In this investigation I dealt with women's attitudes towards entrepreneurship and business environment and focused on the issue of whether women are less successful entrepreneurs.

Wachtler, Kamilla Dóra ; Cook, Gina (advisor) ; Lhotáková, Markéta (referee)
The appearance of the Internet and new, rapidly changing emerging online technologies have led to some fundamental changes in marketing -- especially direct marketing. Besides the growing popularity of the Internet, the appearance of databases and one-to-one marketing are challenging traditional marketing methods. This thesis attempts to illustrate how direct marketing techniques can be implemented in an IT company. It starts with an overview of the concepts of direct marketing and its techniques and then provides a brief synopsis of its past as well as possible future trends. The differences between B2B and B2C marketing communications are discussed as is the role of direct marketing in the information technology (IT industry). The last section presents a case study -- concluded with the cooperation of SEAL Communication and Oracle -- which demonstrates how an IT company can effectively use direct marketing in order to achieve its goals and build long-lasting and fruitful customer relationships. For the successful execution of the direct marketing campaign, both Internet based tools and traditional methods were applied, in order to show that both of these technologies can be used together when targeting different groups with different needs.

Identification, expression, and characterization of Phlebotomus orientalis salivary antigens
Šíma, Michal
Sand flies (Diptera: Psychodidae) are vectors of Leishmania spp. (Kinetoplastida: Trypanosomatidae), medically and veterinary important parasites causing leishmaniasis. These protozoans are inoculated into the host during blood-feeding together with the vector saliva. Salivary components are crucial for sand fly female blood-sucking but also play a major role in the initial stage of parasite development. It was demonstrated that this rich mixture of proteins performs different functions after its injection into the host like hydrolyzing ATP and ADP, binding biogenic amines, and others which inhibits the haemostatic reaction and modulate the immune system thus enables the successful feeding. So far, cDNA salivary transcriptomes have been constructed for twelve sand fly species and we added another one - Phlebotomus orientalis, the main vector of Leishmania donovani, a causative agent of human visceral leishmaniasis in East African countries. We described members of thirteen protein families which corresponded with previously published salivary cDNA libraries of other sand fly species and showed the main salivary antigens using sera of experimentally bitten mice and naturally exposed dogs. Specific IgG antibody response is induced against sand fly salivary proteins in repeatedly bitten hosts....

Relation of fruitfulness in reduction therapy of child obesity at samplet genetics polymophisms
Janoudová, Veronika ; Sedlak, Petr (advisor) ; Daňková, Pavlína (referee)
The aim of the thesis is to analyze the relationship of polymorphisms Ala54Thr FABP2 (protein binding long chain fatty acids in the enterocytes of the small intestine), Gln27Glu B2AR (lipolytic receptor in white adipose tissue) and A-3826G UCP1 (uncoupling protein in the inner membrane of mitochondria in brown adipose tissue) to pursued antropometric and biochemical markers and judge their impact on the success of reducing therapy on children. Association of observed polymorphisms with obesity has already been proven in other studies, the results are inconsistent and most studies have dealt with adults. The study includes of 335 individuals (216 girls and 119 boys) who completed a reduction stay in the Children's hospital of Dr. Filip in Poděbrady. The subjects were studied for anthropometric and biochemical markers at the beginning and at the end of reduction stay. Genetic analysis of polymorphisms were performed with use of PCR-RFLP. Girls Thr/Thr in polymorphism Ala54Thr FABP2 were showing greater thickness of skin fold on abdomen (p=0,009) and higher fat percentage in body composition (p=0,023). Significantly greater reductionof both these markers have been demonstrated (p=0.008, p=0.040). For boys the relationship was observed of homozygote Ala/Ala in a lower weight reduction (p=0,040). Non-Catholics in the Domain of Trebic in the 17th and the 18th Centuries
Honč, Petr ; Čechura, Jaroslav (advisor)
This research is primarily focused on the non-Catholic population in the domain of Trebic in the 17th and 18th centuries. A brief summary of the previous religious development in the above mentioned domain during the Reformation period and Thirty Years' War enables us to prove, that falling apart of the confessional identity had already been registered before the beginning of systematic recatholisation. Until then, the domain of Trebic had been a favourite refuge for the refugees from Bohemia. The description of the process of recatholisation in the town of Třebíč and villages of its domain is one of the key topics of this research. Another focus of this work is to demonstrate the contribution of the parish network in the frame of the Třebic's deanship, which was a key success factor for the recatholisation process. A second main topic, and a core issue of this work, is the situation in the domain after the October 1781, when Joseph II. put into effect the Edict of Tolerance. The emphasis is put on the adhesion of non-Catholics to one of the Protestant confessions tolerated by the State and on the challenges emerged as a follow-up. A rupture between Protestants regarding the choice between the Augsburg and Helvetic Confession almost ended hopes for their own congregation.

Spontaneous succession of vegetation of abandoned quarries in the Bohemian Karst: Occurrence of species in quarries and their surroundings
KAREŠOVÁ, Petra
Variation of vegetation during spontanneous succession was researched in ten limestone quarries in the Bohemian Karst in central part of the Czech Republic. Five abandoned quarries surrounded by woodland and five quarries with grassland prevailing in the surroundings were chosen. The age of quarries varied from 33 to 97 years. The complete list of plant species was recorded for each quarry and near surroundings (up to 100m).Resulting analyses demonstrated the close relationship between the occurrence of species in the quarries and their surroundings. The quarries may act as refugia for rare and retreating specie
