The comparison of systems of health insurance in the Czech republic and in the United States of America

The main purpose of my bachelor's work is to analyse the system of health insurance in the Czech Republic in comparison with the system established in the United States of America. The choice of these two countries is wholly intentional, because I would like to show the strong points and possible weaknesses of these two absolutely different systems. I shortly summarize the general principles of providing the public and private health insurance in the introductory part of my bachelor's work. Then I go over to the specific systems used in these two countries. I point out the defects of the public health insurance on an example of the Czech Republic, particularly its inefficiency and actual problems. I focus on an example of the USA in the next chapter, where is the private health insurance based on a voluntary base provided. I compare real indicators of these two countries in the analytical part of my work, e.g. the total expenditures on the health care etc. In this analysis I consider a rate of the efficiency, solidarity, accessibility and quality of the provided health care in these different systems. In conclusion I sum up the results of my analysis and consider whether and possibly in which way the Czech system of health insurance could be inspired by the American system.

Usage of Informatica tools in a datawarehouse and optimalization of ETL processes

The graduation thesis is engaged in the problems of ETL development in terms of Business Intelligence solution. It analyses the wider portfolio of aplications supporting ETL development and offers the survey of its basic characteristics. There is a detail analysis of the pair of chosen instruments which utility is shown on the development of the real transformations. Then the advantages and possible risks of the transition on the higher edition of the product PowerCenter from Informatica company are being analysed too. The constituent of the thesis is engaged in optimalization procedure which is put into real operation of data warehouse and shows its benefit in term of computer time reduction The aim of the thesis is to show the detail look into the ETL instruments, formation of ETL transformations and not least the ways of optimalization of ETL transformations. The graduation thesis proposes to solve the problems in selection of convenient ETL instrument not only from the view of ETL developer in the shape of detailed comparison of the pair instrument usage but also from the view of management in the shape of general survey, basic characteristics and the comparison of wider porfolio of ETL instruments. In terms of detailed analysis the set Informatica PowerCenter should give us answers for the questions like: "What advantages does the upgrade of Informatica PowerCenter range 7 to range 8 bring?" or "What problems may that upgrade cause and how can we solve those problems? The part devoted to optimalization proposes to offer the outlook to the basic optimalization procedures inside the data warehouse and comparison of its contribution. In parallel with analytic part there is also proceeding the formation of practical part of the graduation thesis which consists in development of really used ETL transformations and in optimalization of selected ETL transformations of data warehouse. First the graduation thesis is concentrated on the analytic activity consisting in the products research which are on the top of ETL development. Then it is gathering the detailed knowledge of two instruments which is aplicated for the formation of ETL transformations The second analytic phase is concentrated on the optimalization procedures. The knowledge acquired in that phase is subsequently used in practice and the final analysis of those procedures and benefits is proceeding. The graduation thesis does not also miss out to partly outline the future development in the field of ETL.The main contribution consists in giving not only the comprehensive survey of ETL instruments but also in the detailed analysis of pros and cons of the pair of selected products. The thesis offered the answers to the questions asked in the outset connected with the transition to upper version of Power Center. The analysis of optimalization procedure enabled the optimalization of 29 ETL transformations and their high effectivity was proved too.

School libraries in Spain and selected countries of Latin America: analysis and comparison with school libraries in the Czech Republic

Diplomová práce analyzuje současný stav školních knihoven ve Španělsku a podává nástin situace i v Latinské Americe. K hlavním cílům patří zejména porovnání se stavem školních knihoven v České republice. Zabývá se trendy v oblasti školních knihoven, legislativou na národní i mezinárodní úrovni a možným způsobem evaluace činnosti práce školních knihoven. Práce obsahuje šest kapitol a přílohu. Stěžejní částí práce jsou kapitoly třetí, čtvrtá a pátá, které detailněji popisují školní knihovny ve Španělsku podle nejnovějších studií z této oblasti, a porovnávají s Českou republikou. V závěru jsou vysvětleny použité zkratky. Přílohu diplomové práce tvoří ukázka projektu jedné školní knihovny ve Španělsku a popis elektronického adresáře španělských školních knihoven.

Charakterizuje aktuální stav realizace předmětu Praktické činnosti i materiálního zabezpečení nutného k realizaci Praktických činností a vzdělávací oblasti Člověk a svět práce na vybraných pražských školách. Aktuální stav realizace Praktických činností i představa o budoucí realizaci oblasti Člověk a svět práce byla zjištěna dotazovacími metodami v říjnu 2006. Práce dále upozorňuje na některé problémy, které se vyskytují nebo by se mohly, vyskytnout v souvislosti s realizací praktických činností zařazených do oblasti Člověk a svět práce. Obsah a struktura webových dokumentů a jejich přístupnost

Předkládáná práce Karla Adámka Obsah a struktura webových dokumentů a jejich přístupnost se zabývá dynamicky se rozvíjejícím, avšak doposud poněkud opomíjeným tématem uživatelské přístupnosti jednotlivých produktů webového designérství. Autor nejdříve v úvodu své studie podává definici jednotlivých pojmů týkajících se přístupnosti webových stránek, poté vymezuje okruh handicapovaných uživatelů Internetu a v modelových situacích se zabývá jejich možnými konkrétními problémy při kontaktu s výše uváděnými aplikacemi. Poté přistupuje k popisu a analýze kompenzačních pomůcek užívaných zdravotně postiženými pří práci s informačními technologiemi a obtížemi, jež z tohoto stavu věcí vyplývají. Dále nás seznamuje s analýzou pravidel webové přístupnosti a na základě mezinárodního srovnání i s konkrétními pokusy o jejich aplikování v různých evropských a světových zemích. Jako příklad jsou uváděny a analyzovány legislativní úpravy v USA, Německu, Austrálii, České republice a dalších státech. Tato analýza se mu poté stává východiskem pro srovnání jednotlivých institucí a organizací, jež se webovou přístupností různorodě zabývají. Výsledky této komparace, včetně objevených nedostatků, pak autorovi slouží jako podklad k formulování zásad algoritmu tvorby ideálně přístupného webu. Autor nás postupně seznamuje se základními kritérii, pojmy a principy, jichž by se měl držet každý, kdo usiluje o maximální přístupnost svého webu. Postupně jsou probírány podmínky a kvality, jako je ovládání, navigace, grafická podoba, obsah webového dokumentu, uživatelské prostředí, zdrojový kód stránky atd., které se podstatnou měrou podílejí na zajištění ideální přístupnosti webu. Tato analýza je završena tezí o důležitosti dosud podceňované implementace přístupnosti k webu v různých organizacích a nárysem její základní organizační struktury a uplatnění v každé firemní kultuře a struktuře. Její součástí jsou i testovací nástroje a metodiky, které autor uplatnil při rozboru vybraných webových stránek ministerstev České republiky s využitím softwarových produktů, jako jsou aplikace Bobby, Cynthia Says, WAWE 3.0 a AccessColor. V neposlední řadě pak rozbor úrovně přístupnosti těchto konkrétních webových domén, ale i výše uváděných testovacích programů autora přivedl na myšlenku vytvoření vlastního testovacího nástroje, jenž by ztělesňoval dosavadní výsledky jeho zkoumání a respektoval závěry, které z nich vyplynuly, a který je také nedílnou součástí této práce na přiloženém CD.

The Development of Reading Literacy in Nursery Schools

Současná populace málo čte, zájem o knihy klesá, knihkupectví i knihovny si stěžují na snižující se počty zákazníků a návštěvníků, neustále více dětí má problémy při výuce čtení - to nejsou jen nepodložená tvrzení. Výzkumy probíhají v mnoha zemích po celém světě a ukazují, že tomu tak skutečně je. Protože jsem sama od dětství náruživou čtenářkou a na knihu jsem si dokázala najít čas vždy, pokusila jsem se zjistit, proč se tak děje a zároveň chci jako učitelka mateřské školy ukázat, jak je možné už v předškolním věku děti ke čtení a čtenářství vést. State-building and developing governance capacity in East Timor

This diploma thesis elaborates on state-building in the form of a case study of East Timor. East Timor has hosted an international state-building intervention as a result of the lack of governance capacity. East Timor is not the first case of a failed state with implied international state-building, but applied transitional administration in this format is unique. The United Nations established UNTAET with a finite time period which has been prolonged twice since May 2002. This thesis examines international state-building and its linkage with local participation and ownership. The goal of the thesis is to determine whether the peace-building in East Timor was successful. It continues with the second research question regarding the main aspects of state-building which helped to enhance performance in governance and public administration areas. Using Fukuyama's theoretical background, this thesis builds a hypothesis on the notion, that aspects which helped enhance performance are those connected with local participation and ownership. The method of the research is process tracing between autumn 1999 to May 2002, when the independent state of Timor-Leste was established. The reception of Hans Christian Andersen in Bohemia (until 1945)

Dílo Hanse Christiana Andersena bylo v českých zemích překládáno od čtyřicátých let 19. století a jak zpracované recenze dokazují, překlady jeho pohádek byly přijímány kladně. Ohlasy v českých period icích byly sledovány v průběhu jednoho století. Dle výzkumu lze konstatovat, že si Andersen získal u českého publika své stálé místo. V této doby vycházelo množství překladů jeho pohádek a Andersenova popularita za tu dobu nikdy neochabla. Z doloženého materiálu je naopak patrné, že si svými pohádkami u čtenářů prosadil, což dokládají stále nové překlady a zařazení jeho příběhů do školních čítanek. Nejpřekvapivějším během výzkumu byl malý rozdíl v recepci Hanse Christiana Andersena v 19. a ve 20. století. I když samozřejmě nalezneme rozdíl v samotném přístupu literární kritiky, která se v průběhu 19. století zdokonalila. Na přelomu 19. a 20. století se již setkáváme s hodnotnými recenzemi, které se snažily o rozbor díla, a ne o pouhé informování o spisovatelově osobě či o reklamu dané knihy. Nutno dodat, že informativní články zcela nevymizely ani v průběhu první poloviny dvacátého století. Z recepce zpracované v této diplomové práce je patrné, jak velký ohlas a popularitu si Andersenovy pohádky získaly. Vycházely nejprve samostatně a poté v celých sbírkách. Jan Onghers, who was born in Mechelen, comes to Prague at the end of 1 i h century. In the coming top baroque era, Prague becomes a homeland for many foreigners. Halbax and Bys live in Bohemia only for a several years but for Onghers Prague grows into a homeland. Over his Dutch roots he becomes an integral ingredient of the Czech baroque painting. Karel Skreta and Petr Brandl have an influence to Onghers work which testify his acceptation into the Czech art. Onghers production doesn't prove a lot of invention. The acceptation of the Venice darkshine principles with the northern origin would mark his coming to artistic community. His activity wasn't awarded like BrandIs and Reiners work was. Costumers interest and connection withwitth the Old Town painters guild testify a significant effect for forming the baroque style.

Tool for e-Book Creation

This work focus on problem with creating and maintaining multiple versions and formats of ebook with one source version. There is no tool supporting this kind of workflow at this time. The problem is solved by definition of one specification file holding all needed informations about the book and all result targets (result versions and formats) and by using templating languages and CSS preprocessors to create ebook content. This solution allows to easily create multiple versions of ebook and maintain only one source with possibility to use git (or any other version control system) to version the book. Also allows to display immediate visualization of how the book will look. There is also not small number of improvements in creation and maintenance workflow. Result of this work is one simple terminal application which controls whole process of compiling source files, packaging into result files and performing validations. Tool also provides local web server for displaying book in web browser with automatic refresh feature. Result tool also includes custom templating engine which makes easier to write book content.
