Solvency II

This thesis focuses on the new regulatory regime for the insurance sector called Solvency II. The aim of this thesis is to introduce and explain the structure of the new regime with its advantages and further to provide an overview of the most important problems linked with the draft of the new directive and the implementation itself. The thesis is divided into five parts. The first two parts shortly survey the current situation in the regulation of insurance markets together with the risks typical for the insurance industry. The third part explains the current rules for solvency calculation and the actual reasons for the introduction of the new regime. The fourth part generally describes the Solvency II directive proposal. Finally, the fifth part deals with the expected impact of the new solvency concept on the insurance market as well as the management of insurance companies.

Approaches to Tourism Sustainability in the Great Barrier Reef

Sustainable tourism development is nowadays one of the most discussed topics. The thesis is focusing on the sustainability of the unique site of Great Barrier Reef, which is at risk of an extinction. Because of its fragility it is fully dependant on stable climate, sustainable economic development rate and reasonable use of its resources. The closer attention of the thesis is paid to the analysis of tools implementing the principles of sustainability that are being used in the Great Barrier Reef by the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority. The detailed analysis of these tools brings out many benefits, as it is providing the particular instructions of how to act sustainably when managing tourism operations.

The Role of DPRK in the Field of Contemporary International Relations (on the Basis of the Aspect of Juche Ideology)

The thesis introduces the Juche ideology and examines its impact on the North Korean regime. The main objective is to evaluate the role of the DPRK in the system of international relations, with regard to the Juche ideology. Due to the fact that in the DPRK and the mutual relations with other countries, it is very difficult to find a direct link with the ideas of proclaimed ideology, the main characteristics for a given pair of countries is emphasised. Mutual relations with five countries, which are articipating in the six-party talks with DPRK(the disarmament process is discussed in a separate section of thesis) are commented on. The role of the European Union is mentioned, because in the future, the EU could happen for several reasons, an important partner for the DPRK.

EU subsidies aimed at human resources – case study

This bachelor thesis is oriented on the issue of obtaining financial grants from the European Union for the development of human resources, specifically for legal entities situated in the capital of Prague. EU Structural Funds are introduced in the first part of the thesis; these finance projects directed on the development of human resources. Another part brings up the Operational Program Prague -- Adaptability. Third part is dedicated to the practical topic of acquiring the grants, particularly to a project application, its production, evaluation and obtaining of financial resources. Cost benefit analysis is introduced in this part as an appropriate tool to select and evaluate the project.

Právní nástroje ochrany čistoty vod - 90 - Legal instruments of the protection of water quality - summary This work is concerned with Czech enviromental law and focuses on the protection of surface- and groudwater on the territory of the Czech Republic. It consists of six parts - introduction, four main chapters and conclusion. The introduction outlines the reasons for water protection and states basic objective of the work, which is to analyze legal regulation of protection of water and describe the system of legal instruments designed for protection of water quality. Chapter 1 delivers basic view on the current state of the quality of surface- and groundwater in the Czech Republic and outlines major sources of polution, distinguishing between point, non-point and emergency sources of pollutin. Chapter 2 describes legal regulation of water law in the international law, EC law and Czech law, with special focus on the Directive 2000/60/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 23 October 2000 establishing a framework for Community action in the field of water policy (Water Framework Direcive) Chapter 3 identifies individual goals set down by the EC and Czech legal regulations within the area of water protection, again, with a particular focus on Water Framework Directive, besides it analyzes goals...

Accessing and using electronic information resources at Faculty of Social Studies of Masaryk University

The purpose of this thesis is to analyze the current state of access and usage of electronic resources at the Faculty of Social Studies at the Masaryk University in Brno. The first part introduces the Central Library of the Faculty of Social Studies which enables access to electronic resources for students and academic staff of the faculty. The next part containts description of the gateway of Electronic resources of the Masaryk University, and outlines the electronic resources accessible for the Faculty of Social Studies which are divided into separate type groups. The next chapter deals with promotion of electronic resources, reasons of their rare usage and suggestion for the improvement on the librarie's side. The following part is dedicated to electronic resource's promotion not only in the Central Library of the Faculty of Social Studies but in other Masaryk University Libraries too. The key part of thesis contains a questionnaire investigating usage of electronic resources at the Faculty of Social Studies, interpretation of its results and their conclusions.

75 Industrial Designs The aim of the thesis is to analyze this very actual issue at present. The reason for my research is to find out the outcome of the transposition of DIRECTIVE 98/71/EC OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL of 13 October 1998 on the legal protection of designs and into the Czech legal regulation of designs and its impact. The thesis is composed of ten chapters, each of them dealing with different aspects of industrial designs. Chapter One is introductory and defines basic terminology used in the thesis, methods of interpretation and used in analyse and legal sources used. Chapter Two examines the notion of industrial design and legal sources concerning the legal regulation. The chapter consists of two parts. Part One focuses on the notion of industrial design and legal sources generally. Part Two focuses on international, European and Czech legal sources and history of the legal regulation. Chapter examines the subject of protection and focuses on conditions of protection, protection of complex products and on disclosure. Chapter Four concentrates on the scope of protection and the term of protection. Chapter Five examines right concerning industrial design. Tax, charges and other similar tools for the protection of the environment

78 Resumé Taxes, charges and other concepts utilized as instruments of environmental protection The purpose of my thesis is to analyse economic instruments of environment protection namely emission charges for air pollution. Author analyzes, in theoretical part, instruments of legal order which stimulates environmental behaviour. The dissertation thesis deals with both direct instruments towards stimulation of environmental behaviour and with liberal economic approach towards environment protection. The reason for my research is to describe and document concept of charges. The thesis is composed of five chapters, each of them dealing with different aspects of environmental protection. Chapter One defines existence of negative externalities which arise as the consequence of economic and other activities of people. Negative externalities are attributed with such characteristics as to be one of key causes for pollution. Furthemore there are described instruments which influence / stimulate the behaviour of regulated subject / polluter. Instruments are divided into categories of direct regulation, indirect regulation and instruments of liberal-economic approach based on clearly defined ownership rights. The main purpose of the thesis is to evaluate the connection of the human resources strategy and the strategies focusing on gaining competitive advantage. The strategic analysis of internal and external environment is conducted on a specific company with key focus on its personnal strategy.There is a description of the theoretical and methodological principles in the first part which relates to a particular strategy and to strategic analysis. There is direct application of the theoretical learnings into the practice in the second part.

The Magdeburg law in the towns of northwest Bohemia in pre-Hussite period

The beginnings and propagation of the Magdeburg Law in the Czech lands in the Middle Ages are in the centre of attention of historical sciences since the second half of the 19th century. The period of great interest in this theme ends in the middle of the last cen tury and there i s a change in the direction of conservation of older knowledge. A detailed look on notorious development trends in connection with use of different types of sources can open new possibilities for efforts concerning deeper cognition of one of the most important components of the so called medieval transformation. The Magdeburg Law is a phenomenon transgressing borders of contemporary as well as medieval states in Centra!- and Eastern Europe, which is the reason to study it in the context of wider regions. Presented study incorporates three themes. The first chapter is dedicated to the analysis of the initial situation that existed in the thirteenth century in one of the most important cities of northwest Bohemia Litoměřice, the later head of a great family of cities of German town law. The starting point for an attempt to explore the Litoměřice law in the 13th century is a not preserved compilation of various legal regulations sent directly from Magdeburg to Litoměřice in 1282.
