Things and voidness (a philosophical inquiry on the selected themes of the Zhuangzi)
Machek, David ; Petříček, Miroslav (referee) ; Lomová, Olga (advisor)
The core of the paper is a philosophical and philological analys i s of four shorter passages from the old chinese philosophical text Zhuangzi. Considering traditional Chinese commentaries ( especially Guo Xiang) and inspired by modem continental philosophy ( especially Ricoeur and Heidegger), the author seeks to interconnect some of the crucial philosophical themes (losing and forgetting of I, change, freedom, dream, usefulness/uselessness) and build a framework for an overall philosophical interpretation, which would challenge the wide-spread but one-sided view claiming Zhuangzi to be a relativist and irationalist. Drawing on reflections that will find a key to the text in a Zhuangzi 's call for mutual incorporation of the voluntary with the involuntary and the reflective with the spontaneous the author is trying to grasp the relation of things and voidness as the underlying principle or reality. Much like the whole text of Zhuangzi this relation is also intrinsically ambiguous. Voidness tums out to be nothing but an expanded thingness, things, however, cannot be expanded unless they cease to be things. This conflict is incorporated in an sage, whose wisdom and legitimacy as a ruler over things is determined by the ability to accept this conflict and to reconciliate with himself.

The Reception of Patristic Fathers' Teaching on Pope's primate at the First Vatican Council
Mariae, Seraphina ; Pelc, Bogdan (advisor) ; Ventura, Václav (referee)
Anglická anotace The reception of patristic fathers' teaching on Pope's primate at the First Vatican Council The aim of this thesis is to show the evolution in conception of leadership of the Church. The reader will be able to see some parts of life and performance of the Church writers from the founding of the Church as well as where to find them in the Holy Scriptures. The tradition of the Church is part of its strengths. And the Church fathers are those who claim the tradition. This thesis talks about different problems which the Church had to face up but which at the same time helped to form today's wording of dogmas and philosophical movements which influence the basic Christian postures in leadership of the Church. This thesis marginally shows the historical evolution of the Pope's primate doctrine and what had the biggest influence on it. I.e. most important writers who had some influence on this item as well as intra-Church disputes which helped a lot to clear and form some of the arising questions. Heretical opinions had a big influence on the theme as well - when clear definitions were needed to fight against them. Part of the thesis is devoted to the First Vatican Council and connected events because there it was where the most important part of the primate doctrine was formed. When I wanted to...

The Development of the Drawing Art in German Speaking Countries from the 15th to the First Half of 17th Century Regarding its Representation in Czech and Moravian Collections
Volrábová, Alena ; Konečný, Lubomír (advisor) ; Royt, Jan (referee) ; Fučíková, Eliška (referee)
The thesis deals with the development of drawing in German-speaking countries since the early 15 th century, when the late Gothic traditions still echoed, to mannerism in the 16 th and first half of the 17 th centuries, when the Baroque enjoyed its ascent. The introductory chapter is dedicated to the current state of ongoing research, especially in Germany. Eliška Fučíková, in her Candidate of Sciences (CSc.) thesis in 1969, and later Pavel Preiss and today Lubomír Slavíček, have dealt with the subject in Bohemia. The next chapter deals with drawing techniques in the respective periods, with a focus on the pen drawing common in Germany at the time. The chapter that follows summarises the typical characteristics of German drawing, which was usually more confined and firm in volume than the Italian drawing of the time. The section addressing the representation of German drawing in the Czech collections is dedicated to the provenance of the drawings and the resulting repertoire of the museum collections in the Czech Lands. The explored theme is well represented for the most part, despite a painful lack of drawings by Albrecht Dürer. The thesis' main section follows the development of drawing in different art circles in German-speaking regions, illustrating its subject with examples found in public...

Grochol, Jana ; Jamek, Václav (referee) ; Voldřichová - Beránková, Eva (advisor)
The present study focuses on the problematics of perception of the bodily image as it appears in a women-written corpus. The theme of the metamorphosing female body has been investigated in three contemporary French novels : Biographie de Za faim by Amélie Nothomb, Truismes by Marie Darrieussecq and Rosie Carpe by Marie NDiaye. All written by female authors around the same age, these novels report on what it is like being a woman in a postmodern world. The female heroes are confronted with their own bodily self and the long-standing tradition of a male-dominated society. These testimonies, that comprise traumatising bodily experiences and difficult relationships with others, contribute to forge the feminine identity. The three female protagonists of the investigated corpus embark on an identity quest. They struggle against the established order to find their place in the society. Nothomb's narrator thematizes the difficult passage from a child to an adult body which imposes the body /mind separation on women. She perceives this transformation as a traumatizing experience of loss and denies it by confining her body. In a revulsion towards the adult female body anorexia is an attempt to defeat abjection. The hero of Truismes, on the other hand, constitutes an incarnation of the abject body. Providing a...
