Hůlová Majerčíková, Petra ; Červenková, Denisa (advisor) ; Sládek, Karel (referee)
This work, entitled 'Service - the unifying element in the spirituality of Louise de Marillac and Vincent de Paul', deals with the interconnection of two spiritualities Louise de Marillac and Vincent de Paul. I tried to test the assumption that an important connecting element of both important figures in the history of Catholic spirituality is the spirituality of service. In a way, this diploma thesis is a continuation of the previous bachelor thesis entitled 'Selected themes of spirituality Louise de Marillac'. The text is divided into four parts. The first one deals with the contemporary context and spiritual influences in 17th century France. In this part, I also focus on important moments and originally different social and cultural conditions of life of Vincent de Paul and Louise de Marillac. The core of the second and third chapters are Vincent de Paul's spirituality and Louise se Marillac's spirituality. Immediately follows the fourth part, which is the link between the two previous chapters. It contains the key statements of the two saints, based on which it is possible to form an idea of what it meant to Vincent and Louise to honour the Incarnate Word, as manifested in their service and concrete charitable works. Finally, these works are presented as evidence of the unified emphasis of...

The casuistry as a tool for a solving of ethically difficult physicians' decisions
Moravec, Martin ; Fošum, Jan (advisor) ; Sládek, Karel (referee)
The casuistical manner of dealing with ethical issues goes as far as to the antiquity, and afterwards it was considerably developed in Christianity. Nevertheless from the half of the 17th century it was criticized because of abusing and due to the supposedly "unscientific" character and subsequently it has been abandoned. The ridiculous criticism of Blaise Pascal in his "Provincial Letters" has presented the casuistry as a way in which it is possible to justify almost any behaviour and this evaluation has remained up to the present day. In the same era the mathematization of natural sciences has led to impressive successes and the similar mathematical exactness was expected also in other fields of the human knowledge. Also ethics was concerned with seeking such abstract general principles, which were supposed to describe, cover and explain the whole field of morality. The value of casuistry was seen only as an illustration of such principles in an individual case. In my diploma thesis I attempted to rehabilitate the casuistry as an ethical method. I discussed the book of American authors Albert R. Johnes and Stephen Toulin "The Abuse of Casuistry" from the year 1988. The presentation of this publication is one of purposes of my thesis. Then I examined the casuistry as an ethical method in cases of...
Saint Francis' quest for the Crucified through the San Damiano Cross
Růžička, Jakub ; Sládek, Karel (advisor) ; Červenková, Denisa (referee)
Saint Francis' quest for the Crucified through the San Damiano Cross Abstract The encounter with the Crucified is the constitutive element of the spirituality of Saint Francis of Assisi. The objective of my thesis is finding the deeper understanding of Francis' perception of the cross. The topic should be elucidated by the San Damiano Cross Icon and other moments of the Saint of Assisi's life. The study of Francis' relation to the cross will be put into an appropriate context: the theology of the cross is mainly ingrained in the Jesus Christ's Mystery of Easter. This knowledge is deepened in life of the Early Church and, through the enriching epoch-making interposition even the "poor little" of Assisi may experience its fruits. In the fundamental part of the text I will organize the key materials for the study of Francis' relation to the crucified Christ contained in the franciscan sources with the help of the newest literature. Therefore the thesis will offer a complex view to one of the crucial moments of Francis' conversion. Keywords Saint Francis of Assisi, San Damiano, icon, cross, theology of the cross, The Crucified, history of the cross, speaking cross, franciscan sources, St. Paul, St. Bonaventure
The Religiosity of Russian Anarchism in the 19th Century and Petr Alexejevič Kropotkin
Zborníková, Andrea ; Sládek, Karel (advisor) ; Ventura, Václav (referee)
This thesis aims to analyse two very strong notions - Religiousness and Anarchism. We are used to comprehend these two notions as very different from one another, or even as two opposites. This thesis will show that even though we see Anarchism as Atheism, it is not always possible to exclude Religiousness from it. This fact will be shown as specifically Russian phenomenon. That is why it will be needed to explain broader context of Russian thought in the 19th century. Thesis will also aim to works of prince and anarcho-communist Peter Alexej Kropotkin where it will be possible to exemplify the strong inveteracy of Religiousness in Russian (Anarchist) thought and also the possibility of a dialog between these two notions. Keywords religious motives, religiosity, russian thinking, anarchism, anarchokomunism, spiritual thinking

This written work deals with the meaning of the terms usury and interest over the course of time from the anthropological-historical point of view given by the philosophical and theological authorities and painters of the time.
