Noera, Simona ; Fulka, Josef (advisor) ; Marcelli, Miroslav (referee)
This experimental research rises from the need to demonstrate how Bateson' s ecological model can be applied and expanded to visual communication. The purpose is to draw the relationships and mechanisms that create for us the world as an energetic vibrant and interconnected network in the contemporary culture, which is mainly based on visual communication, pursuing the goal of suggesting a theory for the metropolitan flows. This study is intended to be developed in two parts and has an anthropological - even if interdisciplinary - imprinting. The first part (narratively theoretical) will be focused on the main concepts of my research (creation of identity and avatars, social body, the city architectural body, relationships, non-lieux, visual communication, in-between, editing - mounting - bricolage, goods visual fetishism, visual anthropology, pattern) through authors the likes of Bateson, Canevacci, Simmel, Benjamin, Bataille, Baudelaire, Augé and more. The second part of this Prague city behave exploration will be evinced through the dialogic methodology (cf. Bakhtin), namely the narrative flow of voices that with the editing technique will create a polyphonic narration, proving my hypothesis. This narration will be strongly supported by the monographic documentary film, titled "Fluxusná...

Image interpretation value and its purpose in creation of scientific figures and infographics
Phung, Hyu Nghia ; Sigmund, Tomáš (advisor) ; Horný, Stanislav (referee)
Graphic figures and various types of infographics have become an essential part of the scientific papers, business presentations and study materials. Although, authors of these documents often lack the knowledge of basic rules and principles of graphic design and learn how to create figures by trial and error. Literature addressing the issues of effective verbal (presentation skills) and non-verbal (principles of scientific writing) is available and accessible. Though literature addressing the issues of scientific figure design and general visual design are very few, sometimes non existent, despite the fact that images, figures and various charts are one of the most effective mediums for information sharing. This lack of material knowledge is detrimental to the quality of works of managers, professors and researchers. This thesis attempts to fill in this gap and motivate readers to further development and research of the issue. The thesis addresses the issue of figures from its core, those being the basic principles of image perception and interpretation. Building on concepts of theorists like Peirce, Saussure and Eco the thesis will then define the meaning and purpose of "Image Interpretation Value". Selected principles of figure construction and interpretation will be introduced. These principles will then be further analyzed and applied on the level of business and scientific figures. Each chapter will include various graphic figures and practical examples to enhance further understanding of the issue. The primary purpose and goal of this thesis is to create an easy-to-follow set of instructions and suggestions on how to design effective and intelligible figures to be used in the fields of business communication, scientific research and academic teaching.

Lidová, Klára ; GREMLICOVÁ, Dorota (advisor) ; NĚMEČKOVÁ, Elvíra (referee)
The objective of this thesis is to give a practical overview of the phenomenon of dance on TV and in film - the theoretical, artistic, cinematic and technical principles that should be taken into consideration when attempting to record a dance performance in a 2D moving image, the options and possibilities available, the current state of discourse on the topic as well as potential future development in this area. The author's decision to focus on the latest developments (especially in the more technical Chapters 3-5) may come at the risk of the information described in these Chapters becoming obsolete rather fast. However, the numerous links to online sources provided in the Reference section will make it easy to update the paper.
