The Influence of University Studies on Perceived Positivity of Respondents
Plachá, Barbora ; Kočí, Jana (advisor) ; Thorovská, Alena (referee)
The main topic and aim of this paper is to find out the effect of university study on students' perceived positivity. The Positivity Self Test by Barbara Fredrickson was used for this research. The first part of the thesis deals with mental health and the methods by which it can be promoted. The second part of the thesis describes the Positivity Self Test, which was distributed to 5 university students. Respondents completed the test four times over the course of a year, over a period of 14 days. Twice during holidays and twice during school. This test is used to assess the extent to which university study influences respondents' positivity. The results showed that during the semester, the average positivity ratio was equal to 1.04:1. Approximately for every positive emotion, there was one negative emotion during this entire period, and the overall average positivity ratio during the holidays was 1.83:1. Thus, positivity decreased by almost one positive emotion for every one negative emotion. The study concludes with recommendations for students to maintain a stable positivity ratio during a stressful period. KEYWORDS Positivity Self Test, mental health, positive emotions, university students

Klimša, Petr ; Svobodová, Zuzana (advisor) ; Tureckiová, Michaela (referee)
This thesis deals with the subjective perception of well-being among secondary school teachers in Prague. The theoretical part of the thesis first defines the basic concepts related to the topic, namely the definition of the concept of well-being itself, which is viewed from many sources, as it is a very broad term. At the same time, the history of the term, its inclusion in andragogical reality and the topicality of the topic are described. Subsequently, all the areas that fall under this term are described, the ways in which well-being can be measured, but also possible obstacles to well-being are described. Then the theoretical part of the thesis is devoted to the teaching profession and the problematic areas that fall within this profession - demandingness, salary, prestige and others. The practical part focuses on qualitative research, in which data and opinions of individual teachers on their subjective perception of well-being, their current state, possible obstacles they perceive and what they perceive as key to their own well-being are collected through semi-structured interviews; at the same time, some additional questions are answered to reveal the relationships between different areas and well-being itself. This is followed by an evaluation of the research and a discussion in which the...

The last segment of the theoretical part is a description of psychological intervention, which is further divided into psychological diagnosis and psychological therapy. In the practical part, there is a qualitative research investigation based on semi-structured interviews conducted with six informants with hearing loss aged 20-35. The results of this research investigation point to insufficient support for psychological diagnosis and therapy for people with hearing impairment in the Czech Republic. KVĚCHOVÁ, Pavlína
Presented bachelor thesis concerns itself with the influence of social work on the quality of life of clients with mental illness. In the theoretical part we define key terminology related to the thesis. It is primarily definition of mental illness, preceded by basic terminology of health, illness, mental health and mental illness, and further by definition and explanation of quality of life and related concepts like personal well-being and general satisfaction with life. The goal of this bachelor thesis is to map the influence of specific aspects of social work on the quality of life of clients with mental illness. To reach the goal, quantitative type of research is employed, together with quantitative research strategy. As the method of interviewing and data gathering technique two standardized questionnaires were used, complemented by one personal non-standardized questionnaire in which socio-demographic data and cooperation with experts were secured. Theory testing was done via pivot table using statistical method known as Pair T-test with help of IBM SPSS Statistics programme. The results of this research have confirmed that the influence of social work on the quality of life of clients with mental illness is a significant and important intervention that significantly influences the general level of quality of life. The tested theory is therefore confirmed. The discussion summarizes reached results and compares them with reference books that concern themselves with the topic of influence of social services on the quality of life of a client with mental illness. Human Perception in Condition of Uncertainty: The Visual, Auditory and Embodied Responses to Ambiguous Stimuli
Boschetti, Silvia ; Flegr, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Palanza, Paola (referee) ; Pfaus, James (referee)
In order to orient ourselves in the environment our senses have evolved so as to acquire optimal information. The optimization, however, incurs mistakes. To avoid costly ones, the over-perception of patterns (in humans) augments the decision making. I tested the decision- making in two modalities, acoustic and visual. A set of stimuli (using computer-generated graphics, based on output from a very good pseudo random generator) was produced: masks with a random pattern with varying degree of transparency over geometrical figures were used, followed by similar task that involved black and white high-contrast patterns. In both cases, I was able to find, using a Bayesian statistical approach, that the ability to detect the correct pattern presence (or lack thereof) was related to respondents' thinking styles, specifically Rationality and Intuition. Furthermore, I used ambiguous facial expressions, and accompanying vocalizations, of high-intensity affects (pain, pleasure and fear) and low- intensity (neutral and smile/laughter). My findings evidenced that the high-intensity facial expressions and vocalizations were rated with a low probability of correct response. Differences in the consistency of the ratings were detected and also the range of probabilities of being due to chance (guessing). When...

The theoretical part of the thesis introduces the topic of LGBTG+ mental health of adolescents in the context of school. The research is composed of three questions: 1) what experiences do the respondents as LGBTG+ students have had in high school and find significant, 2) how they view these experiences and in what way they reflect their influence on their mental health and future direction, 3) how they view their future role as teachers in the context of mental health issues for LGBTQ+ people in schools. Data were collected in the form of individual semi-structured interviews, with the structure of the interview based on focus groups on a related topic. Interviews were conducted with 11 respondents of various gender and sexual identifications. The data were subsequently analysed by reflexive thematic analysis. The results of the research are presented in a thematic map depicting 9 themes and 9 sub-themes, including: School doesn't let LGBTQ+ people know sufficiently that they belong there; the impossibility of sharing, the impossibility of not knowing; even small comments have a big...
