Echoes of Ovid's Metamorphoses

The aim of this study is to compare selected episodes of Ovid's Metamorphoses with three works of modern literature containing the theme of metamorphosis, and to follow their intertextual relations, dependency and innovation of Ovidian themes. On the basis of a comparison of the ancient and the modern text it is examined which motives remain constant during centuries and which, on the contrary, are evolving and shifting their meanings. Through the perspective of the Metamorphoses an attempt is made to interpret the works from a less usual angle. The most significant Ovidian characters that are examined in this study are Teiresias, Daphne, Hyacinth, Orpheus, Ceres, Icarus, Callisto and Io.

Changes of regional and settlement pattern of Serbia after 1991 in the context of the split of Yugoslavia Abstract This thesis presents changes of regional and settlement pattern of Serbia with a special emphasis on migration after war events evoked by splitting of former Yugoslavia in the 90's. It researches age structure of refugees and internally displaced persons and mainly their influence on demographic growth of Serbia and analyses their dependence of their location on chosen geographical and economical indicators. It will also show the situation of refugees in the new millennium considering their repatriation or naturalization. The last part finds out, if there is a noticeable amount of refugee population living in temporary conditions and how works the cooperation between the state and organizations, which are supposed to reduce number of refugees and internally displaced persons. Collapse of the USSR - Russsian national tragedy? Analysis of the Russian public opinion on the dissolution of the Soviet Union

Bachelor thesis Collapse of the USSR - Russian national tragedy? Analysis of the Russian public opinion on the dissolution of the Soviet Union discusses the Russian public opinion development about the end of the Soviet Union during the presidency of Boris Yeltsin (1991 - 1999) and Vladimir Putin (2000 - 2008). The first chapter illustrates the situation in Russia after the collapse of the USSR; afterwards it describes the social, political and economic situation of the country during mentioned periods. Based on the available opinion polls and academic works the second part of the thesis examines the shift in Russian understanding of the collapse of the Soviet Union. The fundamental premise of this thesis is the idea that the end of the USSR was Russian national tragedy. After the analysis author concludes that in Russian society during the presidency of both Yeltsin and Putin remained a basic level of post- Soviet nostalgia, yet it wasn't a national tragedy. The Transformation of perception of vampire in Western culture from early modern period to present : The Assessment of marginal cultural phenomenon in terms of civilization theory of Norbert Elias

The thesis deals with the transformation of perception of vampire in Western culture from early modern period to present. The vampire in modern Western culture is very popular and has an unwavering place. Vampires are now attractive and basically not dangerous. The subject of this work is question whether it was so in previous centuries. Work present the change in appearance and character, both fictional character and "real vampires." Based on the analysis of selected fictional works (literary and visual) from the late 18th century, when the vampire came to Western fiction, work shows how gradually transforms the image that this supernatural beings attributes in West. An essential part of how culture perceives certain phenomenon is a belief in it. Therefore I am interested in how the West over time explaining this phenomenon. Work also introduces the Norbert Elias's civilization theory. Analysis of transformation in the perception of a vampire in Western culture follows it's tracks and the results are compared with it with the goal to give answer on question whether this phenomenon is turning into the terms of this theory.
The new shape of journalism in the magazine respekt after format change

Diploma thesis The new shape of journalism in the magazine Respekt after format change deals with progress of news magazine Respekt after transformation to colored magazine. However, it is not described the transformation itself but it deals with another five years after format change to research new shape of journalism in news magazine Respekt. The structure of topics is compared to find out the influence to circulation. The changes are analysed in three parts of my thesis. It is formed by theory, memories of participants and analytical part including analysis media agenda of Respekt. Results of the analysis are put into clear graphs and tables. The thesis is comprehensive view of news magazine Respekt passed for more than five years after his transformation.
Moral Aspects of Fairy Tales

This Diploma Thesis "Moral Aspects of Fairy Tales" asks questions - Is it possible to find God's message in the fairy tales? Can God speak to us through these stories? Can the fairy tales be touched by history of redemption? In the beginning, this Diploma Thesis speaks about myth, about it's origin, functions and message, because the fairy tales have their roots in myth. For better apprehension of the fairy tales, there is used the theory of narrative as well as theory and history of fairy tales. The Diploma Thesis analyzes Jung's Archetypes. Archetypes help us to find messages for good life of human beeing in fairy tales. Another issue is "History of mankind as a chain of storries." This issue asks, why there is just few functions in the stories. It analyzes Jesus Christ as the first example of a main hero of fairy tales ant myths. The mankind should follow him in it's own storry. Universality of the storries is demonstrated in comparing of stories from Old Testament (Jonas, Jakob and Eliah) with motives in the fairy tales. Change in Czech women's opinions and attitudes towards family and reproducitve behaviour

Bachelor thesis "Change in czech women's opinions and attitudes towards family and reproductive behaviour" is focused on qualitative research conducted among two generations of czech women. The research technique was half structured interview. Interviews were made with mother and daugher from one family, so the possible change in approach to family and reproductive strategies could be found. It was also possible to find out, where family patterns were transmitted from mother to daugher through socialization. Questions were split into three parts, the first one was focused on the family of origin, the second one on the procreative family and the third one has included questions about attitudes towards family as an instititution. All daughters are currently college students, so college education was also examined in reference to planned life cycle. The gathered data were interpreted within the historical context. The education of mothers was influenced by communism, while girls have been growing up in democratic society.
The ideal of women beauty before and after 1989 - discourse analysis of Vlasta magazine

The thesis interprets the ideal of women beauty before and after 1989 in terms of sociological and culture discourse in Vlasta magazine. The key premise of the thesis is the claim that ideal of women beauty differs before and after 1989. It is possible to expect influence of politic system, social structure and culture forms on discourse of women beauty. Character of this thesis is theoretically-empiric. The sociologic gender theory serves as the frame for chosen topic. Research is based on analysis of discourse of women beauty in Vlasta magazine in 1975 and 2005. The goal of overall analysis is to provide series of detailed analysis which describe general magazine topics and role of the magazine in certain historical period beside discourse of beauty. I have chosen qualitative sociological method called discursive analysis for my thesis. Ambition of the thesis is to analyze one specific social discourse and introduce all key social, historical and culture aspects which can influence the discourse and use Vlasta magazine as its concrete case. JANA BLAHNÍKOVÁ Keywords: texture, matter, art informel, existentialism, time, change, traces, beauty, ugliness, imagination Abstract: The Master Thesis concerns itself with changes of artificial textures as an inspiration for creative work. By artificial textures are meant paints and layers on objects, on which time has left its mark. A part of the Thesis deals briefly with the basic categories of aesthetics with special regard to texture change. The Thesis maps out the Czech and the world art scene of the 1950s and 1960s and focuses on the main artists of that period, whose work relates to the subject. The theoretical base is linked with the artists and art schools of thought, which is presented in the didactic section a part of which I used in my practical work and described in the reflection.

This thesis deals with the theme of inner and outer landscapes in the fine arts in terms of pedagogic, historical and theoretical. Theoretical part of the bachelor thesis views on the theme of landscape from several views which focuse mostly on the horizont motive, inner and outer landscapes and Wallachia. Art part of the thesis presents the cycle of pictures, where inner and outer landscapes interwine, which are associated with the horizon and Wallachian countryside to which the author of this thesis has a very strong emotional relationship. Mind map shows application of landscape theme for lessons of arts in pedagogical part of the bachelor thesis. Pedagogical part includes art series that were realized in art lessons at the primary school Žerotínova.
