Environmental Impact Assessment Résumé: Environmental Impact Assessment, as a process for integrating environmental considerations into decision making, is one of the most important instruments of environmental protection. It was first applied in United States of America and then emerged internationally since 1970. Strategic Environmental Assessmet (SEA), which is the aim of my thesis, is developing very quickly for last twenty years. Now is established in international documents and also domestic legislation - especially cause of the Czech Republic accession to the European Union. Strategic environmental assessment presents a process, which should provide information on the environmental consequences of proposed plans, programs and policies, and also ensure participation of potentially affected subjects, including public. In my thesis I describe respective international regulation, European directives and Czech legislation of strategic environmental assessment and analyze the level of quality and effectiveness of the SEA process and public participation in Czech regulation according to respective international and European regulation. The Russia policy of Germany 1917-1918
Šulc, Jakub ; Stellner, František (advisor) ; Tumis, Stanislav (referee)
German foreign policy and military activity on the Eastern Front between 1917 and 1918 was primarily determined by effort to make peace and to stabilize the situation there, which would allow the transfer of command of the German troops to the western line. There was necessary to determine the current impasse before landing of the first sections of the United States in the spring of 1918. Their presence would reverse the current ratio of balanced forces of both warring parties against the Germany. This policy has been influenced by several interconnected factors. Besides the already mentioned time limit on troop movements between fronts there was a important relationship with the new Government of St. Petersburg from November 1917. Despite the Germans initially envisaged cooperation in the negotiations on the basis of support for the Bolsheviks on their way to power, but then there was a fundamental contradiction and friction surfaces, which were partly caused by the differing views on the spread of revolution among the Bolsheviks themselves. Ambivalent relationship between Germany and Russia had not stopped the signing of Brest-Lithuanian Peace 3rd March 1918, but continued after, until the surrender of Berlin in the autumn of 1918. Both regimes is to achieve its goals could not miss each other when the...

Tachistoscopic experiments – the past and the future of tachistopical experiments
Vobořil, Dalibor ; Květon, Petr ; Jelínek, Martin
Tachistoscope has been one of the crucial instruments of the experimental psychology since its early times. This instrument is still in use in recent times, e.g. in the area of subliminal perception studies. The tachistoscopes have been evolving since the first experiments; nowadays, researchers do not use a single-purpose instrument to present the stimuli; they employ a personal computer with a monitor screen as a display unit. Two common technologies currently used at monitor screens - CRT and LCD - have different technical parameters (e.g. decay/refresh characteristics). The aim of our study is to explore whether the different parameters of the tachistoscopic instruments influence the resulting data, i.e. whether they cause an unsystematic measurement error. The results of the comparison of four types of tachistoscopic presentation will be presented in the paper. Two original mechanical tachistoscopes (Wundt-style tachistoscope, a tachistoscope with a photographic shutter) and two modern displays (CRT and LCD screens) are included in our experiment.

Nursing care of patients with implemented intracranial sensor
Bednaříková, Jana ; Hošťálková, Monika (advisor) ; Polívková, Jarmila (referee)
The goal of thesis "nursing care of patients with implemented intracranial sensor" was to analyze nursing care of patients on neurosurgical and critical care units in hospitals of the capital city of Prague. Main objectives were to understand whether there are nursing standards for "Nursing care for patients with established intracranial sensor", how nurses care for patients with increased intracranial pressure, if they have an experience with complications with patients with implemented ICP sensor and finally if they know the main complications that can potentially occur. The theoretical part describes the most common causes of brain damage and associated causes of intracranial hypertension, summarizes the types of sensors for monitoring intracranial pressure and ways of their implementation. It also deals with the specifics of nursing care associated with monitoring of intracranial hypertension. Quantitative research was chosen as methodology for this work. Data for the research was collected through anonymous questionnaire with nursing staff. The result was a finding that none of the cooperating departments have prepared a standard of nursing care for patients with an implemented ICP sensor, and that the majority of interviewed staff were not able to answer correctly if that standard in their...

Antiphospholipid syndrome and recurrent pregnancy losses
Hoftová, Kateřina ; Andělová, Kateřina (advisor)
Antiphospholipid syndrome (APS ) is an interesting nosological unit , in which diagnosis and therapy blends many medical disciplines , most of Internal Medicine , gynecology , neurology and immunology. This is due to the diversity of symptoms to which this Autoimmune disease occurs. The basis of these symptoms are thrombosis , arterial and venous, which can affect any organ or tissue in the body. APS is not common diseases and their diagnosis is problematic. Yet it is important for this syndrome think , because it is often influenced therapeutically . It was found that the APS can cause recurrent pregnancy loss in otherwise healthy women (primary APS) in women with other diseases (secondary APS). pregnancy losses include early abortions (up to 10 weeks of gestation ) , late abortions (over 10 weeks gestation ) premature births , all at morphologically and genetically normal embryos and fetuses. At the same time APS associated with a higher incidence of pregnancy complications such as preeclampsia , placental insufficiency, intrauterine growth retardation , etc. If the APS as a cause of miscarriages identified and treated according to current technical recommendations , the result is a substantial percentage successful pregnancy.

The causes and the process of the War of 1812
Ventluka, Petr ; Skřivan, Aleš (referee) ; Kovář, Martin (advisor)
The War of 1812 is sometimes called the second war for independence. The Americans fought for their rights; for the rights to neutral trade, which British government suspended because of the continental system of the French emperor Napoleon. United States were irritated by the British Orders in Council, which forbade Americans to trade with continental ports. Moreover they were angered by the practice of impressments. Royal Navy boarded and searched American ships for British seamen, who served on those ships because of better payment. The British navy was in a high need of men, so it took away from American vessels also American citizens without proper papers. Another cause of the War of 1812 was the British connection with N ative Americans. The War started with President Madison' s War message to the 12th Congress on June 1. Subsequently Congress declared war on Great Britain, and military forces invaded Canada - a British province. All American attempts for conquering British forts have failed during the first year of the war. Canada stayed strong just because of the fine leadership of Sir Isaac Brock and because of the help of Tecumseh's Indians. Americans gained just few naval victories. The next two years Canada witnessed other American invasions; some of them were successful, e.g. the capture of...

The political marketing campaign consisted of the manipulation of WMD intelligence, escalation of rhetoric about the danger that Iraq posed to the United States and speculations about Iraqi support of terroristic organisations. The second section of the thesis is dedicated to a comparative content analysis of prewar coverage at The New York Times and newspapers published by The Knight Ridder. The final part traces the changes in American journalism in recent years. It explains how the quality of prewar coverage was influenced by these changes such as rising economic pressure, frequently quoted anonymous sources, unbalanced coverage in favor of the administration position...
