Chytil, Petr ; Hradílek, Pavel (advisor) ; Kolář, Pavel (referee)
Liturgy of Farský from 1924 was a very modern and successful reform of liturgy in that historic period. Modified liturgy of Farský has been used in Czechoslovak Hussite Church up to now. Meanwhile liturgy underwent the essential development of liturgical studies and liturgical practices in western churches (2. Vatican council and the renewal movement in other churches). Liturgical renewal was inspired by old Christian patterns. Although Liturgy of Farský was revised several times, principal changes has not been done. Its revisions do not reach the quality of other renewal liturgies. The aim of this bachelor thesis is to compare the structure of contemporary Eucharistic liturgy of the Czechoslovak Hussite Church with old Christian patterns and also with an example of renewal Eucharistic liturgy in western churches. We focus on the structure of Eucharistic prayers and their context in liturgy. As the example of liturgical renewal of non-roman type is chosen contemporary anaphoras of the Anglican Church of Canada. Finally a model example of Eucharistic prayer with revised structure is proposed. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)

Integration of catch-phrases of Jara Cimrman's plays into the everyday communication This bachelor thesis deals with a usage of catch-phrases from the Jára Cimrman Theatre plays in the context of our everyday conversation. In the theoretical part it explains fundamental basic terms, discusses the communication in general, defines common conversation. Furthermore, the text discusses the comic and its forms and briefly introduces the Jára Cimrman Theatre and its unique poetics. In the end of this part are presented conclusions about knowledge of these catch-phrases among common Czech speakers. The research answers three questions: What was the trigger to use the catch-phrase? What was the speaker's intention? What kind of influence the catch-phrase had on the listeners and the situation as a whole? Research questions are answered based on the method of participant observation and the results have shown that the main triggers are similarity of the communicative situation, linked meanings of the situation in a play and in reality or specific use of words. Speaker's meaning is the most often to entertain the addressees or to downplay the situation. This usually corresponds with the real effect of the catch-phrase usage. However, very important role plays the knowledge of the plays of Jara Cimrman - the better...

Neither Old, Nor New: The Southern Belle Archetype in Lillian Hellman's Birdie Hubbard from The Little Foxes and Tennessee Williams's Blanche Dubois from A Streetcar Named Desire
Soukupová, Markéta ; Ulmanová, Hana (advisor) ; Veselá, Pavla (referee)
The aim of this BA thesis is to describe the origins of the Old South's archetypal feminine ideals and how they were altered in the course of time. In what follows, I will attempt to explain how the Southern Belle myth became (re-)defined, enacted and/or maintained throughout the era of the Antebellum, Post-Bellum and New South perspective. The thesis will employ literary theory, namely in respect to relevant archetypal definitions that will be applied to the specific Southern Belle figures, as well as historical, social and cultural studies. Finally, feminist and gender theories will be utilized in order to demonstrate how the cultural archetype of the Southern Belle served as a socially constructed norm enforcing women's passivity and submission to patriarchy. After the introductory chapter, which will present the American South and its inhabitants as a distinct cultural entity, chapter two will discuss the aims and methodology of the thesis and the basic terminology that is essential for the Southern Belle concept. Chapter three shall afterwards briefly introduce the specific constructs of the Post-Bellum (Lillian Hellman's The Little Foxes) and New South (Tennessee Williams's A Streetcar Named Desire) Belles in relation to their concrete socio-historical contexts. Chapter four will then consist...

Beranová, Monika ; Soukup, Jaromír (advisor) ; Jeřábek, Martin (referee)
This thesis analyzes key moments from the tenures of Harold Macmillan as British Prime Minister and John Fitzgerald Kennedy as President of the United States. The United Kingdom and the United States had a Special Relationship between them, which was based upon their close political cooperation. Macmillan and Kennedy deepend this relation by their personal friendship, which played a major role in the course of finding solutions to the conflicts they had to face in the context of the Cold War, when there was a real possibility of nuclear annihilation. The analysis shows that the Special Relationship in the years 1957-1963 went through several dynamic developments, however it never lost its unique status. Despite initial distrust between the two countries immediately following the Suez Crisis, both politicians always managed to find a compromise solution. Thanks to their friendship and deep personal respect, they managed to always unite, even during times of gravest peril. A typical example of the personal relationship is the Cuban Missile Crisis, when Kennedy kept in touch via telephone with Macmillan and often asked him for advice. By virtue of this contact, Macmillan became one of the President's principal advisors in the course of the crisis. The Special Relationship between the two countries did...

Causal relationship between Uncertainty and Crude Oil Prices: A Quantile Regression approach
Ruiz Vargas, Andrés Mauricio ; Baruník, Jozef (advisor) ; Krištoufek, Ladislav (referee)
This work considers the causal relationship between the news-based uncertainty measures and WTI crude oil price within the quantile causality framework by using daily data for a period from January 4, 2000, to November 14, 2016. We find that the Granger non-causality test in quantiles between crude oil returns and the news-based uncertainty measures uncover the causal relationship over different levels of conditional quantiles of the crude oil returns. In particular, there exists a strong causal relationship in the tails of the crude oil returns distribution. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)

Variability of the Brewer-Dobson Circulation
Kupčihová, Zuzana ; Pišoft, Petr (advisor) ; Kozubek, Michal (referee)
The middle atmosphere transport is mostly controlled by a large-scale meridional circulation, namely the Brewer-Dobson circulation. In this thesis, climatology and variability of the Brewer-Dobson circulation and the middle atmosphere has been analysed using the Canadian Middle Atmosphere Model (CMAM30-Ext). A number of key variables are used including the age of air, residual velocities, residual stream function, temperature and zonal wind. The analysis of the climatology of the age of air shows, in particular, that young air gets generated near the tropical tropopause, which then travels poleward. The residual stream function shows that the Brewer-Dobson circulation dominates the winter hemispheres around the solstices and becomes nearly symmetrical, with respect to the equator, around the equinoxes. The empirical orthogonal function analysis is applied to explore the modes of variability in the middle atmosphere. The analysis identifies, in particular, the semi-annual oscillation, the quasi-biennial oscillation with moderate explained variance compared to the variance explained by the annual cycle. In addition, the analysis also reveals the emergence of the solar cycle. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)

For a declension (inflection, declination) of Czech nouns is typical a richness of inflexional types and their endings. They either mark strongish a homonymy (e.g . type outhouse/'staveni), or a synonymic. Through their positional final variants (allomorphics) are generated a synonymic endings doublet forms (formative variants). A description of distribution these variant endings is in Czech morphological interesting and doctrinal task. Namely above all therefore, we learn to understand especially specification a literary language at school. Then we have to keep it as much as is possible, because we have a sense of responsibility to our literary language norm. Don't being wanted to break its, we are obliged think about it, which one of endings is literary, if need be are not literary already both of them. Since the Gebauer's date to contemporary The Hand Grammar Czech (Příruční mluvnice češtiny) enter to the games at classification these endings a philological interventions. They evaluated these endings and described its on the axes correct - wron or literary - non-literary. Off at the same time no-stays nor a look dialectological. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
