makes valuable the ordinariness and finiteness of our daily lives. Freedom and Responsibility; I and the Other Person; Illness and Hope - each having its physical aspect and each being considered through the dimensions of seriousness and unseriousness, reason and unreason - will be rethought through playing, dreaming and poetic being, providing new insights of an engaged, passionate practice of philosophy and medicine. The third part, concerned with application on the two areas - I, the Child, and the Parenthood; and the Therapist and...

Current options of treatment for parasitic kinetoplastids
Čadková, Aneta ; Mach, Jan (advisor) ; Richterová, Lenka (referee)
Chagas disease, sleeping sickness and leishmaniasis are diseases occurring mainly in developing areas of Africa, America and Asia. They are caused by parasitic kinetoplastids from the genus Trypanosoma and Leishmania. These protozoans undergo morphologic transformations during their development leading to changes of their properties. They are characterized by complex mechanisms that allow them to evade the host's immunity. At the same time, because of these mechanisms and selection pressures, they are able to subsequently develop resistance to used drugs. The diseases caused by protozoa are classified as "neglected tropical diseases". The research and development of drugs against them is heavily underfunded. Currently used drugs are expensive, have a number of side effects, and due to lack of usage regulation develop resistance. The work first generally presents human parasites of the class Kinetoplastida. It further describes the treatment of diseases caused by the characterized species and focuses on a summary of currently used drugs, their mechanism, resistance and potential new drugs in clinical phases. Key words: kinetoplastids, Trypanosoma, Leishmania, treatment, disease, mechanism of action, resistance, nitroreductase
Chov a zdravotní problematika osmáků degu
Schwalbová, Klára
The content of the theoretical part of the bachelor thesis is a literary overview of the zoological classification, breeding, nutrition and the most frequent health problems of degu deer. Special attention is paid to diabetes mellitus, which often occurs in ossicles due to their physiological predispositions. Since one of the basic methods of diabetes prevention is optimization of nutrition without the inclusion of high-fat and high-fat feeds, repeated weight and urinalysis of glucose is used in health monitoring. The practical part includes the results of long-term (and lifelong) live weight monitoring of several animals of their own, the results of long-term and repeated monitoring of urinary excretion of glucose, as well as the results of a simple feed experiment with the inclusion of rich fruit sugars in the feed of osmates. Growth curves of dew oscabs have been developed and regular weighing has been shown to significantly help in early diagnosis of pathological conditions and diseases (such as dental problems) that cause weight loss. From the glycosuria monitoring and feed experiment, it emerged that after the intake of energy-rich feed, it is quite common for certain animals to excrete pathological amounts of glucose, but this can be re-adjusted by the appropriate dietary regimen. The results thus demonstrate the utmost importance of knowledge and respect for the physiological traits of the Osama degu. Adherence to the principles of good nutrition and proper monitoring of the state of health are prerequisites for the successful breeding of these animals. Degu, health problems, disease, diabetes
