The Importance of Multi-word Expressions in English Language Teaching with Particular Emphasis on Collocations
Sládečková, Dana ; Fleková, Magdalena (referee) ; Perclová, Radmila (advisor)
This thesis has attempted to turn attention to the key importance of teaching multi-word expressions in English language teaching. The theoretical part discussed the status of vocabulary in ELT and defined the relevant linguistic terms, i.e. collocations, phrasal verbs, free phrases and fixed phrases (idioms, lexical phrases). Collocations w^ere given a special part to play in this thesis and hence they were dealt with in depth. This linguistic area was divided into three main categories to help both teachers and students. First, several collocation patterns were established. Second, three possible strengths of collocations were identified and finally the difference between category and word collocations was explained. Moreover, all the categories were provided with illustrative examples. Furthermore, it has been explained that the knowledge of multi-word expressions and particularly collocations is necessary for successful development of students' competence in a foreign language. On one hand, extensive knowledge improves their fluency and accuracy in language production. On the other hand, insufficient knowledge of multi-word expressions might face students with serious difficulties not only in language production, but also in language comprehension. Distribution and Meaning of the -ák Suffix in Czech Corpora
Goroshko, Vladimir ; Adamovičová, Ana (advisor) ; Starý Kořánová, Ilona (referee)
The bachelor thesis deals with theoretical exploration of characteristics pertaining to the Czech suffix -ák and determination of statistical correlations relating to its distribution in Czech language corpora. The problem is approached through a general description of word formation in the Czech language and theoretical attribution of the -ák suffix to semantical and morphological categories and derivation paradigms. Particulars of the -ák suffix, such as homonymy, productivity and expressivity, are being described. Practical research is aimed at comparison of data obtained from the SYN2010 written language corpus and the ORAL2013 spoken language corpus and assessment of their appropriateness for investigation of the modern language. The research has confirmed that corpus data to a large extent conform with theoretical distribution of the suffix, with a few minor exceptions described in the text, and that such distribution shows certain differences between the written and the spoken corpora. Particular attention to univerbisation is paid both in the theoretical and the practical parts. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)

Fantasy and Science-fiction in Novels for Children using German Texts, Working with a Literary Text with Children for Teaching
Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)

Methods of exchange rate analysis and an application of the equilibrium exchange rate model on selected currencies
Attendorn, Filip ; Potužák, Pavel (advisor) ; Čermáková, Klára (referee)
The thesis deals with the fundamental analysis of exchange rates of CZK/EUR, GBP/EUR and PLN/EUR. First, the validity of uncovered interest rate parity is tested in the empirical part using the method of least squares. The same econometric method is applied for testing of the validity of the relative version of purchasing power parity. The tested theories are rejected based on the outcome of the empirical models. Another part of the study is estimating the equilibrium exchange rate using the vector autoregression model. The data of inflation, real exchange rate, and interest rate of treasury bills are utilized. The model is statistically significant in case of the Czech Republic and Poland. The real exchange rates of these countries have similar deviations from the equilibrium level in the period before the financial crisis and in at the beginning of the crisis. However, for the UK the model is not statistically significant.

Force interaction of an airfoil in fluid flow
Uruba, Václav
The physical mechanism of lift and drag forces exerted on an airfoil is studied using results from mathematical modelling. Special attention is paid to lift force origin. The mechanism based on 3D flow-structure as a result of 2D flow-field instability is described.
