Integrating Role of Adipose Tissue Secretory Functions in Response to Dietary and Pharmacological Treatments
Macek Jílková, Zuzana ; Kopecký, Jan (advisor) ; Müllerová, Dana (referee) ; Cahová, Monika (referee)
Obesity represents a predominant risk factor for the development of metabolic diseases like type 2 diabetes mellitus and it is characterized by adipocyte hypertrophy. The size of adipocytes influences the adipocytes biology and secretory functions of adipose tissue in general. Understanding the mechanisms regulating growth and secretory activity of adipose tissue is of paramount importance. Moreover, obesity represents a chronic subclinical inflammatory state linking obesity to insulin resistance and hypertrophic adipocytes contribute to this phenomenon. An improvement of strategies used in the prevention and treatment of inflammation associated with obesity is therefore urgently needed. The four studies described in this thesis address several topics related to adipose tissue biology, and thus contributing to the understanding of the integrating role of adipose tissue secretory functions in response to dietary and pharmacological treatments. This thesis demonstrates a possible role of white adipose tissue thyroid hormones (TH) metabolism in the modulation of its function under conditions of changing adiposity (Publication A); a unique role of leptin, secreted from adipose tissue, in the complex control of energy homeostasis of the organism (Publication B); beneficial effects of the combination treatment of...

Effective and transparent data backup
Milan, Ján ; Obdržálek, David (referee) ; Kopecký, Michal (advisor)
The thesis describes the implementation of an effective and easily manageable backup system for OS MS Windows XP and newer. Emphasis is put on the simplicity of defining objects to be backed up. Effectiveness has been attained by backing only those files up, which has changed since last backup cycle. Unlike most other backup systems, delta files are used during transferring into remote server. The main contribution of this thesis is unique mechanism used to create copies of old versions of files. These are created by moving the files itself into temporary storage, when the request to overwrite them arrives. Moved old versions of files are used as an input for creating delta files. Designed solution contains user interface which enable comfortable backup of user data onto a removable disk. However it may be used also as a base for backup onto a remote computer. The description of file system filter development among others summarizes many issues and best practices for developing in kernel mode and may be used as an introduction into this area.

New regionalism from the Chinese perspective
Štrba, Ondřej ; Hnát, Pavel (advisor) ; Suchá, Tereza (referee)
Main aim of the thesis is to describe possible future development of integration of China into world economy in terms of new regionalism. It will provide description of current situation and will demonstrate different ways in which the regional integration may develop. Regional integration can be understood as an instrument to achieve even bigger prosperity in shorter time, more power in the region and increase in importance of the country in the field of trade and policy. The author will illustrate and defend this theory based on available information, mainly on international trade, historical development of China and relevant regional integrations and actual state of international agreements.

Forbidden Oxygen line emission from the traces of meteors
Habuda, Pavol ; Borovička, Jiří (advisor) ; Šolc, Martin (referee)
The aim of this diploma thesis was to study forbidden green oxygen line emission. It was found out that green line emit mainly in heights 100-110 kilometers, exceptionally below 90 kilometers. Time evolution of green line intensity with respect of heights was investigated in detail. There was suggested theoretical dependency and agreement with observed data was fulfilled. Dependency of integral intensity was investigated as well. Mechanisms of excitation and quenching of green line in emission was proposed in previous studies in 70. of previous century. This work discuss with its results. Efficiency of transformation of kinetic energy of meteoroid to forbidden green line's emission was discussed. The concentrations of atomic oxygen was estimated by several way in heights of green line emission.
