Mikulková, Veronika ; Vágner, Lukáš (referee) ; Jura, Pavel (advisor)
The town library, which is currently placed in unsuitable spaces, and the apartment block were chosen as new functions of the projected area. Masses of the buildings create missing street line and respond by their positions to the Sokolovska and Polaskova streets, which define the area from the south and from the north. The new buildings complete the boundary between the old city center and the concrete high-rise blocks; they also define new urban spaces - square and park greenery.

4 Svou práci bych rozdělila do čtyř částí. V prvních dvou částech vymezuji tématické pole práce námi sledovanými pojmy, kategoriemi a problémy.

Influence of Selected Factors on Students' Mathematical Literacy in Central European Countries : Secondary Analysis of PISA 2003 Data
Voňková, Hana ; Byčkovský, Petr (advisor) ; Půlpán, Zdeněk (referee) ; Boschek, Petr (referee)
In this work we investigate the impact of selected personal, family and school characteristics on the level of mathematical ability of fifteen year old pupils from 6 countries of the Central Europe (Czech Republic, Hungary, Germany, Poland, Austria and Slovakia) and from countries with excellent results in mathematics (Finland, Hong Kong and the Netherlands). Then we compare the impact of the factors in the individual countries. Much can be concluded from this analysis. The type of school attended by the pupil has a great impact. The maximal difference between type of schools can come up to 40 percentage points in some countries (CR, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia). We do not discuss this factor in Finland and Poland, where all fifteen year olds attend one type of school. The results in these countries are therefore determined differently. As for other basic characteristics of the school, the size matters in some countries (Hong Kong and the Netherlands) and has always a positive effect. The urbanization level of the place of the school (the size of the village or city) is also positively correlated with the mathematics result. Here the Netherlands and Germany form an exception. The status of the school (public vs. private), lack of well-educated teachers, equipment of the school and enthousiasm of the...

Revitalization Program of Floral Garden in Kromeriz
Sýkora, Vlastimil ; Pospíšil, Zdeněk (referee) ; Boháč, Ivo (advisor)
The main point of this work is the revitalization of floral garden in Kromeriz in the urban and architectural way. What I wanted to create was the place for visitors, where they can spend their leisure time, do some sports or simply relax. Although this floral garden is near to the city center, nowadays it isn't visiting at all. By this project I wanted to create an interesting suggestion which completives the floral garden. The visitors center (architectural suggestion): I tried to put the building in the garden and create rather sculpture than the building in the right way - architectural sculpture. I changed the chapes of the garden and connected them to the new building (inspiration by geometrical features). I chose the concrete as a material for its properties. The connection a new visitor's center with a new water surface. The entering object: - arrangements in the interior only (larger, lighter rooms) The back part of the garden: - the new object of the greenhouse - activation old axis of garden(new feature and idea)

Megiddo in the Old Testament and in the Light of Contemporary Archaeology
Bémová, Jitka ; Beneš, Jiří (referee) ; Melmuk, Petr (advisor)
Diploma thesis "Megiddo in the Old Testament and in the light of contemporary archaeology" deals with a history of Megiddo from the earliest settlement as far as the Assyrian supremacy in the 8th century B.C.E. The archaeological research of the city was set in a contrast with biblical accounts. Introductory part of the thesis is engaged in the Land of Canaan in which Megido was situated and whose geographical and climatic conditions had effect on later formation of Megiddo city-state. The core of the text is comprised of descriptions of single development phases from the Canaanite to the Israelite city with an emphasis on a relationship between Egypt and Megiddo. The last part of the thesis is engaged in the most famous buildings in Megiddo, their precise dating and to whom the buildings should be attributed. The end of the thesis gives a short outline of the fall of the Northern Kingdom and of a subsequent Assyrian rule. Megiddo is presented as the capital of an Assyrian province. There is a biblical description of the royal city taken into the account in a contrast with the latest archaeological knowledge in a whole text. The aim of my thesis has been to compare biblical mentions of Megiddo with conclusions deduced from the archaeological excavations.
