Petružálková, Kateřina ; Střítecký, Vít (advisor) ; Karásek, Tomáš (referee)
Diploma thesis deals with the approval process of participation of the Armed Forces of the Czech Republic in foreign operations. The aim of this thesis is to find political elite's dominant motivation which leads to the decision take part in foreign military operations. Hypothesis assumes that according to the material capabilities and power ambitions of the Czech Republic there is only one dominant motivation which can be described as commitments to the membership in UN, NATO or EU. To fulfil this aim we used a content analysis of relevant discussions realized in the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic since 1993 until present. Identified arguments are assign with one of the five relevant categories (policy related to the commitments to the membership, security and political interests, historical symbolism, potential of profit in the future and influence of the domestic political situation). Analysis also considers the revelation of official statements of the political party and speeches of its members in the Chamber of Deputies.

Fořtová, Šárka ; Jüptner, Petr (advisor) ; Švec, Kamil (referee)
The aim of the thesis is to analyse and assess discussions related to the implementation of the direct election of mayors, both in the Czech Republic and in selected European countries. The thesis compares the evolution and course of the discussions that precede the anchoring of direct election of mayors in five European countries, such as the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the Federal Republic of Germany, Italy, Croatia, and Belgium-Walloon. It is particularly focused on the central motives leading towards the launch of discussion, main arguments included in the discussion, key actors, and the levels of the discussion. The crucial part of the thesis is devoted to the analysis of the discussion of possible implementation of directly elected mayors in the Czech Republic. The emphasis is put on the identification of individual platforms of the Czech political scene that intervene into the discussion. The thesis also highlights the attitude of key political parties, interest groups, and mayors, towards the question of the direct election. The Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic represents the principal mediator of the ongoing discussion. The thesis targets to answer the following questions. The possibilities arising from discussion as educational technique and its influence on the development of a pupil's personality
Šlehoferová, Klára ; Krykorková, Hana (advisor) ; Janebová, Eva (referee)
Abstact: The overall objective of this thesis is to draw attention to discussion as a teaching technique. Discussion can be used to develop pupils' abilities, which are necessary for social life. The question: "How do teachers understand this technique and then apply it?", is closely linked to this problem. It is worth mentioning that discussion has very bad connotations in the Czech society. It is mainly due to its representation in media, where discussion is usually shown as a fight of arguments with an arrogant attitude, unethical and self-centred word-tiffs. The only goal is to state one's case very fast and to silence the rival. Where else can a different concept of discussion be seen? Where can we encounter discussion that resembles a dialogue? In my oppinion it is at school. I believe that if discussion is used in the right way at school it can help the society. I consider this as a very current issue and its solution very useful. This thesis is based on an assumption that teachers work with this educational technique in an intuitive way and they do not often take advantage of possibilities offered by the discussion that could develop pupils' personal abilities. The main objective of this thesis is to offer a more extensive theoretical background. It means to define the concept of a discussion with...
Electronic democracy and its potential in the Czech Republic
Bejdák, Radek ; Lebeda, Tomáš (advisor) ; Novák, Miroslav (referee)
The diploma thesis examines new phenomena of electronic democracy which is becoming more popular with the internet expansion. The thesis summarizes existing research in the field of electronic democracy from a view of forms that could be or are taken. The aim of this summarization is to show that new transformational changes affecting our society do not automatically implicate a shift towards direct democracy. Using theoretical summarization a state of the art of electronic democracy in the Czech Republic is described. Importance is given to an analysis of contemporary evolving tools and initiatives which were developed from two directions - top-down and a bottom up. A part of this analysis is an assessment of important factors that are stimulating a development of electronic participation - freedom of information right, internet penetration and computer literacy.

Between Context and Craft
Kocmanová, Martina ; Velčovský, Maxim (referee) ; Klímová, Barbora (advisor)
The main topic of my work is question of craft in the connection with contemporary fine arts. The implementation of the work is based an open workshop for students of the Faculty of Fine Arts in Brno inside the building of the faculty in Údolní under the name DÍLNA MARTINY pro FaVU. In this place, I organize workshops of techniques , which I acquired during my past studies at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Brno. I try to pass on the experience with techniques, which I used for creation of my own works to my schoolmates. Because there is no official workshop in the Faculty of Fine Arts, DÍLNA is my critical response to the functionning of the school at the same time. I notice which studios are the students attending the workshops from. The process of the creation, preparation and course of the workshops as well as the interaction are important part of the project. I spread the information about workshops through the whole school by posters and by our studio´s internet website. Like this, I create a mental space for discussion. I review the problems of the craft from the other side, from the side of the artist, who teaches and creates matrix for new art pieces and ideas instead of creation of my own material work. The outcome of the work is the whole process – a school inside the school. It is a processual project of which author´s documentation and installation is the final outcome.
