Greens versus greens. Radical ecology - the comparative analysis of social ecology and deep ecology.
Novák, Arnošt ; Rynda, Ivan (advisor) ; Ortová, Jitka (referee)
The thesis presents comparative analyse of two streams of radical ecology - social and deep. This comparative study uses the hermeneutic method to select essential themes of the dispute between social and deep ecology. The essential themes are: the concept of nature, racioniality, the causes of ecological problems, the vision of environment as garden or wilderness, overpopulation and the ecological policy in action. The result of this comparative analyses is that synthesis of social and deep ecology isn't possible because of fundamental dissagreement. Despite this the discussion between both ecologies is needed. The social and deep ecology grow close by the critics of contemporary capitalistic and industrial society and awareness of necessary change.

Utilization of endophytic microorganisms for growth promotion of Miscanthus
Mrnka, Libor ; Frantík, Tomáš ; Schmidt, Christoph Stephan ; Lovecká, P.
Increased survival and aboveground biomass yield of Miscanthus was achieved due to the inoculation of Miscanthus seedlings by a mixed inocula based on the selected endophytic microbes (bacteria and fungi). Inoculated treatments produced 20-90% higher yield of biomass compared to the controls. Importantly, fungal inoculum increased also production of rhizomes and the same trend was observed in the treatment inoculated by the bacterial mixture. Bacterial endophytes also strongly augmented overwintering of the plants on one of the tested model plantations. Because the price of the inocula production is economically feasible and does not substantially increase the plantation establishment costs we hope for fast implementation of the methodology both in CR and beyond.

Influence of albendazole on cell proliferation in vitro
Fišerová, Kateřina ; Szotáková, Barbora (advisor) ; Jirkovská, Anna (referee)
Charles University in Prague Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové Department of Biochemical Sciences Candidate: Bc. Kateřina Knoppová Supervisor: Doc. Ing. Barbora Szotáková, Ph.D. Supervisor specialist: RNDr. Věra Králová, Ph.D. Title of diploma thesis: Influence of albendazole on cell proliferation in vitro Albendazole (ABZ) is a benzimidazole anthelmintic widely used for the treatment of parasitic diseases in man and animals. The mechanism of action is based on inhibition of microtubule polymerization by binding of ABZ to the β-subunit of tubulin in parasites. As a result, it subsequently leads to the disruption of vital functions of the parasite and to its death. After elucidation of this mechanism, ABZ was tested as a potential anticancer agent. It has been shown that it is able to inhibit proliferation of some cancer cell lines. In this study, we examined the effect of ABZ on cell proliferation in vitro. For the purpose of our experiment we used cell lines derived from colorectal carcinoma - SW 480 and SW 620 together with a cell line NCM 460 isolated from normal colonic mucosa. The cells were treated with ABZ in the concentration range of 0.01 - 10 µM for 24, 48 and 72 hours. Cell viability was determined using WST-1 assay and Neutral Red Uptake Test (NRU). ABZ inhibited cell proliferation...

Chmelíková, Jana ; Ryšávková, Andrea (advisor) ; Otáhal, Stanislav (referee)
Summary The objeetive of the work was to deseribe therapy by the method of Katharina Sehroth and earrying out an experiment where eurrent ehanges of the spine shape were evaluated in symmetrie and asymmetrie isommetrie aetivation of upper limbs (element based on the Sehroth method) in people with idiopatie seoliosis. The presented work was earried out in a group of 5 adoleseents (girls with idiopatie seoliosis). For evaluation, the shadow moiré topography was used. The probands were monitored and evaluated in 5 positions: resting posture with both upper limbs lowered, resting posture with abduetion and exterior shoulder rotation and 90 degrees elbow flexion, standing posture with symmetrie eontraetion of upper limbs (leaning against both poles) and standing posture with asymmetrie eontraetion of the right upper limb, left upper limb (leaning against one pole). Changes of lumbar flexure were eompared in all the three basie anatomie levels. Based on the results we ean state that due to muscle eontraetion, the shape ofthe spínal eolumn ehanges (often signifieantly) in all three anatomie levels. The numerieal findings ean be used in physiotherapeutie praetiee in ehoosing the right therapy for a seoliotie patient. Therefore, this therapeutie element of the Sehroth method is stili a good option for the...

Signs in the streets - Comparison of Danish and Czech city design is a desk study which is concerned with history and forms of visual communication in public area and its position in the early 21st century. The target of these graduation theses was compare the position and level of visual communication in Denmark and in the Czech Republic. Information and orientation systems are incorrect in both countries but the errors come from different reasons. The big differences were noted at the level of processing of advertising which is at an even higher level in Denmark due to of stability and tradition of craft. keywords: street development, graphic design, visual communication, design, orientation system, advertising, poster, graffiti.

Chelating polymers for the therapy of Wilson's disease
Mattová, Jana ; Poučková, Pavla (advisor) ; Sedláková, Zdeňka (referee) ; Vávrová, Jiřina (referee)
Wilson's disease is a hereditary disorder of copper metabolism, which causes copper accumulation in organism, especially in the liver, kidneys and brain. Current treatment is based on using low-molecular weight copper chelators and high doses of zinc salts. Unfortunately, they can induce some severe side effects due to systemic action. The aim of this thesis is to improve the treatment of Wilson's disease by using of polymeric drug delivery systems. The size of polymer particles in tens of microns should provide non-resorbability of the drug after oral administration. Synthetic microparticles of poly(glycidyl methacrylate-co- ethylene dimethacrylate), natural microcrystalline cellulose and cross-linked chitosan were used as polymer matrices. N,N-di(2-pyridylmethyl)amine, triethylenetetraamine and 8-hydroxyquinoline were selected as specific copper chelators, which can complex copper cations with high efficiency. The principle of the proposed treatment is that the polymeric carrier-bound chelator complex copper directly from the food in digestive tract of the organism. Because of non-resorbability, the entire complex should be eliminated from the body together with stools. This virtually eliminates systemic side effects. The ability of adsorption of copper and the stability of polymer complex under...

Personality Protection and Camera Systems
Široký, Oldřich ; Cvik, Eva Daniela (advisor) ; Pavla, Pavla (referee)
The thesis deals with the protection of individual integrity and camera systems, through the lens of valid and effective law regulation. The content of this work is formulation of theoretical basis, an analysis of relevant laws governing the issue of individual integrity protection of natural persons (especially their privacy) and camera systems, specifically for each type of camera system: the camera system with recording, camera system without recording, comparison of both types of camera systems and an account of legal instruments available for protection of individual integrity of each person, whose universal individual integrity rights were violated due to the operation of a camera system (regardless of it's type). The theoretical basis is followed by the main body of work, which explores researching camera system usage within a specific public authority agency. The operation of camera system is subjected to critical legal analysis, where particular aspects of a specific public authority subject's practice is evaluated as part of the findings of the thesis and qualified as compliant or non-compliant with the law. At the end of the work, the author formulates specific recommendations to the public authority agency, aiming to improve the approach to operating a camera system from the legal point of view.

Visualization Support in Sefl-Service Business Intelligence Tools - a SAS Visual Analytics and IBM Cognos Analytics Comparison
Espinoza, Felix ; Maryška, Miloš (advisor) ; Berber, Martin (referee)
The thesis deals with problematics of tools marked as Self Service Business Intelligence (SSBI) which is paid close attention by its users as well as producers due to expected progressive growth of this trend. Two products are evaluated: SAS Visual Analytics and IBM Cognos Analytics, both tools are evaluated by their extent of user´s autonomy and support of data visualization. Basic principles and concepts connected to the area of business intelligence are defined in theoretical part of the thesis. The problematics of data visualization is introduced and trend of self-service business intelligence is discussed with analyzing its benefits as well as restrictions. Technological factors which helped to fast development of SSBI are mentioned as well. A methodology has been created within practical part of the thesis. It is enforceable for any other tool from the family of SSBI and it is possible to assess the extent of support within observed categories through this methodology: Using information, Creation of information, Creation of sources and Visualization. A set of criteria on basis of which the evaluator can create evaluation form corresponding to his/her needs was defined for each of the stated categories. Usability of the methodology is illustratively demonstrated at mutual comparison of chosen modules of both tools while those parts are sufficiently described before the evaluation itself.
