Modernity and holocaust

The thesis deals with the design of the Holocaust Documentation Centre in Moravia. Currently, there are several museums dealing with the Holocaust in our country, but none of them provides comprehensive documentation of the Holocaust. The proposal therefore seeks to create a museum that will be able to report on the Holocaust in a broader context and at the same time will be an attractive environment, especially for visitors living in the multimedia world of the 21st century.
Virtual on-line resources for conference interpreter training

The aim of this study is to describe the influence of modern technologies on interpreting and interpreter training. It focuses on the content of a good interpreting course and summarizes the main features of remote interpreting, telephone interpreting, videoconference interpreting and interpreting over the internet. It contains an overview of eLearning tools used in interpreter training with the last chapter dedicated to a brand new tool - the ORCIT project. The main outcomes of this work are recommendations for project partners regarding functionality and efficiency of this educational platform.
Role of Facebook in TEFL at the Second Level of Primary Schools

This diploma thesis focuses on the role of social network Facebook in the process of English teaching and learning at the second level at Czech primary schools. The theoretical part concentrates on the methodology typically used in TEFL during 20th and 21st century, online teaching and learning as well as communication, describes the history and development of Facebook and deals with the question of online safety. The practical part firstly informs the reader about the development of the research procedure, states the aims and describes the research background. Secondly it deals with the data collection, assessment and evaluation and presents the results acquired from the research. The research was designed to reveal the possible benefits of the use of Facebook in the TEFL process; it consisted of a questionnaire and two types of observation performed by the author of this thesis.
Digital Nomadism: The Instinct of Wandering in Contemporary Society

Recent estimates suggest that there are currently around 4.8 million people who consider themselves to be digital nomads. They are widely depicted in the media, most often as young professionals who successfully combine work, leisure and travel into one holistic lifestyle. Despite this significant presence in today's popular culture, from a research point of view, digital nomadism is almost unexplored phenomenon. Therefore, the aim of this work is the analysis and interpretation of the phenomenon of digital nomadism, not only through my own ethnographic research and reflection, but also in terms of current theoretical concepts in anthropology of tourism and mobility. The research itself focuses mainly on selected aspects often associated with digital nomadism in the mainstream media, and how informants reflect them. I deal with aspects such as the blurred boundaries between work and leisure, mobility slowdown, the origin of co-working spaces, the concept of freedom and, last but not least, the social changes that have led to the global expansion of this phenomenon. The Factors Influencing the Usage of Modem Technologies in Teaching Mathematics

The aim of this thesis is to explore the factors influencing the usage of modern technologies in teaching Mathematics. Modern technologies have been gradually earning their place in Czech schooling for a while now, but they are not always used in the way we might expect. To address such a question, upon consulting various literary sources, this thesis presents a model of factors which influence the usage of technologies in teaching Mathematics and aims to answer the following questions. What factors influence the intended usage of technologies in teaching Mathematics? How do these factors influence the intended usage of technologies in teaching Mathematics? What are the differences between the intended usage and the real usage and what factors influence them? How do these factors influence the real usage in teaching Mathematics? The individual factors have been further explored by a multiple-case study of three Czech Mathematics teachers during their teaching and subsequential interviews. It was the form of a multiple-case study which allowed for deeper observation of the mutual relationships between the individual factors in teachers with very different approaches to teaching and modern technologies.
