Translation of technical texts from German into Czech
Fořtová, Bohuslava ; Svoboda, Tomáš (advisor) ; Špirk, Jaroslav (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to provide an insight into the translation of technical texts from German to Czech. The theoretical part discusses the present state of knowledge of technical translation in Czech and German speaking countries, the scientific discourse, text typology and classification of texts with regard to the context. Furthermore, this thesis describes contrasts of technical texts, and their characteristic features on a lexical, syntactic, semantic, pragmatic and text level. This thesis focuses on technical translation of medical texts with their most common text types and specific features, and explains implications for their translation from German to Czech. The empirical part of the thesis includes translation analysis of a chosen text type and an overview of main text types in medicine, followed by examples of parallel texts in Czech and German. To provide more objective information about translation of technical texts, a survey was carried out among translators and translation services agencies. The subsequent results were compared with the findings presented in the theoretical part. In the conclusion, this thesis summarizes the results of the research into the translation of technical texts from German to Czech with regard to medical texts and offers suggestions for further research.

Historical and present anthropogenic gradients in landscape
Staněk, Ondřej ; Klinerová, Tereza (referee) ; Vojta, Jaroslav (advisor)
My bachelor thesis is concerned in determining and classification of main anthropogenic influences in various ecosystems. Intensity and direction of landscape transformations such as nutrient income, terrain changes, disturbance, biomass removal or fragmentation is discussed and evaluated. Other landscape factors taking part in ecosystem endurance like different structure and pH of soils or various microclimatic conditions are also taken in notice. It seems that intensity of human influence varies depending on it's nature and it is difficult to propose a linear scale of these changes. From this point of view German hemeroby concept is discussed as possibly suitable scale of human influence. Alternative methods of estimating potential output and the output Gap: An application to Czech
Krasnovský, Pavol ; Brůna, Karel (advisor) ; Kuncl, Martin (referee)
The text discusses some used methods for estimating potential product and output gaps based on aggregated data for the Czech Republic. Though these methods exhibit some common features, an empirical comparison demonstrates that the various techniques differ substantially. In particular, the correlation of output gaps calculated with different methods is generally low , the methods imply different turning points. To conclude, the methods for estimating potential product a used have only limited information content for macroeconomics.

Comparison of coherent demand systems: The case of meat demand in the Czech Republic
Dlasková, Karolína ; Ščasný, Milan (advisor) ; Mikolášek, Jakub (referee)
There are many models used to estimate demand elasticities. We present a complex review of these studies in our thesis. Our empirical goal is to compare LES, Translog and QUAIDS demand systems according to their performance. In parallel, we estimate the elasticities of meat demand in the Czech Republic for the period 2010 - 2015 using the data of the household budget survey. Comparing the systems by the Akaike and Schwarz criterion, LES demonstrates the best fit for this kind of data. The average of price elasticity for different kinds of meat in the examined period is -0.99, income elasticity then equals to 1.12. These results can have important implications for tax policy, or for commercial use. Trojanová, Tereza ; Pacovská, Jasňa (advisor) ; Lehečková, Eva (referee)
The bachelor papers have a goal to examine the area of semantic characteristics of verbs that are used by younger school-age children in their written expressions. The individual written works of the children from the fifth class of elementary school are a base for the research. The quantitative methods of research are used due to the gaining of relevant facts for the analysis of the collected material. Any quantification of the cognitive development cannot be held as generally true. The bachelor papers enrol certain tendencies of the children's speech development, which can become an impulsion for further scientific research. An asset of the papers is also an appendix with the primary younger school-age children's texts. The bachelor papers are divided into a theoretical and an empiric part. The theoretical part describes the basic starting points of psycholinguistics and introduces different attitudes to the language acquisition by a child. Further, it contains a chapter characterizing a period of younger school age and chapters devoting the issue of verbs, their semantics and a classification in light of semantic features. The empiric part shows the work hypothesis, description of the research sample and the methodology of the research. The core of this part is a quantitative expression of a...
