Vyskočilová, Iva ; Sadílková, Helena (referee) ; Červenka, Jan (advisor)
The thesis deals with themes in the poetry of Vlado Oláh, one of the foremost Gypsy/Romany poets. The main themes of Oláh's oeuvre can be found in Khamori luluďi - Slunečnice (The sunflower), his poetry debut. They are further elaborated on in his next poetry books Khamutno kamiben - Žár lásky (The fire of love) and Amaro drom pal o udut - Naše cesta za světlem (Our path towards the light). A part of the thesis is also dedicated to poetry forms of Oláh's writings. In his poetry, Oláh mainly deals with love, nature and Romany community life seen as a Romany life-style ideal. The author also puts great emphasis on links with the Mother- Earth and the need of revitalization of these links which are to bring a resurrection of the human spirit. Appeals for human brotherhood and revitalization of human kind are ubiquitous features of Oláh's poetry. An active Christian, he is professing his faith and glorifies the Christian religion. For Oláh, Christianity provides the blueprint for a pure life and a sense of human existence. His poetry also touches Romany rights, the idea of tolerance between people, racism and the reconstruction and development of romipen, principles of traditional Romany life. Another part of the thesis focuses on poetry of some other Romany poets with a special emphasis on topics and poetry...

Kuks and baroque culture in Czech lands
Novobílský, Marek ; Czumalo, Vladimír (advisor) ; Matějů, Martin (referee)
The aim of this study is to outline and illustrate the link between the Kuksian manor and its founder, the great Czech baroque figure count Sporck and his Kuks, as a synthesis of events after the Thirty Year's War. I am convinced that this theme can be considered culturally-historical, as in the introductory chapter we are primarily going to cover the region's formation during the times of baroque Bohemia, the causes and mechanisms of its formation, subsequently we will describe the region's relationship to architecture, and finally we are going approach the spectacular grounds of Kuks itself. In the second part we will turn to count Sporck himself, particularly his background all the way towards his final establishment in Bohemia, where we are going to mention his notable credit to architecture and art, and eventually we will proceed to the issues of Bohemian settings of that time. Another big chapter will cover count Sporck's editorial activities, which were very ostentatious and presumptuous considering the fact that they took place during the difficult era full of censorships and prohibition. It can rightfully so be regarded as outstanding and, with only a few exceptions, unique in its own way. Towards the conclusion we will also outline the development of Sporck's theatrical society, the cooperation...

Sustaining a spinal cord injury with the consequent lifelong paralysis may be considered to be one of the most serious life events due to its devastating and wide-ranging impact on people's lives. Spinal cord injury is a traumatic injury, which typically occurs suddenly and without any warning. Its consequences present an enormous physical, social and psychological trauma which the individual has to confront and come to terms with. The changes caused are life-long and affect every aspect of a person's life. Paralysis leads to wheelchair dependence for mobility. In addition, the individual with a spinal cord impairment may become dependent on others for help and assistance in order to be able to carry out most of the tasks of daily living. All the losses and changes caused by the injury have profound effects on both the spinal cord injured person's social roles and those of their loved ones. The individual's and his/her family's psychosocial adaptation to spinal cord injury, which is the main theme of this work, involves an intricate adjustment process.
