Malinda, Jan ; Köpplová, Barbara (advisor) ; Groman, Martin (referee)
This diploma work "Controlling of local newspaper in the Litomefice district by the organs of KSC during the period 1969 - 1989" describes how the District Committee of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia (OV KSC) influenced the content of county (local) newspaper Proud in the course of so-called "normalization" period between 1969 and 1989. Being entirely ideologically subservient to av KSC, the "county newspaper" were issued in every county of Czechoslovakia. This subjection was thereby strongly expressed as to the content of the newspaper. The OV KSC intervened very often to the processing, deforming so the reporting and therefore the image of reality was particularly distorted. So called "Plan of themes", which was approved by av KSC every six months, represented the main ideological instrument for the invasion of newspaper-content. This "Plan of themes" sketched to the Proud's editorship which topics and subjects are necessarily to be published within the next six months. Another regulations to Proud came from emergency measures created by the Presidium of OV KSC. They included some dictates which were sent from the Presidium of the Central Committee KSC. Besides that, the av KSC intervened to Proud furthermore because of its decision making as to the position of the editor in chief and its...

Jurčíková, Barbara ; Perottino, Michel (advisor) ; Tomalová, Eliška (referee)
The present thesis seeks to confirm that Valéry Giscard d'Estaing wanted to be, tried to be and was a reformist politician. Roots of Giscard's reform of thinking can be found in the 1960's, i.e. in the period preceding the elections in 1974, when he was politically active. His base was the former Club Perspectives et Réalités and the National Federation of Independent Republicans, which brought together liberal-minded politicians and which accompanied him during his political career, even though they did not follow his ascent. Which reforms were crucial for Giscard himself and which were crucial for the society? Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)

Autor: Martina Červenková Title: Biochemical identification of Enterobacteriaceae - development and comparison of methods. Bachelor's thesis Charles University in Prague, Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové Course of study: medical laboratory technician Objective of the thesis: The topic of the thesis is to describe and simultaneously compare the most important biochemical methods used for diagnosis of Enterobacteriaceae. The emphasis is put mainly on the development and progress in the field of microbiology. Key findings: Biochemical tests are now performed mainly automatically. The advantages of the automated form of diagnosis are simplicity, speed, increased sensitivity and accuracy, and a reduced need for sample quantity. The main disadvantages are incomplete database of microorganisms and the inability to test sensitivity to all antibiotics. Conclusion: Despite the far reaching development of molecular biological methods, biochemical tests still have an important role in the identification of Enterobacteriaceae.

The Satanic Verses: In Quest of Identities
Poncarová, Petra ; Nováková, Soňa (advisor) ; Varhaníková, Halka (referee)
in English This thesis is concerned with the theme of identity in Salman Rushdie's novel The Satanic Verses, namely with the metamorphoses of identity in relation to space. The issue of space and identity comprises both the analysis of the concrete locations and their impact on human beings, but also broader topics such as the mass migration in the second half of the 20th century. The novel is (in)famous mainly for the charge of blasphemy that was brought against it, and for the international controversy that followed its publication, but this thesis tries to read the novel as a literary work of art, as a manifestation of free authorial imagination which nevertheless addresses many issues of great social and political relevance. The first chapter defines the scope of the thesis, its methods and main theoretical sources; the second begins the actual discussion of identity: how are identities presented at the beginning of the novel. This chapter also briefly introduces some theoretical attitudes to identity. The relation of identity to space is the topic of the third chapter. Salman Rushdie's writing in general is characterized by the author's deep interest in the transformations of human identity under the influence of migration, and in The Satanic Verses, this theme becomes both the formal and the...

Efficiency in international funds for climate change
Husová, Kateřina ; Jílková, Jiřina (advisor) ; Vojáček, Ondřej (referee)
In years long negotiations on the new global climate change regime, financial support provided for adaptation and mitigation in developing countries have been one of the most contentious issues. Billions dollars are in questions annually, disbursed both by private investments, as well as substantially via public funds. The fundamental question resonating in the negotiations and elsewhere though is the issue of efficient delivery. Given the scale of resources, which should be mobilized and disbursed, given the current experience with inefficiencies in ODA, given the fact that existing climate change funds are now disbursing millions but not billions, the efficiency is really the key for success of future climate regime. Moreover, efficient delivery is a pre-condition for "preventing dangerous interference with climate change", which is the ultimate goal of climate change policy enshrined in the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change envisages. It is a widespread belief that inefficiency in disbursing public funds remains at the recipient's side. This paper tries to approach the efficiency question at the case of the Global Environment Facility, the Kyoto Protocol Adaptation Fund and the World Bank Climate Investment Funds. It asks the question whether the existing funding mechanisms in climate change are set up optimally in order to disburse funds efficiently. When looking at their internal policies and guidelines, it focuses on the four leading questions -- how can funds be accessed, who decides, who and how implements and how are funds held accountable. It finds that there are major differences between the tree funds in how and by whom are priorities and objectives decided, what are the fund's requirements on recipients, and how does the fund control the efficiency of its spending. This paper brings an in-depth analysis of weak and strong policies in existing climate change funds with regard to efficient delivery.
