Nádherná, Martina ; Opekar, František (advisor) ; Samec, Zdeněk (referee) ; Zima, Jiří (referee)
Mgr. Martina Nádherná PhD. Thesis Applications of ionic liquids in electrolytes for amperometric gas sensors and Li-ion batteries SUMMARY The dissertation presents the results of preparation and characterisation of new aprotic electrolytes based on ionic liquids for the solid-state electrochemical gas sensors and for the electrochemical energy storage devices - secondary lithium-ion batteries. In the part dealing with the solid-state amperometric sensor for NO2 research was aimed at development of new solid electrolyte. This electrolyte is developed as a system of ionic liquid embedded in the structure of a polymer, when the ionic liquid joints the properties of a solvent and a dissolved salt. The electrolyte therefore does not contain any volatile component and is long-term chemically and electrochemically stable. Several series of electrolytes were prepared with different polymers or macromonomers and imidazolium-based ionic liquids. The composition, especially the polymer-IL ratio was optimized. The electrolytes were successfully tested in a solid-state NO2 sensor with a gold minigrid serving as the indicating electrode. The research included the determination of basic electrochemical parameters and study of the sensor behaviour under different conditions. The influence of atmosphere humidity,...

Incubation strategies of selected duck species
Klvaňa, Petr ; Albrecht, Tomáš (advisor) ; Šálek, Miroslav (referee) ; Bureš, Stanislav (referee)
- 9 - Incubation strategies of selected duck species Summary of the PhD. thesis Avian incubation is an energetically demanding process. It holds true especially for uniparental incubators in which all incubation efforts are restricted to one individual. All ducks species breeding in northern hemisphere are representatives of birds with uniparental care. High demands of clutch formation and incubation make from ducks perfect model for testing factors influencing parent investment decisions. On the other hand parental investment to actual breeding attempt depends on many factors including breeding season duration, food supply, female's age, risk of predation or resilt of previous nesting attempt. So investigation of this complex problematic is extremely difficult. This thesis is focused on the most important phase of breeding cycle - incubation of clutch. Clutch incubation is associated with high energy cost to maintenance optimal temperature conditions for developing embryos. Morover incubation process can has large effect on female's body mass because of reduction of feeding time. Incubation strategy of success female include many partial tactic reducing predation risk of clutch and incubating female or eggs cooling. The incubation strategies of three ducks species were investigated in this thesis - Mallard...

Samples of protective layers based on DLC (Diamond-like-Carbon) on different substrates (test bodies and real components) were studied by several diagnostic methods.\nRaman spectroscopy was used for the detection of bindings in order to specify the structural variations, surface modifications both for as-deposited samples and particularly for samples that underwent different stress tests.\nScanning Electron Microscope (SEM) was used to examine the surface structure of layers in different locations on the sample and to search suitable test spots for the subsequent analysis by the Atomic Force Microscope (AFM). AFM in special modes was employed to measure the maps local mechanical properties (friction, tip adhesion, energy dissipation, etc.).\nOn a selected sample, the cross-sectional structure of the sample was analysed by the Focussed Ion Beam (FIB) and the elemental composition in various thicknesses was documented by the Energy-dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (EDS).\n
