The Caryāpadas: its language and religious meaning
Taimr, Martin ; Marková, Dagmar (referee) ; Hříbek, Martin (advisor)
This work aims to provide an overview of topic through the summary of available secondary literature. The discussed topic is one thousand years old Bengali religious songs. About fifty of these songs were discovered one hundred years ago in a Nepalese archive. Authors of the songs were mostly Buddhist laymen and masters from the area of nowadays Bangladesh and West Bengal. These songs are considered by scholars to be the oldest specimen of literature written in Bengali language although this pre-eminent position is claimed by closely related Indo-Aryan languages like Assamese, Bihari and Oriya too. Beside the philological aspect we are concerned with a particular coded language used in these songs. Then we discuss their content and spiritual meaning and we place the ideas they express into wider religious context.

Theatrum mundi - the theatre as a interpretation of the world (culturolgical analysis)
Urbanová, Berenika ; Soukup, Martin (referee) ; Czumalo, Vladimír (advisor)
The metaphor Theatrum mundi - we all are actors on the scene of the world - is known from Shakespeare's plays but it is an old topos, which is already shown in antcient Greek culture. Theatrum mundi could signify either a turning away from the material world in favour of heaven or the scrupulous study of the visible world; it could emphasize the essential hypocrisity of society as well as the centrialy of human action in the world. History of the metaphor is an interesting excursion to the history of european thinking. Theater metaphor suggests that knowledge is neither a mere reflection of what is known nor a fabrication, but a kind of performance or enactment. In my thesis I tried to focus on the history of this metaphor in the context of theory of theatricality. Theatrum mundi has many conjuctive subjects with others: e.g. "play within a play" and "life as a dream"; theme of spectaculatity implies some basics in sense of political manipulation. In chapter about social roles I tried to give a connection between old metaphoric theme and language of modern science.

Analysis of the Italian Labour Market
Kadlecová, Kateřina ; Filipová, Alena (advisor) ; Zeman, Jiří (referee)
The thesis consists of two main parts: descriptive and analytical. The descriptive part focuses on providing the readers with information about the main characteristics of the Italian labour market. It provides not only statistical data about the labour market but also describes the key instruments and provisions of the Italian social and labour policy. In the analytical part, conclusions from the descriptive part are drawn, several critical issues are pointed out and proposals for improvement are presented. Due to the complexity of the topic, the thesis concentrates on depicting an overall image of the current situation at the Italian labour market. However, it does not aspire to provide details on all range of questions related to it. As a logical consequence of the fact that hardly any information in the Czech language on the topic stays at disposal, the thesis is based on the information and data presented mostly in Italian, possibly in English language, by Italian and international (non-)governmental organisations.

Mass transport routing
Bečka, Michal ; Yaghob, Jakub (referee) ; Bulej, Lubomír (advisor)
A journey planning tool accessible from a mobile device provides travel information on the move. This work studies various aspects of mobile journey planners, including the history and limitations of mobile devices to deal with. First we analyze the connection with phone networks and the Internet for possible choices to place the tool, while recommending the most suitable ones. Then we study the developer environment consisting of various operating systems to show how compatible an application will be while selecting a programming language. Another part covers possible parameters for the journey search, from setting of basic location and time to optimizing other journey attributes. Following is an evaluation of journey planners already available. Then we investigate the source and form of input traffic data along with their availability. Finally we illustrate the ideas how the proposed parameters can be implemented on an example search algorithm. The purpose is to provide a comprehensive overview of the subject while researching possible improvements.

Children's worlds and phenomena of reality in a problem-oriented written in German Literature for young people in the last third of the 20th and the beginning of the 21st Century
Bučková, Tamara ; Veselá, Gabriela (advisor) ; Kouřimská, Milada (referee) ; Lenčová, Ivica (referee)
The presentend dissertation deals with children's literature/young-adult fiction in the scope of literary scientific study and foreign language education. It is an issue that has an interdisciplinary quality which offers an interesting linkage between literary science, pedagogy and didactics. Simultaneously, it is a field that has not been completely researched yet. Literary science focused on children's literature or young-adult fiction has been continuously developing since 1960s/1970s. It has only started to establish itself as a partial literary scientific and literary didactic discipline applied in foreign language education.

Portuguese proper nouns in Czech
Robovská, Lenka ; Hricsina, Jan (referee) ; Jindrová, Jaroslava (advisor)
Portuguese proper nouns, namely anthroponyms, in Czech are the subject of this both theoretical and empirical thesis. It seeks to map the use of this marginal vocabulary in Czech, to establish the extent of difficulties these names cause and to recommend a consistent way of treating them. It also relates Portuguese names to a broader context of foreign anthroponyms. The thesis covers three subtopics: firstly the pronunciation of these names in Czech, secondly the choice of inflectional paradigms and inflection of names and surnames together, thirdly the orthographical change in Czech. The basis for this work are publications on foreign proper nouns in Czech. These consist of codification handbooks and other relevant works on the Czech language, several works on names from a particular language and also various dictionaries, encyclopedias, history textbooks and other publications to certain extent touching the subject. These are confronted with a vast research, the first part of which is an excerption from publications written or translated by thirteen experts on the history of Portuguese speaking countries and on the literature of Portugal and Brazil. The second part analyzes one hundred of respondents inflecting names of five well-known figures of either Portugal or Brazil past and present. Results are...

For the use of German modal verbs and their competition forms in contrastive comparison with Czech language
Švachová, Olga ; Dovalil, Vít (referee) ; Doležal, Jiří (advisor)
In the presented study "For the Use of German Modal Verbs and their Competition Forms in Contrastive Comparison with Czech Language" the system of German modal verbs is compared with the system of Czech modal verbs. The most attention is paid to the modal verbs occurred in German language. After their detailed description their confrontation with Czech verbs follows. The study of the theme comes out from the most common concepts that classify into the classic group of German modal verbs these verbs: dürfen, können, mögen, müssen, sollen, wollen and into the classic group of Czech modal verbs these verbs: chtit, mit, moci, muset and smet. As both languages are typologically very close they have similar morphologically syntactic and semasiological characteristics of which array separates them from the other verbs. On the bases of the above mentioned theoretical interpretation, the contrastive analysis was realized by means of German rivalry programme "Wer wird Millionär" and Czech rivalry programme "Chcete byt miliomifem? ". The analysis compared incidence of individual German and Czech modal verbs, their forms and functions. Apart from this, incidence of corresponding German and Czech competitive forms and special cases of modal verbs occurrence was probed. In conclusion it was found out that individual...

Graphemics in the German documents of Václav IV 1379-1399
Bartůňková, Alena ; Ebelová, Ivana (referee) ; Vodrážková, Lenka (advisor)
The goal of this thesis is twofold. On the one hand I try to determine a system in the use of the graphemes in the documents of Vac1av IV. from the years 1379-1399 and I confront the findings with the use of the graphemes in the Middle Upper German (Mittelhochdeutsch). On the other hand, I compare these results with the use ofthe graphemes in the early Upper German (Frühneuhochdeutsch) as described in the literature, in particular in 1. T. Piirainen, V. Moser, H.Bokova, L.E. Schmitt and V.E. Mourek. The first chapter describes the period of reign of Vac1av IV as weIl as the personality ofthe ruler. The second chapter deals with the court ofVac1av IV. with a particular emphasis on the language situation at the court. Further, Vac1av IV.'s chancellery is characterized in the chapter three as apart of the court and I also shortly describe its history, structure as weIl as the competence of its members. Chapter five is devoted to documents as objects of a study; thus, first I define and c1assify different types of docurnents and second, I indicate the relevant features both in the form of the document and its content. The next chapter describes the status of the early Upper German (Fruhneuhochdeutsch) as it emerges from the literature. The seventh chapter lists the documents of Vac1av IV. between the years 13...

Teaching of combinatorics at high school with the help of internet web-sites
Farská, Jana ; Pavlíková, Pavla (referee) ; Robová, Jarmila (advisor)
The main task of this thesis was to create web pages for teaching High School combinatorics. During working on the thesis, there were only incomplete or, very brief web pages with this theme on the Internet and many of them did not exploit it's possibilities. The web pages were static and there were very few references to the other pages. This was more exploited on the English web pages. Some of the existing web pages are classified in the first part of this thesis. The second part contains new web pages. The pages are constructed using HTML language, the scripts are made in JavaScript and the graphic layout is defined mainly in the extern CSS files. The pages are intended for self-studying, but it is also possible to use them in school education. The pages contain the explanation of combinatorics, solved examples and exercises. By clicking the specified icon it is possible to show the answers to the exercises. Some of them (mainly the more difficult ones) have hidden hints or contain the whole solution.

Comparing English and Czech idioms from an onomasiological perspective
Koucká, Anna ; Klégr, Aleš (advisor) ; Čermák, Jan (referee)
The present master's thesis deals with the theme anger in English and Czech phrasemes. The theoretical part describes the basic relevant concepts and terminology of phraseology: the definition of phraseology and phraseological units, the theoretical structural (formal and functional) classification of phrasemes on the lexical, collocational and propositional level, the lexicographical presentation of phrasemes/ idioms in dictionaries (semasiological and onomasiological) and the semantic classification of phrasemes (including metaphors, metonymy, synecdoche and personification). The research and analysis consist of the description of data collection, which are excerpted from two English and one Czech phraseological dictionaries (Cambridge International Dictionary of Idioms, Oxford Dictionary of Idioms and Slovník české frazeologie a idiomatiky I-IV), structural and semantic classification of the phrasemes of both languages from the point of view of their quantitative representation and the final comparison of the samples of the two languages that demonstrates which aspects of the given theme are phraseologically expressed in English and in Czech, how frequently and in what way.
