Searching for the meaning of beauty in relation to truth and freedom on the grounds of art and pedagogy
Klimešová, Petra ; Hůla, Zdenek (advisor) ; Hogenová, Anna (referee) ; Prázný, Aleš (referee)
In the research called Searching for the meaning of beauty in relation to truth and freedom on the grounds of art and pedagogy, I deal with the topic of how beauty is perceived in art education and contemporary art. Specifically, I focus on the question of what is the experience of artists and educators with the perception of beauty? At the same time, I study Hegel's Aesthetics, in which Hegel describes art and beauty as a tool through which we discover / uncover ourselves and approach the absolute spirit. This uncovering or unhiddeness is also a term for truth (alétheia), which is a key element of Jan Patočka's and Anna Hogen's philosophy. In his philosophical work, Patočka and subsequently Hogen strive to return to her original source through self-knowledge (gnothi seauton), and by this idea all work is inspired as a search for meaning. The work is divided into three areas. The first part deals with the theoretical introduction to the whole research issue. The concept of beauty itself, the problem of objectivity and subjectivity of knowledge, the aesthetic basis of contemporary art and also Hegel's concept of aesthetics and the issue of perception. The second part reflects the statements of individual respondents. In response to the testimony, ten areas were created that relate in some way to...

Concept of Female Beauty and Ugliness in Renaissance
Filipová, Terezie ; Nespěšná Hamsíková, Magdaléna (advisor) ; Jarošová, Markéta (referee)
"There is no excellent beauty, that hath not some strangeness in the proportion." Francis Bacon Female beauty defines not only physical attractiveness, but also ˗ to a greater extent than male beauty - social status. Ugliness has, on the other hand, been mocked, condemned, and even attributed to diabolical forces. Art bears witness to this. While beauty abides by the laws of proportionality, as is clear from the depictions of Venus, the ugliness of debauched old women attempts to awaken the viewer's moral sense. In this work, aesthetic analysis of selected representative works is set within their cultural, social and religious context. Keywords female, beauty, ugliness, renaissance

Rozsnyóová, Lenka ; KRÁLOVÁ, Andrea (advisor) ; SMOLÍK, Robert (referee)
This diploma thesis reflects my inspirational resources I relied on when realizing creative projects during my studies at the Academy of performing Arts in Prague. It consists of two major parts - theoretical and practical. The first one is an analysis of the major influences upon my scenographic work - mainly visual art, fashion & folklore. In the second part of this thesis I analyse the body of my work (theatrical as well as non-theatrical projects) where all these influences have manifested themselves. There are also visual materials attached to the thesis where the actual creative process of the projects realised can be traced.

Tichá, Petra ; Hladík, Radim (advisor) ; Reifová, Irena (referee)
This diploma thesis is concerned with the problematic of the links between self-presentation on social networks (SNS) and female beauty ideal. The thesis defines the beauty ideal as social construct, because every culture has its own beauty ideal and every period held its own standards on what is considered as beutiful. The thesis is also based on assumption that definitions of beauty are multidimensional and is focused on several beauty ideals. The aim of the thesis is to evaluate ways of self-presentation of women on social networks in the context of ideal of beauty. The research is based on the analysis of profile pictures on social networks and is also based on qualitative method of grounded theory. The final results show that the dominant way of visual self-presentation is represented by selfies. But the research has also shown that in each group there is a minority group of women who present themselves in accordance with the chosen ideal of beauty. Differences are described at the end of the thesis.
Positive and negative attitudes towards animals
Peléšková, Šárka ; Landová, Eva (advisor) ; Špinka, Marek (referee)
During the entire course of evolution of our species have animals played an important role in human society and culture. They receive considerably more attention over other stimuli and the interest in animals is accompanied by both positive and negative emotions. This work deals with human attitudes towards three classes of vertebrates - amphibians (Amphibia), mammals (Mammalia), and birds (Aves) - and aims to reveal morphological and other perceptional characteristics of these animals (colour, pattern) that are responsible for their ratings of attractiveness, and of fear and disgust induced, and to investigate the relationship of negative emotions and human aesthetic preferences. The testing, underwent by 536 respondents, revealed the general body shape has the most significant impact on the rating of attractiveness and disgust induced by amphibians. Mammals and birds were significantly influenced by their real body size that was impossible to completely filter out by standardising of the photographs. Colours were of merely marginal influence, saturation contributed to the positive rating, whereas dark and dull colours were rated rather negatively. Particular colours were specific for individual groups. The relations between the examined quantities were not uniform among all the investigated...
